  • Hublot - Classic Fusion House of Mandela

    Neslon Mandela is the father of today's democratic and multi-racial South Africa. He became the country's first black President in 1994. Nelson Mandela, also known as "Madiba" - who passed away in 2013 at the age of 95 - was, without a doubt, one of the world's most influential spokesmen on human rights.

    Today, in collaboration with the House of Mandela foundation created by the family of the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize winner, Hublot has decided to pay tribute to him by unveiling the Classic Fusion House of Mandela. It is a homage both to his exceptional character, and to the legacy that he has left to not only his family, but humanity as a whole. The House of Mandela aims to commemorate the life and philosophy of Nelson Mandela. Amongst its many charity projects, the Mandela family contributes to the education of South African children. A portion of the profits generated by the sale of these timepieces will also be donated to help the foundation achieve this goal.

    Crafted in 18K King Gold, the Classic Fusion House of Mandela is available in two models: a 45 mm diameter men's model and a 42 mm diameter women's model with a bezel set with 35 diamonds (totalling 1.15 carats). This special edition is limited to 95 pieces - a reference to Nelson Mandela's age at the time of his death. The dial bears the totem of the Mandela family, a bee with outstretched, branched wings which symbolise the various branches of the Mandela family tree. This insect was not chosen at random: it is inspired by Nelson Mandela's Xhosa name, Rolihlahla, which translates as "he who is brave enough to fetch the honey from the honeycomb" or "challenge the status quo". The bee also represents courage, sharing, and compassion, which are values shared by the family. The piece is completed by a black alligator strap.

  • Only Watch 2015 - Hublot

    Hublot has been supporting the Only Watch charity event since 2005 and unveils this year a Classic Fusion created in partnership with Brazilian painter and sculptor Romero Britto.
    This timepiece stands apart from the other models as it is being auctioned along with the canvas that inspired it. A first!

    The Classic Fusion Only Watch Britto combines the traditional art of enamelling with the contemporary pop art and cubism of Brazilian artist Romero Britto.

    On the dial, the master dial-maker, guided by the coloured work of art by Britto, reproduces the lines of the design at the correct scale. Then, the white gold dial is struck to prepare it for the champleve enamelling. Finally, the enameller applies thin layers of the powder enamel to the piece, adding the 6 opaque colours from the 250 shades in his palette one by one. The paint is fixed to the dial through successive firings at a temperature of approx. 800°C.

    This dial is housed within a 45 mm polished black ceramic case, topped with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal and water-resistant to 50 m. The case-back, in black ceramic with sapphire crystal bears a decal Britto signature.
    The Classic Fusion Only Watch Britto is powered by the HUB1302 hand-wound mechanical movement, offering a 90-hour power reserve. It is fitted with a red alligator strap, stitched onto black rubber and secured with a black PVD steel deployant buckle.

  • Hublot - Bol d'Or Mirabaud 2015

    We had been warned that conditions for the 77th edition Bol d'Or Mirabaud would be calm and changeable, turning the race into a test of patience and concentration for the 500 entrants. At the end of a "poker" race as some had predicted, it was the young team of "Team Tilt", skippered by Sebastien Schneiter, (he's only 19 years old!) that finished first, just 18 seconds ahead of Ernesto Bertarelli's Alinghi. Ladycat powered by Spindrift Racing, skippered by Dona Bertarelli, completed the podium this year, which was marked by light winds on the outward leg and a thunderstorm on the way back.

    At the head of the flotilla, the D35s, the Formula 1 on the lake, were locked in an intense tactical battle. After the starting gun fired at 10am in the blazing sun, Ladycat powered by Spindrift Racing quickly moved ahead along the northern Swiss shore of the lake before being blocked in by Realtime and Tilt when approaching the turning point at Le Bouveret. The lead changed several times on the way back to Geneva. Around 8pm, violent storms broke out with b gusts of wind, with Team Tilt making the most of the changing conditions to take the lead. With Alinghi hot on their heels, the young team crossed the line as the winner after 12 hours, 5 minutes and 58 seconds, according to the Hublot clock set up at the Societe Nautique de Geneve especially for the occasion. 

    For the third consecutive year, Hublot was the Official Timekeeper of the Bol d'Or Mirabaud. The brand has always had close links with the world of the sea and sailing, both through its name ("hublot" means porthole in French) and the shape of its watches, but also thanks to partnerships such as those with the Monaco Oceanographic Museum and its Institute. Because it was the 77th edition of the regatta, Hublot unveiled a special edition of its Classic Fusion Chrono in black ceramic that is limited to 77 numbered pieces. The dial, bezel and strap of this sport-chic model are in carbon fibre, a high-tech material that is particularly appreciated by sportspeople and renowned for its lightness and shock-resistance. A strap in carbon fibre stitched onto to blue rubber completes the ensemble. These three materials, carbon fibre, ceramic and rubber, together make up the Art of Fusion for which Hublot is so famous.

    On 2015 June 5th, Hublot welcomed a new ambassador from the world of art, Chen Man, the international visual artist. In her unique female artist's perspective, she fuses fashion and art, creating a series of extraordinary visual art pieces.

    As a world-renowned visual artist, Chen Man's unique style has won her many awards in the international arena. She has worked with various front-line media, home and abroad, for covers, capturing light and shadow with her fine, subtle and sensitive instinct, bestowing unprecedented charm and character to already well-known faces. She fuses Chinese traditional philosophical culture and modern fashion, two concepts that seems contradictory, thusly, becomes a unique explorer of Chinese modern visual art. Chen Man interprets Hublot's brand spirit of "be the first, unique and different" in the best possible way.

    At the press conference, Chen Man shared her view of visual art as a female artist. Wearing the Big Bang Jeans Carat set with baguettes, Chen Man sat in front of the Chinese classic architecture. The commercial perfectly reflected the fusion of Eastern and Western aesthetics.

    The cooperation between Chen Man and Hublot goes way back. She has personal shot three brand ambassadors of Hublot: Bar Refaeli wearing her Big Bang Embroidery; Lapo Erkann and the Big Bang Unico Italian Independent watch, and Lang Lang, wearing his Big Bang Carbon Bezel Baguette watch.

    The result is a series of striking portraits which reveals them as they've never been seen

    Each photo bears Hublot's symbol for the FIFA World Cup: a football painted and decorated by the artist Romero Britto, a Brazilian painter and sculptor whose work combines elements of Pop Art, Cubism and graffiti. This ball links all those involved in the project with the official watches of the FIFA World Cup, which are presented in cases in the shape of the football decorated by Britto.

    The photos were taken by Fred Merz, a Swiss freelance photographer who lives in Geneva. Renowned and much in demand for his portraiture talents, Fred Merz casts an aesthetically

    The new timepiece embodies the spirit of Big Bang. It features the Big Bang codes with its 6 H-shaped titanium screws through the watch bezel, the lugs on either side, the two strap attachments, Hublot's famous hands and the SuperLuminova™-filled baton indices offering superb legibility, and the overmoulded rubber screw-down crown with the iconic letter H adorning its profile.

    The Spirit of Big Bang is a Big Bang which has been designed with a unique case construction employing an intelligent "sandwich" principle which - playing with materials and colours - enables an unlimited number of combinations; the design of the case middle with its satin-finished sides and micro-blasted areas gives the timepiece a sophisticated look, making it one of a kind in the Big Bang range.

    It also employs the same principle of the fusion of materials with titanium, ceramic, King Gold (18 K gold with 5% platinum which gives it a deeper red colour, and which is, in fact, more precious), along with rubber and alligator skin.

    Here we find Hublot's pure DNA, but in a different, brand new form. 

    The beating heart of the piece is the new Hublot HUB4700 movement, redesigned through close collaboration between Hublot and Zenith teams; based on a Zenith El Primero chronograph "chassis" with date (frequency 5 Hz, 36,000 beats per hour, 278 components, 31 jewels), this movement has historically been regarded by purists as one of the best Swiss chronographs ever developed.

    Given the full Hublot makeover in terms of its architecture and finishes, this automatic skeleton movement with a 50-hour power reserve can be appreciated thanks to its sapphire dial which reveals the full beauty of the skeleton mechanism including its date disc. It also provides greater assurance against counterfeiting.

    The watch features a date window positioned at 4.30, a central chrono seconds hand and three timers at 9 o'clock (seconds), at 3 o'clock (30 minutes) and a small one at 6 o'clock (hours); the whole piece is completed by an alligator strap stitched onto rubber for comfort, flexibility and improved durability. The timepiece is available in black or brown, depending on the version (there are 4 different versions in total). The watch is water resistant to 100 metres.

  • Hublot - Supporting the Womanity Foundation

    The Womanity Foundation welcomed an enthusiastic crowd of over 1000 guests to its biannual fundraising gala on the night of 30-31st January 2014. A record amount of CHF 2 million was collected during the evening. These revenues are entirely dedicated to fund programmes in support of disadvantaged women and girls conducted by Womanity and its partners in Afghanistan, Brazil, India, and the Middle East and North Africa region, and elsewhere.

    The first of the beautiful Hublot "Womanity" special edition watches for women and for men, produced exclusively for the Foundation in a limited edition were auctioned in the presence of Jean-Claude Biver of Hublot himself. They were sold for 60'000 CHF.

    Other lots included a spectacular vintage Rolls Royce customized by Jean Claude Jitrois; a unique FIAT 500 designed by Francesca Versace for the occasion; a SMART car decorated by Philippe Pasqua; works of contemporary art, including a dazzling portrait of Brigitte Bardot painted live by Michael Raivard and a sculpture of the Duo MainTenant by Eleanor Cardozo.

    The many guest of the event included French Minister Yamina Benguigui, Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele of Chopard, Francesca Versace, Jean-Claude Jitrois, singer Ayo, and Philippe Pasqua,and many other personalities.

The ensemble is completed by a strap in coloured alligator sewn onto tone-on-tone rubber for comfort and flexibility.

    Inside beats the HUB 4300 movement, a self-winding mechanical chronograph with a date window at 4 o'clock. 

  • Hublot - Opening the 10th boutique in the USA

    To mark the occasion, Scuderia Ferrari, for which Hublot is the Official Watch, made an exclusive appearance, via its representative, driver Felipe Massa, appointed to cut the symbolic ribbon.  This opening is also a first for the new Hublot boutique interior concept in the USA. A warm, elegant concept developed entirely in-house at Hublot. Covering around 50 square metres, the Houston boutique reinterprets the concept of fusion so dear to the brand, but with a new combination of materials including silver brushed oak and wool for the floors, upholstered panels of silky fabric to cover the walls interspersed with details in black wood and chrome steel to highlight the windows.
    Limited edition "Big Bang Ferrari Texas"  To celebrate the new boutique and the presence of the Scuderia in Texas, Hublot unveiled an exclusive edition: the Big Bang Ferrari Texas. More stylish, more mechanical, the design of this watch traces a direct line straight through the DNA of both Hublot and Ferrari: sport, performance and technology, with one extra detail... a vibrant tribute reflecting the colours of the Lone Star State. In navy blue, red and white, as seen on the state flag, the Big Bang Ferrari Texas features a bold titanium case (45.5 mm diameter), crowned with a cylindrical bezel in black ceramic which draws the eye down towards the UNICO Flyback chronograph movement (which can be reset at any time) visible through the sapphire dial. The UNICO movement, which is Hublot's 100% in-house chronograph movement, is comparable to a high-performance racing engine. It was selected, designed and developed by Hublot especially for the Big Bang Ferrari.
    With no fewer than 330 components and a frequency of 28,800 Vib/H (4 Hz), it features a column wheel and a double horizontal clutch visible on the dial side, as well as an oscillating weight inspired by the design of a Ferrari wheel. As for the dial, the legendary prancing horse is featured discreetly in relief at 9 o'clock. A minute counter is positioned at 3 o'clock (completed by a yellow date window), and the hand and the style of the indexes are inspired by the counters in a Ferrari, perfectly in line with the Italian manufacturer's sport DNA whilst adhering to Hublot's graphic codes. Complete with a Schedoni leather strap in navy blue and black rubber with tone on tone stitching, the watch is a tribute to Ferrari's iconic signature. The symbolic prancing horse appears discreetly on the back of the timepiece, only 50 of which have been produced. Power reserve of 72 hours and waterresistant to 100 metres. The concept extends to the aluminium presentation box, which is inspired by a valve support from an engine and features a built-in rotary system. Edition limited to 50 numbered pieces 

  • Dietlin - "Levitation" display case, contemplative poetry

    Specially designed for the event and located at the main entrance to the stand, one display in particular reflected the image of Hublot watches. It was an event all on its own. Even a world first.

    "Puzzled and questioning" visitors crowded around the display to marvel at a Tourbillon carbon watch levitating in space, "carried by the wind", with no fixtures or supports, in the centre of an illuminated case.

    But how was the watch supported? This was the first time a levitating watch had been displayed. On closer inspection, components (body, face, winder) could also be observed orbiting around the product. The objects moved slowly, with a kind of contemplative poetry, perfectly showcasing the innovative materials and technologies demanded by Hublot.

    Observers came up with some very imaginative explanations for this levitation effect. Here are some of the comments recorded by the security guards for the Hublot team each day:

    "It's invisible fishing wires"

    "Powerful magnets are suspending the objects in space"

    "Lots of invisible glasses are being hidden by a mirror effect"

    "It's like the old magic tricks, they're using mirrors to hide the stand holding the watch"

    "They're using pressurised gas to make the objects levitate" (this was the red herring published by Business Montres that gave the security staff at Baselworld such a scare).

    We could quote many more "theories", however extremely few visitors came up with the correct solution for the "mysterious" traditional timepieces and watches in which the mechanism is replaced by invisible sapphire crystals.

    The Levitation display case will be appearing in some exclusive Hublot stores throughout the world.

    On the strength of the amazing success of this world first, Dietlin Artisans is now working on some new concepts for Hublot: the huge works in the new Hall 1 at Baselworld and Hublot's new stand for next year are paving the way for innovative display techniques. Visitors to Hublot's stand at Baselworld 2013 will not be disappointed.

  • Hublot - A Night of Fashion and Charity with Manchester United


     During their five city US tour Manchester United attended the dinner at the iconic Cipriani Wall Street, all the players including Chicharito, Michael Owen, Patrice Evra, Rio Ferdinand, Nani and manager Sir Alex Ferguson participated in the "Art of Fusion Fashion Show" showing off the latest timepieces from Hublot.


    Manchester United and Hublot have already collaborated on 3 watches, the latest of which the King Power Red Devil has grass from the hallowed turf of Old Trafford Stadium embedded in the indexes.
    Following the runway show, a live auction that included Sir Alex Ferguson?s Hublot All Black Red timepiece, along with various Manchester United collectibles, was held.
    Proceeds from the evening will benefit the Manchester United Foundation, which strives to improve the lives of children and young people around the World.
