The appearance of the Hublot Big Bang Ferrari Chronograph Skeleton Dial Men's 401.NQ.0123.VR watch is good, although a true tank should have a jewel in the winding stem. Unfortunately, the watch band is of very poor quality, started to come apart after only a couple of wearings. Keeps time well, but as far as recommending it, you would have to plan on the expense of a new watch band almost immediately.

Among the many skills present at the Hublot Manufacture in Nyon is the ability to present tailor-made limited editions of its watches that cater successfully to individual markets. One of these recent renditions is a Hublot Big Bang Caviar Special Edition that blends the bold design of the Big Bang Caviar collection with attributes that recall the tri-colour of the Venezuelan National Flag.

In spite of a tough economic environment, due to the recent Oil price collapse, Venezuelan collectors avidly look for large complicated pieces and watches of great physical presence on the wrist. The high tech combination of new materials such as carbon fibre, rubber, titanium and gold remain the focus of local aficionados with a taste for bold pieces. Hublot has a large and faithful following among Venezuelan collectors due to its Fusion philosophy which skilfully combines these features in great show-off pieces.

The attractive 41 mm modular stainless steel case with the well-known Caviar grooves sports a bezel, in the same metal as in the case, with a coloured sequence of 48 spinels and sapphires to resemble the South American country's emblem, along with 6 titanium H-shaped screws.

The circular grooves texture theme continues on the shiny dial, made out of metal with a chromium PVD treatment that enhances the visibility of the watch while adding lustre to the piece with a useful black on white date of the month at three. Inside the case and protected by a sapphire crystal back, a mechanical automatic movement Hublot Caliber HUB 1112 is placed. The calibre has the full Hublot finishes and decorations such as Côtes de Geneve and bevelled surfaces.

The Hublot Big Bang Caviar Special Edition Venezuela is limited to only 20 pieces and comes along with a shiny metallic silver calfskin leather wrist band with a folding buckle in stainless steel. Our take is that even though the local economy is currently in a painful downward spin there is always great interest in a limited edition Hublot Big Bang Caviar which shows off our patriotic streak in good taste.
