  • Hublot - Classic Fusion House of Mandela

Neslon Mandela is the father of today's democratic and multi-racial South Africa. He became the country's first black President in 1994. Nelson Mandela, also known as "Madiba" - who passed away in 2013 at the age of 95 - was, without a doubt, one of the world's most influential spokesmen on human rights.

Today, in collaboration with the House of Mandela foundation created by the family of the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize winner, Hublot has decided to pay tribute to him by unveiling the Classic Fusion House of Mandela. It is a homage both to his exceptional character, and to the legacy that he has left to not only his family, but humanity as a whole. The House of Mandela aims to commemorate the life and philosophy of Nelson Mandela. Amongst its many charity projects, the Mandela family contributes to the education of South African children. A portion of the profits generated by the sale of these timepieces will also be donated to help the foundation achieve this goal.

Crafted in 18K King Gold, the Classic Fusion House of Mandela is available in two models: a 45 mm diameter men's model and a 42 mm diameter women's model with a bezel set with 35 diamonds (totalling 1.15 carats). This special edition is limited to 95 pieces - a reference to Nelson Mandela's age at the time of his death. The dial bears the totem of the Mandela family, a bee with outstretched, branched wings which symbolise the various branches of the Mandela family tree. This insect was not chosen at random: it is inspired by Nelson Mandela's Xhosa name, Rolihlahla, which translates as "he who is brave enough to fetch the honey from the honeycomb" or "challenge the status quo". The bee also represents courage, sharing, and compassion, which are values shared by the family. The piece is completed by a black alligator strap.

  • Hublot - Bol d'Or Mirabaud 2015

We had been warned that conditions for the 77th edition Bol d'Or Mirabaud would be calm and changeable, turning the race into a test of patience and concentration for the 500 entrants. At the end of a "poker" race as some had predicted, it was the young team of "Team Tilt", skippered by Sebastien Schneiter, (he's only 19 years old!) that finished first, just 18 seconds ahead of Ernesto Bertarelli's Alinghi. Ladycat powered by Spindrift Racing, skippered by Dona Bertarelli, completed the podium this year, which was marked by light winds on the outward leg and a thunderstorm on the way back.

At the head of the flotilla, the D35s, the Formula 1 on the lake, were locked in an intense tactical battle. After the starting gun fired at 10am in the blazing sun, Ladycat powered by Spindrift Racing quickly moved ahead along the northern Swiss shore of the lake before being blocked in by Realtime and Tilt when approaching the turning point at Le Bouveret. The lead changed several times on the way back to Geneva. Around 8pm, violent storms broke out with b gusts of wind, with Team Tilt making the most of the changing conditions to take the lead. With Alinghi hot on their heels, the young team crossed the line as the winner after 12 hours, 5 minutes and 58 seconds, according to the Hublot clock set up at the Societe Nautique de Geneve especially for the occasion.

For the third consecutive year, Hublot was the Official Timekeeper of the Bol d'Or Mirabaud. The brand has always had close links with the world of the sea and sailing, both through its name ("hublot" means porthole in French) and the shape of its watches, but also thanks to partnerships such as those with the Monaco Oceanographic Museum and its Institute. Because it was the 77th edition of the regatta, Hublot unveiled a special edition of its Classic Fusion Chrono in black ceramic that is limited to 77 numbered pieces. The dial, bezel and strap of this sport-chic model are in carbon fibre, a high-tech material that is particularly appreciated by sportspeople and renowned for its lightness and shock-resistance. A strap in carbon fibre stitched onto to blue rubber completes the ensemble. These three materials, carbon fibre, ceramic and rubber, together make up the Art of Fusion for which Hublot is so famous.

  • Hublot - Classic Fusion Enamel Britto

Artists in their own right, enamellists are masters at working in miniature and working with the properties of materials and the temperatures required for their fusion. Guided by Britto's fun, brightly coloured artwork, the master dial-maker reproduces the outline of the design to the right scale, before stamping the dial in white gold to prepare it for champleve enamelling. The enamellist grinds the enamel in a mortar before applying thin layers of the powder to the piece. The colours are applied one at a time. To reproduce the original design as faithfully as possible, the enamellist works with the enamel in the same way as Britto works with acrylics. The enamellist selects 12 opaque colours - the most delicate and sensitive to firing - from the 250 shades in the colour palette. Each colour is fixed to the metal through successive firings at a temperature of approx. 800°C, until the final pattern appears after several days' work. Britto's iconic designs are reproduced perfectly by the champleve enamel. In fact, the enamel is divided into cells, or "cloisons", which are so delicately produced that they are almost invisible. In creating this dial, it was a real challenge to transcribe in miniature all the harmony and energy of Britto's work.

The Classic Fusion Enamel Britto is available in platinum or ceramic with a black alligator strap stitched onto rubber; it will be produced as a 50-piece limited edition for the ceramic version and a 30-piece limited edition for the platinum version.

    Romero Britto
The work of this Brazilian artist, painter and sculptor is influenced by the Pop Art and Cubism art movements. His iconic style makes reference to a joyful, brightly coloured universe of patterns which are infinite in their combination and variation. He has been collaborating with Hublot since the Brazilian World Cup, for which he created the iconic multicoloured football.

  • Hublot - Baselworld 2014 : A really complicated World Cup!

Featuring soccer, fusion materials and complications, 2014 will be an eclectic year for Hublot, with the dynamic Nyon-based brand displaying the breadth of its knowhow and its commitment to sport.

Indeed, 2014 will above all be a soccer year, with the long-awaited World Cup in Brazil. For the occasion, Hublot is unveiling a particularly distinctive model which will also be the official watch for the event: the Big Bang Unico Chrono Bi-Retrograde.

The watch is built to embody the world of football. Triggering the chronograph sets the chrono seconds and minutes hands moving clockwise along a 45-minute arc corresponding to one half of a soccer match, plus an extra time zone of 15 minutes for a maximum of one hour.

Two buttons on each side of the crown provide stop and reset functions. The button at 2 o'clock also indicates which of the four possible periods are on display: first half, half time, second half or extra time, indicated by a central window at 12 o'clock. The paradoxical thing about this watch is that the time display itself has been relegated to 6 o'clock - a location usually reserved for the chronograph. Naturally, the piece comes in yellow and green, Brazil's national colours. Just one hundred gold and two hundred carbon fibre watches will be produced.

    Fine watchmaking, the Fusion way

With Key of time, Anticythere, LaFerrari, and so on, Hublot is already highly active in the field of complications. Even so, 2014, marks a clear turning-point for the brand, which is bringing out no fewer than five models featuring various levels of sophistication.

First of all, there's the Classic Fusion with an 8-day power reserve. This is a first for Hublot. The challenge resides not just in creating a new reference, but above all in presenting a movement that's one of the slimmest of this type - a mere 4.4 mm thick. This has resulted in a very bold stylistic approach: in spite of it being so thin, the watch still features its large 45 mm case. The overall effect delivers a really contemporary, authentic timepiece, beating at the gentle rhythm of 21,600 vibrations per hour.

Next up, Hublot is unveiling new tourbillons, with four models on offer. The first is a fresh interpretation of the now famous Skull. At first this appears to resemble the watch that is already part of the collection, but in fact a large number of changes have been made: in addition to the tourbillon, these relate to its bridges and plate, which have been fashioned in 3D: instead of being flat, the bridges are shaped in relief in a laser machining phase. This technique provides a three-dimensional finish which is quite rare in watchmaking: most bridges are flat.

As well as its tourbillon, the second model stands out because of its dial, made from Osmium. As far as we know at present, this is the rarest metal on earth, belonging to the platinum family. In its compact, crystal form, it becomes stable in air. Osmium crystallises at its melting point - 3,033 °C. The dial produced in this manner is offset by a very sober 45 mm black ceramic case.

The third model will feature the same technical characteristics, but with dials in stained glass - another material that is little used in watchmaking. Hublot is set to present a number of variations on this theme in due time.

The fourth and final new model marks Hublot's return to the field of the Minute Repeater Tourbillon, where the brand already created quite a stir in 2010. This new 45 mm model will feature two chimes, qualifying the watch as a 'Cathedral'. The timepiece features a rare 5-day power reserve and is waterproof to a depth of 30 metres. It will be available in two versions, in titanium or King Gold - Hublot gold with 5% added platinum.

  • Hublot - Classic Fusion Cathedral Tourbillon Minute Repeater

Entirely designed, developed and produced by Hublot, this new Grande Complication is the result of 24 months of R&D. It has been fully remodelled and optimised since the first version appeared in 2010.

The sapphire dial reveals the HUB 8001 hand-wound mechanical movement - comprising 319 components - with its tourbillon escapement and the Minute Repeater mechanism. Among the notable new features are the newly designed time setting function and a traditional tourbillon with its 13.6 mm diameter cage, which rotates once every minute, and boasts a highly stable construction thanks to the barrette on the dial side.

One of the technical feats achieved on the Minute Repeater is the complete integration of the trigger piece in the left-hand bezel lug of the Classic Fusion's case. The power of the double cathedral chime and the exceptional clarity of its tone has already brought it to the attention of connoisseurs.

The Tourbillon Minute Repeater, which has a power reserve of 5 days, is water-resistant to 30 metres.

The watch has an aesthetically pleasing diameter of 45 mm. The piece is available in King Gold (extra-precious gold containing 5% platinum) or titanium. It is completed with a strap, with a deployant buckle, in black alligator leather sewn onto tone-on-tone rubber.

  • Chaumet - Horological fauna and flora in 2014

Chaumet is one of the rare jewellery and watchmaking companies to have several watch collections that have established themselves in their respective niches. The Dandy, for example, has become a must-have men's watch. The Attrape moi… si tu m'aimes watch is a reference in the domain of creative feminine jewellery watches; while the Liens collection that was first designed in 1977 made a successful return to centre-stage in November 2013. The new register explored by Chaumet with the Hortensia collection made an immediate impression on informed observers with a range of novel bouquet-inspired floral compositions.
In 2014, Chaumet will be confirming its approach by enriching all of the existing collections.

    Future ties
With its Liens watches, Chaumet is targeting a return to entry-level ladies' timepiece, a field it had deserted for a certain period in order to focus on upscale artistic pieces. Chaumet will now therefore considerably reinforce this collection to ensure it achieves the success it deserves.
Six new references will be launched in 2014, definitely upping the pace for this range of which the first seven models were launched less than three months ago. An unusual self-winding 33 mm model set with 64 diamonds will appear, while the others will be quartz-driven and feature a 27 mm diameter. Chaumet will alternate between gold and steel variations fitted with satin straps or metal bracelets.

    Artistic bestiary

The Chaumet bestiary will welcome new flowers, insects, butterflies and birds. These models will feature the most precious artistic crafts, mingling painting, engraving, sculpture and gem-setting. This is a field of expression that Chaumet has always associated with its creations and that it is naturally pursuing in 2014.
The dials of the Attrape moi… si tu m'aimes collection are framed by a 35 mm pink gold case set with diamonds. The colourful satin or white alligator leather strap, secured by a gem-set pink gold pin buckle, is attached to the collection's two signature perpendicular lugs. Finally, the two hands are driven by a self-winding movement featuring an oscillating weight engraved with a dragonfly, a butterfly and a bee.

The first chapter in the collection will indeed be dedicated to bees, a favourite theme for Attrape moi… si tu m'aimes watches. A rock crystal bee and a miniature-painted blue butterfly face each other on a guilloche mother-of-pearl. As they gather pollen from the flowers, a cluster of diamonds flies up into the air.
A second chapter in the saga will follow, once again dedicated to the butterfly, this time appearing alone in white mother-of-pearl lacework lit up by cool orange enamel. The flowers will be sculpted in turquoise with a heart made of royal blue sapphires.
TThe third piece will see a ber contrast, with two dragonflies in mother-of-pearl, agate and cornelian flying across a lapis lazuli sky dotted with diamonds above an engraved gold lake.
The fourth and more autumnal Attrape-moi… si tu m'aimes is graced with six butterflies in red cornelian marquetry, white wood and blackened gold, quivering on diamond-set pink gold stems. This exquisite choreography will be enhanced by a myrtlewood burl base.
Finally, the last model in red tones depicts a flight of doves from a diamond-rimmed gold cage, illuminating in their wake an orange-tinted stone sky. The birds are sculpted out of agate using the cameo technique, with their wings embellished by grand feu enamel cabochons.

    An explosion of blossoms
The new Hortensia collection will focus on two themes already featured when the range was introduced in October 2013: jewellery and Fine Watchmaking. In all, Chaumet will present no less than seven new models.
The four High Jewellery models will comprise two hand-wound tourbillon watches (based on a movement developed by Hublot) celebrating blue and white hydrangeas, a 'river' watch on a flowing ruby bracelet, and a 'secret' watch in pink gold set with precious stones. The two first models will be in white gold and display the tourbillon at 6 o'clock, of which the upper bridge and plate form the shape of a hydrangea bloom.

The Chaumet 'secret' watch is a one-of-a-kind model, with a bouquet of pink hydrangeas concealing a white mother-of-pearl dial punctuated by four diamond hour-markers, and held to the wrist by a pink satin strap with a clasp composing a gem-set pink gold hydrangea bloom. The time is thus revealed beneath a myriad of pink gold flowers, paved with brilliant-cut diamonds and set with pink sapphires, sculpted cabochon-cut opals and tourmalines.
Then come four precious watches in yellow or white gold. They feature an unusual 31-millimetre round watch with gentle curves and domed profiles that make it resemble a precious pebble, fitted on a black satin or white leather strap. Nestling at the heart of a polished or gem-set bezel, they give pride of place to a bouquet of hydrangeas crafted using techniques involving marquetry, imagery or an engraved and chequered guilloche geometrical motif.

  • Hublot - Official Timekeeper for the Bol d'Or Mirabaud

It is the world's premier inland lake regatta. It is also a huge nautical festival, bringing together almost 600 yachts on the waters of Lake Geneva. Amateurs and professionals, including champions from all over Europe, meet on the starting line in Geneva harbour. Over 3000 sailors, thousands of spectators lining the banks, a truly stunning start, an exemplary Organisation Committee and a hundred volunteers, this is the competition that has it all, from the most cutting-edge innovations in nautical research to an open, friendly atmosphere. And to celebrate this great, highly promising 75th anniversary event, Hublot is honoured and privileged to have been chosen as the official timekeeper for the regatta.
The event kicks off in front of the Societe Nautique de Geneve yacht club on Saturday, 15th June at 10am. The yachts head towards Le Bouveret at the end of the lake to tack around the "Hublot Barge" - the only brand on the course - at the halfway point, decked out for the occasion with a giant clock to show the teams their mid-race time. Hublot will also be present at the Societe Nautique de Geneve with display cases and a boutique, and its entire team led by Jean-Claude Biver, Chairman and Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of the company.
Hublot has always been close to the world of sailing and the sea, firstly through its very name ("Hublot" means "porthole") and the shape of its watches, but also through prestigious partnerships such as the one with Alinghi, the Monaco Oceanographic Museum and its Institute, or the Marina de Porto Cervo and the Real Club Nautico de Palma with the Copa Del Rey.
To pay tribute to the celebration of the event's 75th anniversary, Hublot has created a Classic Fusion Chronograph, a chic sports model in titanium, chosen for its lightness, shock-resistance and extreme resistance to corrosion, featuring a carbon fibre dial with silver counters and a chronograph hand in the deep blue of the Lake Geneva waters. A strap, which is also made from carbon fibre sewn onto black rubber, completes the piece. Only 75 numbered watches will be produced, featuring "75eme edition Bol d'Or Mirabaud" engraved on the back.

  • Hublot - A new watch for the centenary of Tuiga

This year, on the Rock of Monaco, Hublot is taking part in the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Admiral Tuiga, alongside the Yacht Club de Monaco, its long standing partner and friend. This also provides an opportunity for the watchmaker to present a new limited series watch dedicated to the legendary sailing ship, in the presence of HRH Prince Albert II of Monaco.

It is in the 9th Monaco Classic Week that the festivities in honour of Tuiga are organised. Hublot, official timekeeper of the Yacht Club de Monaco, is celebrating not only the sea and the superb traditional sailing ships, but has insisted on creating a new model in the colours of the prestigious Yacht Club: a watch bearing the name Tuiga, on which the dates 1909 and 2009 are engraved. Indeed, this sailing ship, a "15 Metre class" was built by W. Fife in 1909 and restored in 1993. It is the emblem of the Yacht Club de Monaco, still proud and magnificent today on its 100th anniversary.

In the spirit of respect for tradition while being at the cutting edge of technology, Hublot has created a pink gold, ceramic and carbon watch, with a rubber strap. The Classic Fusion model, with its sporty chic design, and personalised by the flags of the Yacht Club at 9 o'clock and the name Tuiga at 6 o'clock, is eagerly anticipated by yachting and fine watch lovers.
Hublot is also taking part in all the events of the Classic Week, and rewarding those achieving distinction in various categories, such as the Personality of the Sea (for outstanding action in the field of marine and environmental protection), the Belle Classe Owner(for best yacht restoration respecting maritime heritage), and the various winners of the Classic Week competitions.

  • Hublot - In China with the new Big Bang Red Devil 2

For Swiss watchmaker Hublot, there are today so many reasons to organise an event in China: the opening of their shop in Hang Zhou, the launch of the second edition of the Red Devil Bang, together with the Manchester United team and, last but not least, the opportunity to make a gesture in support of the HOPE Foundation, through a one million $ challenge…

Hublot is continuing its activity in the Chinese market with an event which turned out to be both spectacular and generous. The watchmaking brand has invited several of the best Red Devils players to take up a challenge that would test even the most finely-honed shooting skills. This has taken place on the same day as the opening ceremony of their first shop in Hang Zhou at the prestigious department store "Hang Zhou Tower".
The aim was for Paul Scholes, Ji-Sung Park, Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra to shoot the ball from the shore of the "West Lake" into a target placed 16 metres away, on a boat. For each goal scored, Hublot promised to donate the sum of $250,000 to the HOPE Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation who raises funds to help children in China and Hong Kong, by setting up education programs (www.hope-ef.org). Jean-Claude Biver, Sir Alex Ferguson and David Gill, CEO of Manchester United, were there to cheer on the four players!

In a festive spirit, the enthusiastic players finally couldn't make it, even though Rio Ferdinand hit the target board very close to the hole. Sir Alex Ferguson couldn't resist to make an attempt himself - wearing his "every day" shoes ! -, and his legendary talent didn't lie as he was the one who kicked the closest to the goal ! David Gill also tried, and then Jean-Claude Biver, after a attempt on the grass, boarded on a boat to bring symbolically the ball in the hole and to offer the Foundation $10'000, in addition to the 100'000 promised. The cheque was donated to the famous founders and representatives of Hope Foundation, the actress Miss Lee Xing Jie and the singer Miss Xu Ru Yun.

After a committed season of cooperation and partnership, Hublot and the Red Devils used this event to present a new edition of the Big Bang in the colours of the reigning English champions. With a 45 minute counter at 9 o'clock, the "Red Devil" logo at 3 o'clock, and a new rose gold case fitted on a rubber Alligator strap, the series is limited to just 99 pieces! This new model will delight fans of both Manchester United and Big Bang with its sporty yet sophisticated appeal.
