This smoker is versatile, and easy to switch out. The wood chip door is difficult to load when the water pan is used. If this was corrected, possibly a 5 star rating.

First unveiled in 2005, the Big Bang represented a revolution in the field of watch design. Its concept was based on an instantly recognizable aesthetic embodying the multiple meanings of the word "fusion". Merging materials, mixing styles, daring to use unusual color mixes… This year, under the masterful guidance of Hublot CEO Jean-Claude Biver, the brand is launching even more amazing variations of what has become an iconic watch. From an ultravirile look to the the Tutti Frutti versions, Big Bang is once again veering off the beaten track to reveal hitherto unknown aspects of its personality.

Rugged and sturdy in the extreme, the Big Bang King Power takes the qualities of the original design to its ultimate limits and single-handedly embodies the power and emotion of sheer luxury. Its strength lies in its loyalty to the traditions of the line, as well as in its resolutely avant-garde approach. All parts have in fact been redesigned, including an extra-large 48 mm case featuring sharp angles and straight sides, raised endpieces, highlighted screws. The pushpieces assert themselves even more bly along the side of the case, and the decorative tubes are inserted into black composite resin. Even the bezel takes on a new appearance thank to the rubber molding surrounding the ceramic. The multi-level dial comprises around ten applied components in addition to the powerful black hour-markers.

The chronograph and split-second hands are totally new and also built on two levels with two different types of finish. The propeller shape of the split-second gives it an especially dynamic appeal that is the signature of the King Power collection that comprises different models. The King Power Foudroyante All Black (which also exists in gold and Zirconium) goes for the darker side through the successful fusion of ceramic, resin, titanium and rubber. As too does the King Power Tourbillon All Black which is also available in gold. The Gold King Power strikes the right balance between sport and elegance by marrying a rubber bezel with a case in red gold - a new alloy specially developed for Hublot and used by the brand for the very first time here. The new King Power is also destined to house the entirely in-house manufactured chronograph movement which the brand is soon to unveil.

While the King Power opts for a decidedly macho attitude, the Big Bang is also capable of showing up in more feminine attire. This summer's Big Bang Black Lemon is decked out in a tangy bright yellow shade thanks to the baguette-cut sapphires surrounding the black dial with graded shades evoking the brand's other pet concept, "invisible visibility". Meanwhile, the alligator leather strap lends an urbane touch while remaining eminently supple and comfortable thanks to its rubber lining. Together with the ceramic case, the inimitable Hublot art of fusion comes to life in this watch with its sharp citrus flavor. The same goes for the Big Bang Apple which looks good enough to eat, with its bezel set with tsavorites and its rose gold or black ceramic case. This second tempting piece offers a blend of emotions, materials and colors combining to infuse its chronograph movement with the appeal of forbidden fruit…

Hublot has at last made its much anticipated move into the avant-garde factory built between Lake Leman and the Jura mountain, and in doing so is entering a new phase in its history. Formerly divided between two sites, the machining, assembly and complications workshops, along with the administrative and Research & Development departments are now united within six-storey 6,000 square-meter premises. Bringing all its activities under one roof should enable the watch brand to reach new goals. "By 2010, our goal is to be able to produce 5,000 to 8,000 entirely in-house manufactured movements per year, and to reach a total production volume of 20,000 movements by 2012", exclaims the delighted CEO, Jean-Claude Biver.

The ground floor houses the machining workshops, while the first floor accommodates production in spacious premises bathed in natural light. It is within this luminous environment that the watchmakers craft the famous Big Bang models, the new King Power versions and all the other timepieces equipped with complications that have earned the brand its formidable reputation. The second floor is dedicated to the Research & Development department, a watch laboratory, as well as to the purchasing and customer care departments; while the third floor is home to the administrative officers and Hublot TV which has its own in-house recording studio. A Showroom on this level also displays the latest Hublot releases appearing in "raptor" and "explorer" showcases. And finally, in keeping with the brand's resolutely innovative spirit, the site features a company creche that will welcome employees' children as of fall 2009, as well as a large area devoted to dynamic young entrepreneurs who are launching a start-up company.
