  • Longines Presence 34.5 Automatic Gold (L4.778.6.12.2)

While the Longines watch was nice the band that came with it was supposed to be brown, and it was black! My husband doesn't wear black watchbands and to send it back was just going to be a pain, so we now have to buy a super slim band to fit the watch...which makes it more expensive.

The pave stones on the outer part of the watch are done so sloppy. Looks like a piece of costume jewelry. Don't buy!

I was really impressed with this item upon arrival. It is a fantastic looking Longines watch and appears to be much more expensive than it actually is. It has worked great since we bought it and we are obviously extremely pleased.

  • Longines - Just A Way, world's best racehorse

Longines, Official Partner and Official Watch of IFHA, and the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA) rewarded the performance of the greatest racehorses of 2014 on 20 January 2015 in London, at the hotel Claridge's.

The Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings are established by international handicappers according to the performance of the horses in elite races.
Rated 130, the Japanese racehorse Just A Way secured first position and was crowned as the 2014 Longines World's Best Racehorse. Fellow Japanese runner Epiphaneia, victor of The Japan Cup in association with Longines was rated second at 129. A unique group of horses were rated 127 and placed equal third; Hong Kong's Able Friend, Great Britain's Kingman and The Grey Gatsby, Irish trainee Australia and two-time South African Horse of the Year Variety Club. The owners of the winning horses were presented with elegant Longines watches from the Conquest Classic collection, a line of refined timepieces dedicated to the equestrian world.

Mr. Akatsuki Yamatoya, owner of Just A Way, received the trophy, a chronograph in rose gold fitted with an exclusive column-wheel caliber, and a replica of the vase of the Longines World's Best Racehorse. The vase of the Longines World's Best Racehorse is a crystal vase named Equus, on which the name of the Longines World's Best Racehorse is engraved each year.

The Conquest Classic collection is dedicated to Longines' passion for equestrian sports. True to the brand's values of elegance, tradition and performance, this collection of models, all fitted with self-winding calibres, is at the same time totally contemporary and perfectly timeless.

  • Longines - The 2014 Longines Prize for Precision

The was awarded to the two most precise classical archers over the season, Brady Ellison (USA) and Aida Roman (MEX), who also both clinched the World Cup title. Each was presented with a trophy, a Longines watch and a cheque for CHF 5,000.

Longines is proud to have supported the Archery World Cup as its Official Partner and Timekeeper. The Swiss watch brand is also proud to announce the continuation of the partnership with World Archery that it entered into in 2008. "We are very pleased to renew our support for an ancient art and discipline which embodies the brand's long-standing involvement in precision and traditional sports" said Walter von Känel, the President of Longines. "Moreover, the elegance of this sport, which requires extreme skill, concentration, precision, balance and discipline, is a perfect reflection of our core values, summed up in our slogan "Elegance is an attitude".

The Official Watch for the event was a steel chronograph from the brand's Conquest Classic collection. With a diameter of 41 mm, this model features a black dial and houses an exclusive column-wheel chronograph movement. Like all the timepieces in the Conquest Classic collection, the watch is water-resistant to 5 bars and has a sapphire glass, screw-in case back.

  • Longines - The Twenty-Four Hours Single Push-Piece Chronograph

For its latest creation, the , the brand has replicated the lines of one of its pilot watch dating from the 1950s.

The 47.50 mm diameter of the original model has been reproduced, as well as the dial with its 24-hour scale, available in black or silver. The steel case has a closed back, decorated with Longines' famous hourglass symbol, in use since 1867. Each watch in this exceptional series is numbered.

houses the L789 self-winding, mechanical movement. This new column-wheel chronograph calibre, produced exclusively for Longines, is an adaptation of Longines' own single push-piece movement.
The watch features a chronograph function, displays the time on a 24-hour scale, and has a small seconds at 18 o'clock plus a date aperture at 12 o'clock, at the bottom of the dial. It is fitted on a black or brown alligator strap to match the colour of the dial.

  • Longines - The Heritage Diver, two versions

The name Longines has long been associated with breathtaking feats achieved by pioneers who have always dared to go beyond their limits, notably in underwater exploration. In the 1950s the brand supplied measuring instruments for the bathyscaphe Trieste, which set a diving record in 1953. In addition to technical equipment, Longines also produced robust and reliable watches intended for use by keen amateur divers. Dating from the 1970s, two such models have been taken as inspiration for the new The Longines Heritage Diver watch.

Available in two versions, one with three hands and the other a chronograph, these new models boast a black, satin-finish dial that elegantly combines red highlights with details coated with Super-LumiNova®. Moreover, both versions feature a bidirectional rotating inner flange. Like the original creations, the two new models have a diameter of 43 mm. The case back, crown and bezel are screwed in, thus ensuring water-resistance to 30 bar (300 metres). The cushion-shaped steel case has a brushed sunburst decoration on the upper surface and is polished around the sides. The case back is engraved with the figure of a diver, recalling the first diving watches produced by Longines.

The model with 3 hands differs from the other with its daring mix of colours set off by the black dial, namely one red hand and red minute zones, touches of Super-LumiNova® coating and grey rhodium plating. The graduated scale from 0 up to 60 enables the diver to calculate how long he or she has been underwater by synchronising the 12 o'clock hour symbol with the minute hand. The inner flange is activated using the crown at 2 o'clock. The chronograph version boasts the same colour scheme, but in contrast the graduated scale on the flange goes from 60 down to 0. This enables the diver to calculate the remaining time, for example to allow for decompression when returning to the surface, by synchronising a given point with the minute hand. The new The Longines Heritage Diver watches are fitted on a black synthetic or rubber strap.

  • Longines - The Longines Column-Wheel Single Push-Piece Chronograph

As part of the Longines Heritage Collection, The Longines Column-Wheel Single Push-Piece Chronograph models recall the very first chronograph wristwatches created by the brand in 1933. These timepieces housed the 13.33z calibre, the first chronograph movement made by Longines to equip wristwatches.

The Longines Column-Wheel Single Push-Piece Chronograph model houses the L788 calibre, a monopusher movement developed by ETA exclusively for Longines and which, like its illustrious predecessor, is equipped with a column-wheel and measures 13¼ lines. All the chronograph functions can be controlled by simply pressing the single push-piece.

The Longines Column-Wheel Single Push-Piece Chronograph comes in three versions, all with a 40 mm diameter. Two versions, one in steel and one in rose gold, feature Arabic numerals, and a third version, also available in steel, displays Roman numerals. The single push-piece, inserted into the fluted crown, recalls the original timepieces. The white dials are adorned with painted black numerals and a red "12", in a direct reference to the dials of the period. They are completed by two counters, at 3 and 9 o'clock, together with a date aperture at 6 o'clock and blued hands.

The cases are a particularly interesting feature of these timepieces. Two of the models have a well-rounded case, available in steel and in rose gold. Taking its inspiration from an historic timepiece, the third model in steel is fitted with moving lugs. This version has a thicker case with a more angular profile. On all three versions, the movement's blue column wheel can be admired through the transparent sapphire crystal case back. All models of The Longines Column-Wheel Single Push-Piece Chronograph are fitted with a brown alligator strap.

  • Longines - The Tachymeter Chronograph

The Longines Tachymeter Chronograph features a technical tool initially introduced around 1811 to measure the hourly pace in assembly lines, as well as the velocity of the first modern means of locomotion: the tachymeter. To measure the hourly pace, the chronograph is started at the beginning of a task and stopped once the task is completed. The hand then shows the average production pace per hour. To find out the velocity of a subject, the chronograph is activated at distance zero and stopped once the distance of one kilometre has been covered. The hand then indicates the average velocity in units measured.

The Longines Tachymeter Chronograph now combines in a very unique way the technical specifications of a tachymeter with the values of the brand, namely tradition, performance and elegance. The circular steel case with a diameter of 41 mm houses the caliber L688, a self-winding mechanical movement with a column-wheel chronograph mechanism exclusively developed for Longines, which can be admired through a transparent case back. The model features a date aperture at 4h30, a small second at 9 o'clock, a 30-minutes counter at 3 o'clock and a 12-hours counter at 6.
Besides its extraordinary technical features, the model stands out with its remarkable design. The white lacquered dial is inspired by the one of a chronograph developed by Longines in 1934 and contrasts perfectly with the black Arabic numerals, the tachymeter scale in blue (1000 m) and red (100 m). A subtle touch of elegance is added to this model by its blued steel Breguet hands indicating hours and minutes and the blued steel counter-weight line pear hand indicating the seconds. To complete the traditional yet contemporary design of the model, it is mounted on an elegant black alligator strap.

  • Lifestyle - Every Day Timing

    Worldtempus - 12 March 2013
There are a host of wonderful timepieces on the market that fit in any woman's daily life - from getting the kids off to school, to managing business meetings, and going out after work with co-workers. Generally, these watches are strap or bracelet watches and often add a twist of versatility via either interchangeable straps or two-tone appeal. Indeed, with the price of an ounce of gold continually in the high retail prices, savvy dressers are looking for ways to mix gold with white metals such as sterling silver and stainless steel to get the most of today's best accessories looks for a more affordable price.

Often, too, these watches have a little extra function to them. Some may sport a date indicator, a sub seconds dial or a chronograph. Top watch brands today totally understand the concept of ease and comfort on the wrist for daily needs, and are complying by offering some of the trendiest, but timelessly elegant, watches on the market. Most often these watches are an insatiable mix of stainless steel and rose gold tones - often with a shimmering accent of diamonds to bring the look all together for a day to night appeal. What's more, today's trends are calling for slightly smaller watches, so most of these beauties are a sleek 30 to 34mm in diameter - perfect for any wrist.

Among the top brands in this arena are Baume & Mercier, with its classic Linea line that features interchangeable straps and bracelets that the wearer can easily change to match her any mood. In fact, recently, the brand even teamed with actress Emmanuelle Chriqui to design a strap for Linea. The result is a sporty chic woven strap in orange, tan and white.

Similarly, brands such as Longines and Raymond Weil are also on top of trends with two-tone bracelet looks and seasonal color strap watches that let women mix and match their jewelry wardrobe and always be in style. For everyday living and easy wearability in any situation, basic is beautiful.

  • Longines - The Longines Column-Wheel Chronograph

Having launched a watch fitted with an exclusive, self-winding chronograph movement with a column wheel which controls the chronograph functions in 2009, Longines has now identified new uses for this exceptional, user-friendly calibre. Longines mandated and paid ETA to develop this brand-new exclusive movement. Under the name of The Longines Column-Wheel Chronograph, these latest models represent an updated version of the timing equipment that Longines has developed over the years.
Longines mandated and paid ETA to develop a brand-new exclusive self-winding movement with a column wheel for a wrist chronograph. The reference number given to the new calibre was L688.2. As part of the continual programme of reviving the mechanical watch that was started at the beginning of the 21st century, this new creation meets the requirements of changing demand with regard to watches as well as the growing popularity of mechanical chronographs and the fascination for traditional horological devices. Column-wheel chronographs correspond to the new taste in watches. As part of the line of timing instruments created by Longines, this calibre constitutes the present-day embodiment of the far-reaching experience in mechanical time-keeping that is the heritage of the famous Swiss watchmaker.
Longines started producing timing equipment in 1878 with a simple 20 line chronograph (reference no. 20H) that had a column wheel that controlled the chronograph functions. Almost all the timing devices designed by Longines following this foray into the world of time-keeping used the same basic concept. Thus the calibres for pocket chronographs designed by Longines, such as the 19CH (1889), the 19.73 (1897), the 19.73N (1909) and the 19.73N fly-back (1922), the 18.72 (1929) or the 24 line calibre designed specifically for sports timing (1939), as well as the brand's movements for wrist chronographs such as the 13.33Z (1913), the famous 13ZN (1946) or the 30CH (1947) all used column-wheel systems to control and activate the chronograph functions, which varied from one calibre to another.
All this timing equipment forms the basis for Longines' historical involvement in timing and the world of sport. At Longines, the mechanical column-wheel chronograph is therefore a traditional and authentic, technical device. The Longines Column-Wheel Chronograph models perpetuate this watchmaking heritage into the 21st century using cutting-edge technology.
Fitted with 27 jewels, the L688.2 movement is a self-winding calibre with a diameter of 30 mm and a height of 7.90 mm. The purpose of its column wheel is to control the chronograph functions (start, stop, return to zero). This system, and in particular the column wheel that was designed by ETA's engineers, is exceptionally user-friendly for a mechanical chronograph, requiring only the finest touch to start and stop the mechanism and to reset the hands at zero. The blued steel column wheel is surrounded by the fascinating beauty of a movement which is in fact an updated version of a traditional technical system. In addition to its refined design, the L688.2 calibre reveals a construction designed to meet the demands of timing. Longines has so far created several timepieces as a tribute to this high-tech movement. The combination of these timing features and the re-issue of an elegant, traditional or sporty design results in several The Longines Column-Wheel Chronograph models that are contemporary watches steeped in the great tradition of mechanical timing.

The Moon has been used to measure time by every civilisation; this night star is feminine, cyclical and eternal. A star that produces dreams! In many cultures the New Moon is a symbol of renewal when it marks the beginning of a new year or the arrival of spring. To pay tribute to this mystical star, the famous Saint-Imier watchmaker is launching an exquisitely fine interpretation of the magic of the Moon this year: the Longines PrimaLuna.
The subtle mystery of spring, the Longines PrimaLuna emerges from a wakening world. The Moon is no longer pale but iridescent, opaline, masterful. Sheherazade moves elegantly into position under the stars...

The delicate gleam of stainless steel, the rich hue of rose or yellow gold, or the blend of rose gold and steel. A sleek bracelet of steel, gold or steel and rose gold or a leather strap. A selection of heavenly dials: white, silvered or mother-of-pearl decorated with hour symbols, Arabic or Roman numerals or diamonds. And finally, three hands, blued, gilded or rose, that marks the passing of time. As multifaceted as the modern woman, the Longines PrimaLuna range offers a selection of models in four sizes.

This ladies' watch is at the same time a piece of jewellery. The pleasing curves of the case are enhanced by a play of diamonds. Precious pieces of pure carbon that glitter with fascination... so feminine! Similarly, the white mother-of-pearl dials of the most sophisticated models are also decorated with sparkling teardrops that will seduce any woman who appreciates diamonds.
Resolutely elegant, contemporary, subtle and carefree. The new Longines PrimaLuna offers to every woman, every modern Sheherazade, to each luminous, unique female a magical world represented by this new collection of exquisite models.
