  • Longines - CSI A Coruña

More than 96 riders and 165 horses headed to Spain from 11 to 13 December 2015 for the 31st running of the CSI A Coruña winter edition. Top Riders from both the national and international scene vied for first place at the 6 competitions among the 5* category, of which four of them count towards rider's points on the Longines FEI rankings.
Longines was the Main Partner, the Official Timekeeper and the Official Watch of the International Show Jumping of La Coruña held at Casas Novas' prestigious winter competition. As such, the Swiss watchmaker presented the highlight of the weekend: the Longines Grand Prix, which was won by Netherlands' Lisa Nooren on Vdl Groep Centora De Wallyro.
The winner received an elegant Longines watch from the hands of Juan-Carlos Capelli, Vice President of Longines and Head of International Marketing.

As the Official Watch of the CSI A Coruña, Longines presented a lady model of the new Longines DolceVita, which represents the contemporary elegance of the Longines watchmaking brand worldwide. The watch is cased in steel, decorated with diamonds and featuring a silver-coloured "flinque" dial adorned with painted Roman numerals.

  • Longines - Heritage Diver 1967

Today, Longines draws on its rich watchmaking history and reissues a a divers watch dating back to 1967, a copy of which is kept in the Swiss watchmaker's museum in Saint-Imier.
The divers watches of the time borrowed the pilot watch system, in particular their notched rotating bezel with divisions in minutes. This device makes it possible to calculate the length of the dive. The tachymeter scale of the internal flange is used to calculate the speed of the diver: the chronograph must be triggered at the starting point and stopped once the distance of one kilometre is completed. The hand will indicate the average speed.

With a diameter of 42 mm, The Longines Heritage Diver 1967 case houses a self-winding L688.2 movement. This chronograph features a completely original design, reflecting the model that inspired it. It's silver-coloured asymmetrical counters stand out against the black opaline dial.

The bordeaux graduated bezel and silver-coloured tachymeter scale of this model add elegant touches of colour to the overall piece. In the spirit of divers watches, the hands and hour markers are coated in Super-LumiNova® while the back and crown of the piece are screwed to ensure water resistance of up to 30 bar. The watches are fitted with a steel bracelet, black leather or rubber strap. An engraving of a diver adorns the caseback as a reminder of the first divers watches produced by Longines.

  • Longines - Conquest 1/100th Horse Racing

Longines continues its tradition as timekeeper for equestrian sports and unveils a new model to add to its Conquest collection, the Conquest 1/100th Horse Racing, a silver faced range of the Conquest 1/100th.

Longines, timekeeper for sporting performances since the end of the 19th Century, is launching a new line of watches that have been specially created for sports which require high precision timing. The Conquest 1/100th series responds to the needs of athletes, professionals and sports fans, besides many others, since it measures multiple intermediary times and has an intuitive analogue display that shows the time to
one hundredth of a second using a separate hand.

The Conquest 1/100th Horse Racing chronograph, which keeps time to one hundredth of a second, features a new unique quartz movement, the L440. This new model includes a microcontroller with a flash memory that allows the watch to be reset instantly and allows intermediary times to be recorded. With a diameter of 41 mm, this bright steel model has a silver face that displays hours, minutes, small seconds at 6 o'clock, the date and other
chronographic functions: a central seconds hand, a 30-minute stopwatch at 2 o'clock and a 12-hour stopwatch at 10 o'clock. The hand in red displays time to one hundredth of a second and is the watch's crowning glory at the centre. The model is also fitted with a
steel bracelet and a butterfly clasp.

  • Longines - The Tachymeter Chronograph

The Longines Tachymeter Chronograph features a technical tool initially introduced around 1811 to measure the hourly pace in assembly lines, as well as the velocity of the first modern means of locomotion: the tachymeter. To measure the hourly pace, the chronograph is started at the beginning of a task and stopped once the task is completed. The hand then shows the average production pace per hour. To find out the velocity of a subject, the chronograph is activated at distance zero and stopped once the distance of one kilometre has been covered. The hand then indicates the average velocity in units measured.

The Longines Tachymeter Chronograph now combines in a very unique way the technical specifications of a tachymeter with the values of the brand, namely tradition, performance and elegance. The circular steel case with a diameter of 41 mm houses the caliber L688, a self-winding mechanical movement with a column-wheel chronograph mechanism exclusively developed for Longines, which can be admired through a transparent case back. The model features a date aperture at 4h30, a small second at 9 o'clock, a 30-minutes counter at 3 o'clock and a 12-hours counter at 6.
Besides its extraordinary technical features, the model stands out with its remarkable design. The white lacquered dial is inspired by the one of a chronograph developed by Longines in 1934 and contrasts perfectly with the black Arabic numerals, the tachymeter scale in blue (1000 m) and red (100 m). A subtle touch of elegance is added to this model by its blued steel Breguet hands indicating hours and minutes and the blued steel counter-weight line pear hand indicating the seconds. To complete the traditional yet contemporary design of the model, it is mounted on an elegant black alligator strap.

  • Longines - 180th Anniversary!

To mark the occasion, 180 celebrity guests, local politicians, representatives of the Swatch Group and journalists listened to a welcome address. Recalling Longines' rich history and its continued development across the ages, the various speakers - including Nick Hayek, President of the Executive Group Management Board of The Swatch Group, and Walter von Känel, Director of Longines - all emphasised the importance of the close ties that link the company to the town of Saint-Imier. Then Pierre-Yves Donze presented his latest work, Longines - From a Family Business to a Global Brand, which recounts the company's history. The other highlight of the day was the official reopening of the Longines Museum. The guests had the opportunity of discovering the various refurbished rooms where all Longines' historical treasures are on display.

In 1832, Auguste Agassiz joined the world of watchmaking when he became an associate of a watch trading office installed in Saint-Imier - this was the start of the history of Longines. Today the company is celebrating its 180th anniversary in Saint-Imier itself, in the presence of 180 celebrity guests. In his welcome speech, the Director of Longines, Walter von Känel, recalled with some emotion the brand's rich history. With regard to the dev

elopment of Longines within The Swatch Group, Nick Hayek, President of the Executive Group Management Board of The Swatch Group, said : « It has always been Longines' and the Swatch Group's strategy to invest in Saint-Imier in order to preserve the Swiss identity and the one of this valley ».The Mayor of Saint-Imier, Stephane Boillat, focused on the close links between Longines and the St. Imier valley, while the member of the Swiss Council of States, Philippe Perrenoud, emphasised the important role played by Longines and the Swatch Group within the canton of Berne.

Subsequently, Pierre-Yves Donze presented his latest book, commissioned to mark the occasion and entitled Longines - From a Family Business to a Global Brand, which recounts the history of Longines, from its origins as a watch trading office to its present-day status as indeed a worldwide brandname. Describing economic and structural issues, as well as technical developments and innovations, this work presents the evolution of Longines through various key people and the strategic and political decisions they took which have shaped the company into what it is today.

The welcome address was followed by the reopening of the Longines Museum. An initial room, dedicated to the history of the brand known by its winged hourglass logo, was opened in 1992 by the late Nicolas G. Hayek, founder and president of the SMH Group (today The Swatch Group). The entire museum has been refurbished this year, to mark the company's 180th anniversary, and offers visitors a coherent, structured presentation of all the different aspects of the history of Longines. At the opening ceremony a ribbon was cut by Elisabeth Baume-Schneider, President of the canton Jura Government, Philippe Perrenoud, member of the Swiss Council of States for canton Bern, Philippe Gnaegi, President of the State Council, along with the Mayor of Saint-Imier, Stephane Boillat and Walter von Känel, Director of Longines. The guests then had an opportunity to discover, or re-discover, the brand's treasures and heritage.

  • Longines - Conquest 24 hours, the elegance of performance

Founded in the town of Saint-Imier, the famous Swiss watchmaker Longines, which celebrates this year its 180th anniversary, has a long tradition marked by the continual elegance and performance of its products. The Conquest line is the quintessential expression of Longines' sporting elegance and presents most emblematic pieces within the Longines Sport Collection. The Conquest series perpetuates the spirit of conquest of all those who, to discover new horizons, have dared to go further than others, without sacrificing elegance. It is with this spirit and its personal heritage that Longines has designed the models in the Conquest line. The design of each watch contains the subtle fusion of performance and elegance, including the most demanding technical characteristics.

The new Conquest 24 hours now adds a second time zone, a tool used by pilots crossing different time-zones in both directions. The new Conquest 24 hours will attract people with an adventurous streak always trying to get a step further without sacrificing elegance. With its water-resistance to 5 bar (50 m), this model is not only a reliable partner in the air but also under water.

The robust, yet elegant stainless steel case of the new Conquest 24 hours has a diameter of 41 mm and houses a self-winding mechanical movement. The sapphire glass with anti-reflective coating on the underside protects a black, silvered or blue dial with 2 applied Arabic numerals and 9 applied indices. Rhodium-plated hands with Super-LumiNova show hours, minutes and seconds, the date is indicated at 3 o'clock. The bright red 24-hour hand immediately attracts the eye. All models are available on a stainless steel bracelet and have a screw-in back cover and crown. Another feature is the lateral protection for the crown.
