    More than 96 riders and 165 horses headed to Spain from 11 to 13 December 2015 for the 31st running of the CSI A Coruña winter edition. Top Riders from both the national and international scene vied for first place at the 6 competitions among the 5* category, of which four of them count towards rider's points on the Longines FEI rankings.
    Longines was the Main Partner, the Official Timekeeper and the Official Watch of the International Show Jumping of La Coruña held at Casas Novas' prestigious winter competition.     The 140th Kentucky Derby was held this past weekend in Louisville, KY, and kicked off the first in the Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing.   • Longines - The Tachymeter Chronograph


    The Longines Tachymeter Chronograph features a technical tool initially introduced around 1811 to measure the hourly pace in assembly lines, as well as the velocity of the first modern means of locomotion: the tachymeter. To measure the hourly pace, the chronograph is started at the beginning of a task and stopped once the task is completed. The hand then shows the average production pace per hour. To find out the velocity of a subject, the chronograph is activated at distance zero and stopped once the distance of one kilometre has been covered. The hand then indicates the average velocity in units measured.


    The Longines Tachymeter Chronograph now combines in a very unique way the technical specifications of a tachymeter with the values of the brand, namely tradition, performance and elegance. The circular steel case with a diameter of 41 mm houses the caliber L688, a self-winding mechanical movement with a column-wheel chronograph mechanism exclusively developed for Longines, which can be admired through a transparent case back. The model features a date aperture at 4h30, a small second at 9 o'clock, a 30-minutes counter at 3 o'clock and a 12-hours counter at 6.

Churchill Downs will be decked out in pink as well, including pink-colored bunting, flower beds, flags and jockeys' and pony riders' apparel. Churchill Downs bugler Steve Buttleman will sport a pink uniform as he calls horses to the post throughout Longines Kentucky Oaks Day.
    Longines Kentucky Oaks Fashion Contest

    $1 Million Longines Kentucky Oaks
    Kentucky Oaks Day - an unofficial Louisville holiday with many schools and businesses closed - is the third largest attended horse race in America only behind the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes. In 2012, 112,552 attended the festivities, which marked the 12th time in the last 13 years that attendance topped the 100,000 mark. With a $1 million guaranteed purse, The Longines Kentucky Oaks is the most lucrative American horse race for 3-year-old fillies. Twenty-six Oaks winners have gone on to be crowned with an Eclipse Award as North America's champion 3-year-old filly and nine are enshrined in racing's Hall of Fame.
    The lofty purse reflects the Oaks' status and importance as a sports and entertainment event. Wagering on the 12-race card in 2012 was a record $39.9 million, which included an unprecedented $11.8 million on the Oaks alone. The maximum number of starters in the race is 14, and at least 13 fillies have been in the starting gate for five of the last seven years. The winner receives a silver trophy, a garland of pink star-gazer lilies and an estimated $564,200 payday.

    This year, the famous Swiss watchmaker reprises its role as the official timekeeper for the International Ski Federation's (FIS) Alpine Ski World Cup and World Championship races.

    Longines will be celebrating its return to Kitzbuhel and is extremely proud to be responsible once again for timing the Hahnenkamm races. Longines will also partner with the 16th KitzCharity Trophy. This season the brand launched the Longines Rising Ski Stars prize, which reflects the company's commitment to supporting young athletes. The official watch for the season will be the Longines Saint-Imier Collection chronograph, a model that exemplifies the links that bind the brand to the town where it was founded in 1832 and where its headquarters remains.
    Longines' longstanding association with competitive skiing started in Chamonix in 1933. The Swiss watchmaker began timing the Hahnenkamm races in Kitzbuhel in 1948 and has carried out this task more than 50 times since then.     Under the new agreement - which marks the biggest sponsorship deal ever brokered by the FEI - Longines becomes the Official Top Partner, Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of the FEI. Longines will take on a number of key FEI properties including the title sponsorship of the FEI World Cup™ Jumping before the start of the new season in October 2013. 

    An official signing ceremony will take place in Lausanne (SUI) on 15 January 2013, when the contract will be signed jointly by FEI President HRH Princess Haya, and Mrs Nayla Hayek, Chair of the Swatch Group Board of Directors. Full details of the agreement will be unveiled as part of the signing ceremony in January 2013.

    Starting from 2012, renowned Swiss watchmaker Longines has become the title sponsor and official timekeeper of the Longines Hong Kong International Races, one of the most sensational races of the horseracing season in Hong Kong. To present an exciting head start, Longines also title sponsored the Longines Jockey Club Cup held on 18th November 2012 at the Shatin Racecourse. Widely regarded as the lead-up event to the Longines Hong Kong International Races, the Cup is an international Group 2 race over 2000m, offering a prize of HK$3 million. 

    This exciting race was won by California Memory rode by Matthew Chadwick after rounds of fierce running and speed combat in the time of 2 minutes and 1.51 seconds. The winning owner, trainer and jockey were each awarded with a watch from The Longines Saint-Imier Collection, presented by Mr. Charles Villoz, Vice President & Head of International Sales of Longines, and Ms Karen Au Yeung, Vice President of Longines Hong Kong. However, the excitement did not end here. Shortly after, the winners of the "Most Elegant Hat Award" and the "Racing Specialist Game" were announced and both winners received a watch from The Longines Saint-Imier Collection.
