  • Longines - Longines Masters of Los Angeles

This event inaugurated the newly named Longines Masters, a series combining the very best sports level with the most elegant lifestyle on a unique staging. During the four days of the event, the guests had the chance to experience exceptional and exhilarating show jumping competitions while also enjoying various social events that celebrated the glamorous Los Angeles spirit.

On the sporting side, Longines gave its name to some highlights of the Longines Masters of Los Angeles: the Longines Speed Challenge on Friday, won by Ireland's Bertram Allen on Quiet Easy 4 and the Longines Grand Prix on Sunday, claimed by Germany's Marco Kutscher on Van Gogh. In the former, the competitors' aim is to achieve the fastest time, knowing that 2 penalty seconds are added for each pole that is knocked down, while the latter celebrates the highest level of show jumping.

The brand also took part on Saturday in the Pro-Am "Style & Competition" for Charity, a class aiming at raising money for charitable organizations in a glamorous atmosphere. In this trial, each team consists of two riders, one from among the world's best professional riders and an "amateur". This year, Longines was supporting Jane Richard Phillips and Hannah Selleck, who competed for JustWorld International. This institution, founded by Jessica Newman in 2003, acts as a catalyst for positive change in the developing world by working with local partner organizations to provide basic education, nutrition, health, hygiene, and vocational programs for children in impoverished communities in Honduras, Cambodia, Guatemala, and Colombia.

The Longines DolceVita line was the Official Watch of the event. Inspired by the Italian sweet life, the "Dolce Vita", it is worn on the wrists of women who know how to make the most of life's simple pleasures. As a tribute to those ladies, Longines has decided to offer a new interpretation of this collection, subtly combining geometric lines with soft curves.

  • Longines - The Prix de Diane Longines

The Prix de Diane Longines, the world's top race for fillies, offered last week-end a spectacular sporting rendezvous at the Chantilly racecourse. Lanfranco Dettori on Star of Seville won the coveted title of this top-level flat race day in front of more than 45'000 spectators.

Longines was associated with this event as Title Partner, Official Timekeeper and Official Watch. Longines Ambassador of Elegance Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was present at Chantilly and awarded Sandra Challal with the "Mademoiselle Diane par Longines" prize for her outstanding style.

  • Longines - Prize for Elegance in Izmir

Longines has a longstanding partnership with the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) and is the Official Partner and Timekeeper of the 33rd Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships 2014.

Especially in gymnastics, movement is a challenge requiring not only flawless execution, but also intangible grace, beauty and harmony known as "elegance". As the Official Partner and Timekeeper of the 33rd Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships 2014 in Izmir, Longines presented the Longines Prize for Elegance, for which all participants in the individual all-around finals held on Friday September 26th were nominated. The gymnasts under consideration for the prize were evaluated according to a number of complementary criteria.

Set up in 1997, the Longines Prize for Elegance takes the form of a trophy representing a gymnast in movement created especially for Longines by the Swiss artist Jean-Pierre Gerber. In addition, the proud winner Yana Kudryavtseva received a cheque worth US$ 5,000 and an elegant Longines timepiece. The Official Watch of the 33rd Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships was a Conquest Classic model in steel and rose gold, featuring a white mother-of-pearl dial set with 12 diamond indices.

Yana Kudryavtseva, newly-appointed Longines Ambassador of Elegance, did not miss the opportunity in Izmir to demonstrate once again that she is one of the best rhythmic gymnasts of her generation.

Longines first became involved in gymnastics in 1912, when it launched an innovative electro-mechanical timing system. For over twenty years the brand has been the official partner and timekeeper for artistic and rhythmic gymnastics competitions organized by the International Gymnastics Federation.

  • Longines - The Longines Heritage 1973

The Longines Heritage 1973 displays a vintage look that is true to the original model. The latter, a chronograph produced in 1973 by the brand, was fitted with a Longines mechanical chronograph movement, the 30CH. The Longines Heritage 1973 houses the L688 calibre, a column-wheel chronograph movement developed and produced by ETA exclusively for Longines.

The silvered dial of the Longines Heritage 1973 boasts a fascinating play of contrasts. At 3 and 9 o'clock, two black counters were included. The applied hour symbols are decorated with a fine black line and a dot of Super-LumiNova®. These are interposed and balanced out by a minute-circle, also of fine black lines. A blue tachometric scale surrounds the dial, adding a subtle touch of colour to the whole.

With a diameter of 40 mm, the cushion-shaped steel dial of the Longines Heritage 1973 has retained the lines and mood of the original model. The back is fitted with a transparent sapphire glass cover through which the wearer can admire the movement of the calibre as well as the blue column-wheel. This model is completed by the rounded push-pieces. The whole is mounted on a black alligator strap.

  • Longines - Andre Agassi and Stefanie Graf to the French Open!

There will be a special aspect to the French Open Tennis Tournament in Roland Garros this year: Andre Agassi and Stefanie Graf will be present on 6 June to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their respective victories at this prestigious Parisian tournament. It is the ideal opportunity for Longines, the watchmaker for which they are Ambassadors of Elegance, to organise the event of the year around these two tennis legends and their charity foundations. Among other things the programme will include: 8 challenges between the two champions and budding stars from over ten different countries, a gala evening and a very special auction. The whole event will take place under the sign of elegance, the key characteristic of watches made by Longines, the Official Partner of Roland Garros since 2007.

Longines' history is closely linked to that of sports timing. As the Official Partner of the legendary French Open at Roland Garros since 2007, the brand has consolidated its links with the world of tennis by choosing Andre Agassi the same year and Stefanie Graf in 2008 as Ambassadors of Elegance. The couple share a love of excellence, elegance and beauty with the Swiss watch brand, together they embody the brand's values and slogan perfectly: "Elegance is an attitude". By supporting the respective charities of the two tennis legends Longines is once again reaffirming its humanitarian commitment.
First of all, two Longines Smash Corners will be installed to mark the occasion, one within the grounds of Roland Garros and the other in front of the Paris Town Hall. The idea of the Longines Smash Corners is for the public to test their tennis skills by measuring the speed of their service. By paying 2 Euros each person will be allowed 3 attempts and will go home with a certificate to show their performance. Longines will donate the money collected at the Longines Smash Corners to the two former champions' charities, namely the Andre Agassi Foundation and Children for Tomorrow.
Saturday 6 June 2009 promises to be a day of pure fun and excitement! The morning will be devoted to children. 16 budding champions of various nationalities will have the enormous honour of playing against Andre and Stefanie on the red sand of Roland Garros. The young players will be selected from countries ranging from France, Switzerland, Germany and Spain to China, Taiwan, Mexico, Singapore, Russia and Poland. Two will be chosen from the USA, namely from the Andre Agassi Foundation. The event will comprise eight matches featuring Andre Agassi against one child and Stefanie Graf against a different child. For every challenge, Longines will donate USD 10,000 to the foundation set up by the former tennis star who has won. There will be an audience of 650 people for the eight challenge matches.
The tennis session will be followed by a photo shoot and a press conference. The press will thus be able to interview Andre Agassi and Stefanie Graf. During the press conference speeches will be given by members of the Swatch Group and Longines management.
A new setting, a different atmosphere. A gala evening which promises to be one series of superlatives will be held in the majestic Pavillon Cambon Capucines. An entrancing setting, a dazzling guest list, tennis stars, celebrities from the world of show business and politics - nothing has been left to chance for what promises to be an unforgettable evening!
The guests will be treated to the culinary specialities of one of the top Swiss chefs famed for his inventive dishes and the magic with which he updates traditional recipes. During the evening speeches will be given by representatives of Longines and the two charity foundations. The dinner will be followed by an auction of two Longines watches specially created to mark the occasion. The money raised from this auction will of course be donated to the Andre Agassi Foundation and Children for Tomorrow.
