    The concept of the Jumping Longines of Crans-Montana seduced the watch brand: Longines becomes the Title Partner and Official Timekeeper of the show-jumping event taking place in summer 2016. Longines is partnering with an event which will be featuring high-level equestrian sports, while its values are in line with the ones dear to the Swiss watch company.

    The Jumping Longines of Crans-Montana will take place from 28 to 31 July 2016. It will be situated in the center of the famous tourist station, in the heart of the Valais. The event is set up by the association Jumping Crans-Montana, which relies on a committee of three members: François Besençon (President) and Yves Rytz, both of them bly involved in the world of equestrian sports in the French-speaking part of Switzerland, and Daniel Perroud, Director of the Jumping Longines of Crans-Montana and organiser of several sports event.

The Pink Out encourages all Oaks attendees to wear pink or incorporate pink into their attire to show their support for cancer survivors. Churchill Downs will be decked out in pink as well, including pink-colored bunting, flower beds, flags and jockeys' and pony riders' apparel. Churchill Downs bugler Steve Buttleman will sport a pink uniform as he calls horses to the post throughout Longines Kentucky Oaks Day.
    Longines Kentucky Oaks Fashion Contest
    Ladies of all ages in attendance on Longines Kentucky Oaks Day can enter the Longines Kentucky Oaks Fashion Contest for the chance to win a stainless steel and rose gold Longines Saint-Imier Collection watch featuring a stunning diamond bezel. In 2012, 112,552 attended the festivities, which marked the 12th time in the last 13 years that attendance topped the 100,000 mark. With a $1 million guaranteed purse, The Longines Kentucky Oaks is the most lucrative American horse race for 3-year-old fillies. Twenty-six Oaks winners have gone on to be crowned with an Eclipse Award as North America's champion 3-year-old filly and nine are enshrined in racing's Hall of Fame.
    The lofty purse reflects the Oaks' status and importance as a sports and entertainment event. Wagering on the 12-race card in 2012 was a record $39.9 million, which included an unprecedented $11.8 million on the Oaks alone. The maximum number of starters in the race is 14, and at least 13 fillies have been in the starting gate for five of the last seven years. The winner receives a silver trophy, a garland of pink star-gazer lilies and an estimated $564,200 payday.

The guests had the opportunity of discovering the various refurbished rooms where all Longines' historical treasures are on display.


    In 1832, Auguste Agassiz joined the world of watchmaking when he became an associate of a watch trading office installed in Saint-Imier - this was the start of the history of Longines. Today the company is celebrating its 180th anniversary in Saint-Imier itself, in the presence of 180 celebrity guests. In his welcome speech, the Director of Longines, Walter von Känel, recalled with some emotion the brand's rich history. With regard to the dev

    elopment of Longines within The Swatch Group, Nick Hayek, President of the Executive Group Management Board of The Swatch Group, said : « It has always been Longines' and the Swatch Group's strategy to invest in Saint-Imier in order to preserve the Swiss identity and the one of this valley ».The Mayor of Saint-Imier, Stephane Boillat, focused on the close links between Longines and the St. Imier valley, while the member of the Swiss Council of States, Philippe Perrenoud, emphasised the important role played by Longines and the Swatch Group within the canton of Berne.


    Subsequently, Pierre-Yves Donze presented his latest book, commissioned to mark the occasion and entitled Longines - From a Family Business to a Global Brand, which recounts the history of Longines, from its origins as a watch trading office to its present-day status as indeed a worldwide brandname. Describing economic and structural issues, as well as technical developments and innovations, this work presents the evolution of Longines through various key people and the strategic and political decisions they took which have shaped the company into what it is today.


    The welcome address was followed by the reopening of the Longines Museum. An initial room, dedicated to the history of the brand known by its winged hourglass logo, was opened in 1992 by the late Nicolas G. Hayek, founder and president of the SMH Group (today The Swatch Group). The entire museum has been refurbished this year, to mark the company's 180th anniversary, and offers visitors a coherent, structured presentation of all the different aspects of the history of Longines. At the opening ceremony a ribbon was cut by Elisabeth Baume-Schneider, President of the canton Jura Government, Philippe Perrenoud, member of the Swiss Council of States for canton Bern, Philippe Gnaegi, President of the State Council, along with the Mayor of Saint-Imier, Stephane Boillat and Walter von Känel, Director of Longines. The guests then had an opportunity to discover, or re-discover, the brand's treasures and heritage.

    The Longines Column-Wheel Single Push-Piece Chronograph 180th Anniversary Limited Edition is closely based on the first wrist chronograph, manufactured by Longines in 1913 and fitted with calibre 13.33Z. The new model uses calibre L788, a column-wheel chronograph movement developed exclusively for Longines which enables the wearer to activate the various chronograph functions - go, stop and reset to zero - by simply pressing on the single push-piece integrated into the crown.     Though Andrasch Starke raced on a total of nine different horses in nine of the ten races that took place yesterday as the exciting close to a wonderful week in Iffezheim / Baden-Baden, I kept betting on him in the wrong races. Starke, you see, won the race that counted, though not the race that I thought he would win after listening to experts in horse racing expound upon the recent past of the jockeys, horses, and trainers taking part in yesterday's Grosser Preis von Baden. This sixth and final day of racing on the Iffezheim track closed with a bang.


    It was indeed Andrasch took the podium, triumphant on Danedream, in the race in which Longines offered a total of 250,000 euros and the prize of honor to the winners.
    The Iffezheim week is a highpoint of the social calendar in the German state of Baden in addition to being the most important event on Germany's horse racing calendar. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that there is a grand prix ball to celebrate the sporting occasion. Longines, the event's timing partner, also took guests to the Saturday evening gala event emceed by German actor Sky du Mont ("Der Schuh des Manitou") and during which Gloria Gaynor ("I Will Survive") sang her hits.


    If Longines had only been able to predict exactly which race Starke was going to win, I would have been able to partake more fully in the whole "grand prix" experience, though. Shouldn't there be a watch for that? Unfortunately, the Dolce Vita - the official watch of the Grosser Preis von Baden-Baden - wasn't quite outfitted with this function.

    The athletes under consideration for the prize had been evaluated according to a number of complementary criteria. In addition to technical considerations, each athlete's performance has been judged with respect to emotional appeal, beauty, charm, charisma as well as grace and harmony of movement.     For the third consecutive year, Longines is the official timekeeper for the racing at Royal Ascot. The Swiss watchmaker, with its well known slogan "Elegance is an attitude", was also a partner in the fashion show that was held during Royal Ascot week this year. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the uncontested Bollywood star and the brand's Ambassador of Elegance for the past 10 years, lit up the racecourse with her radiant presence. In between interviews and photo sessions, the film star managed to find time to admire the creations modelled in the Royal Ascot Fashion Show and to watch some racing in the afternoon. The watches are mounted on leather straps to match the dials. Even Aishwarya herself had some trouble choosing her favourite!
    Throughout the world, Royal Ascot is held to be one of the most prestigious sporting events, combining tradition and performance for the last 300 years. Today, Royal Ascot draws over 300,000 visitors during the week.

    Saint-Imier, 18th February 2009 - Married in real life, the two tennis legends and Longines Ambassadors of Elegance, Andre Agassi and Stefanie Graf, have united on screen for the brand's latest advertising campaign shot in December 2008. The previous year Andre Agassi joined the family of Longines' ambassadors. The first spot showed the tennis star and the children supported by Agassi's charity, the Andre Agassi Foundation. The humanitarian ideals of the famous watch manufacturer and those of Agassi have a lot in common.

    One year later, tennis legend Stefanie Graf also became a Longines Ambassador of Elegance. Under the dazzling Las Vegas sun a second film adventure began. Mandy Walker captures the magic of the couple's visit to the Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy.

    Longines' history is closely linked to that of sports timekeeping. As the official partner of the legendary Roland Garros tennis tournament since 2007, the brand has yet again reinforced its links with the world of tennis by choosing Andre Agassi and Stefanie Graf as its Ambassadors of Elegance.

    Early December saw the start of filming in the warmth of the Las Vegas sun with the young director Terry Hall in the driver's seat. An advertising spot, but at the same time a real film, it captures the genuine heart-felt generosity and empathy of the couple. The commitment of Andre and Stefanie can be clearly seen in the work that their respective foundations do to help disadvantaged children.

    Followed by Mandy Walker's camera, Andre Agassi visits various classes at the Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy, which is supported by his Foundation. The youngest pupils are having a drawing lesson. After a good deal of laughter, the children concentrate on their masterpieces. Agassi looks at their work closely. The budding artists don't seem to be particularly intimidated by their famous visitor nor by the presence of the film crew.

    For most of them, it is actually their second experience of filming because they were also featured in the first film made in 2007. What is more, the children are not acting because most of the little stars are students at the school that bears Andre Agassi's name. Mandy Walker zooms in on the tiny faces. A little girl looks at her quite openly and says "I learn effort." A young boy says "I learn respect."

    The scene changes: a lawn basking in the sun, an ancient tree. The radiant Stefanie Graf is sitting with a group of children who are also drawing. Ms. Graf smiles and casts a caringeye over the group. The children speak to the camera again: "I learn to be myself," says one. A boy sitting next to Stefanie says "I learn to conquer my way." Stefanie looks at his drawing and realises that he is drawing her! A portrait of Andre then appears alongside hers.

    The film ends with a close-up of the couple, who announce in unison "It's time to give a bit of your time to others" as an echo the Longines slogan appears on the screen and offers the final word: "Elegance is an attitude". The film offers a few moments of intimacy, generosity, humanity and sharing between the Swiss watch manufacturer and its two ambassadors.
