  • Ralph Lauren - Sporting Collection

Inspired by Ralph Lauren's own love of travel and international exploration, the Ralph Lauren Sporting World Time watch offers a complication that is itself an invitation to travel. At the turn of a crown, 24 cities display the sequence of time around the globe and accompany you in journeying through the world of Ralph Lauren.

    Inspiration
In 1884, the International Meridian Conference in Washington decided to divide the Earth into 24 time zones, with the Greenwich meridian as longitude zero. In order to enable simultaneous readings of the time in several time zones, watchmakers have since devised and created a number of different horological complications. Among versions ranging from twin hour hands to world-time displays, the Sporting World Time features one of the most sought-after features in the watchmaking industry. With an engraved disc displaying all 24 time zones, the Sporting World Time model also offers a day/night indicator, a power-reserve display and a calendar. From New York to Paris, London to Hong Kong and Moscow to Tokyo, the Sporting World Time evokes the art of travel by allowing its owner to circle the globe at the turn of a crown.
The Sporting World Time offers a response to a growing interest and taste among citizens of the world for indulging in various leisure activities involving both sports and discovery. Subtly blending timeless elegance and functional attributes, the Sporting World Time is a long-distance traveling companion designed to reflect a perpetually moving world.

    Form & Functionality
The Sporting World Time watch offers a stainless steel version with an elegant yet relaxed look and feel. Enhanced by a bezel featuring six functional screws, this classic model is distinguished by a dial bearing Roman numerals and railroad-style minute track. This timepiece is crafted in a 45 mm stainless steel case water-resistant to 100 meters and fitted with a cobalt blue alligator strap and a matching pin buckle.

Combined with a day/night indicator, the watch simultaneously displays the local time and a second time zone selected from a disc engraved with the names of 24 cities. Its shimmering deep blue varnished dial is enhanced by a bright red second hand.

Beating at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) and endowed with a 40-hour power reserve, the Caliber RL939 was developed by Jaeger-LeCoultre for Ralph Lauren.

  • Jaeger-LeCoultre - Adrenalin Rush

    WORLDTEMPUS - 9 November 2012

After perusing the chic Aston Martin showroom near Hyde Park in London, I accompanied representatives from Jaeger-LeCoultre out to Millbrook. This testing ground for automobiles is where Aston Martin and other car makers put their products through their paces before releasing them to the public.
It is here that Aston Martin's patient driving teachers allowed me to take the new Vanquish and DB9 models, not yet even in retail stores, out for a spin, pushing the speedometer up to a full 130 mph (the highest speed allowed on the tracks). Naturally, the cars drove as smooth as silk, even at these high speeds.

    Adrenalin on the wrist
Even though the automobiles captured a great deal of my attention, Jaeger-LeCoultre's new Amvox 7 captured even more of it. The seventh timepiece in the line of exceptional Amvox sports watches is a chronograph with a twist: it contains a vertical trigger mechanism under the dial so that pushing on the sapphire crystal in just the right places will start, stop and reset the chronograph. The desired chronograph function can be locked by a slide on the side of the case so that timing intervals aren't accidentally started or stopped. Additionally, the 65-hour power reserve of the automatic movement is shown in a unique radial display that adds to the visuals' feeling of speed.

The Amvox collaboration has been partially so successful for Jaeger-LeCoultre because the timepieces of this collaboration authentically, but not tackily, contain design elements from Aston Martin's own set of codes as head designer Marek Reichman, who came to Aston Martin a few months after the start of the now eight-year collaboration, confirms. "It's important that the watch gives you a feeling similar to that of the car," he explained. "Both Aston Martin and Jaeger-LeCoultre stand for similar things, but live in different worlds: depth, richness of heritage, and being contemporary brands."
After eight years of limited editions only, the 44 mm titanium Amvox 7 finally represents an entry-level timepiece for the collection and is thus unlimited. Like all timepieces of this collection, it is outfitted with a quick-change strap system that allows the owner to change the look and feel of the watch instantaneously.

  • Jaeger-LeCoultre - Mad about Reverso

Jaeger-LeCoultre, known for aesthetic influence and refinement in the world of watch-making, announced today the creation of a special limited engraved design of their iconic Reverso watch for a Grande Reverso Ultra-Thin Tribute to the award-winning AMC series "Mad Men." Twenty-five custom-created and numbered pieces of The Grande Reverso Ultra-Thin Tribute to "Mad Men" will be available in February 2012.

Honoring Jaeger-LeCoultre's legacy of design expertise and the iconic style of "Mad Men," the limited edition will be presented in a distinctive, custom-designed walnut commemorative box featuring the Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce logo embossed on the top as well as hand-inscribed on the back of each numbered piece. Additionally, each piece includes a personalized commemorative letter from Roger Sterling, several high quality Jaeger-LeCoultre advertisement reproductions, pictures of the Grande Reverso Ultra-Thin Tribute to "Mad Men", and a copy of Roger Sterling's book "Sterling's Gold", autographed by show creator and executive producer, Matthew Weiner.

"Certain legends draw their strength from their age. Frozen in the past, immobilized forever, they speak only of the past. But sometimes, the magic is so great that a strange phenomenon takes place: the legend lives, breathes, mutates, becomes more beautiful, all the while retaining its aura. The Reverso is so unique that with the passing of time, it has been made in many guises without losing its essence", - says Jerôme Lambert, CEO, Jaeger-LeCoultre.

The Grande Reverso Ultra-Thin Tribute to "Mad Men" edition tells a story like no other timepiece. In 1931, a technically advanced watch was developed for polo players with a dial that could flip, protecting it from damage while also offering a personalized engraved case-back. Protected by patent, its art deco style and solid functionality was received with instant praise. The Reverso has evolved over the past eighty years with new faces, sizes and complications. Today, wearing one is an entry to an exclusive world - in terms of watch-making history and aesthetic refinement.

Since its premiere in 2007, "Mad Men" has established itself as one of television's most honored series. It reigns as the only cable series in history to ever win the Emmy® Award for Outstanding Drama Series four years in a row, as well as the Golden Globe® Award for Best Television Series - Drama for three consecutive years. "Mad Men" is produced by Lionsgate and premieres its fifth season on AMC in March, 2012.

  • Jaeger-LeCoultre - New website

Since the set-up of Antoine LeCoultre's workshop in 1833 in the legendary Vallee de Joux, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Manufacture in Switzerland has always regarded inventiveness as one of its core values. While this passion for creating and inventing has primarily been expressed over the past 178 years through the innumerable watches and movements that have made Jaeger-LeCoultre a leader in the watchmaking world, digital technology now means the brand can share its history, expertise and enthusiasm with a much wider audience.

Having developed and offered the first watchmaking school for the iPhone and iPad, the first interactive publication kiosk online - e-Library, the first Virtual Museum ever, devoted to a watchmaking legend - the Reverso - and the first watchmaking "Treasure Hunt "on Facebook, the Jaeger-LeCoultre website now, yet again, proves its desire to use the Internet as an exclusive space for expression and encounters with enthusiasts.
Ergonomics, speed and user-friendliness were paramount during the design phase. Modern, intuitive and luxurious but never ostentatious, the new Jaeger-LeCoultre website prides itself on the richness and variety of its content, enabling Internet users to indulge in a true brand experience. To enter the site, for the watchmaking aficionado and neophyte alike, is to immerse oneself in the very spirit of Jaeger-LeCoultre and become an actor in a saga that began nearly two centuries ago. The concept of this new site also demonstrates a commitment to the public through listening, dialogue, service, news and sharing.
It naturally features all models from the current collections, but also highlights older timepieces, via a comprehensive chronological presentation and a genuine virtual museum, to which both the Manufacture and internet users have made contributions. While the virtual museum has seen the legendary Reverso with the reversible case play a solo starring role in the watch's 80th anniversary year, it will soon be opening its doors to include other brand models.
In a world where image is king, videos offer visitors an insight into the artistry and craftsmanship displayed each day by watchmakers at the Manufacture, besides presenting the latest brand news and updates on cultural and sporting events in which Jaeger-LeCoultre is involved.
One of the strengths of the new site - an online space for dialogue and exchange in six languages - is its interactivity. A link to a concierge service makes it easy to contact the brand directly. Looking for some information, a practical query, advice? Whether by phone or mail, a Jaeger-LeCoultre concierge will respond to each request, anywhere in the world. This is a world in which all watchmaking enthusiasts are welcome. "LeClub" allows everyone to create a personalised space, where images of favourite watches, fact sheets or anything else related to the brand can be stored.
From traditional watchmaking to the digital world, via Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, the new Hub iPad application, and the watchmaking school now available on Android Market, Jaeger-LeCoultre forges a permanent link between past, present and the future. It's more than merely a Jaeger-LeCoultre "ecosystem", more than a 360-degree digital vision. Here in the Vallee de Joux, we prefer to think of this new website as a place of passion and sharing.

  • Veloptuous Times - Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

    WORLDTEMPUS - 17 June 2011

    Meyrin - Nyon - La Bassine - Le Sentier - Vallorbe - Baulmes - La Chaux - Sainte-Croix. Km: 125.

The land of watchmakers plays with contrasts. Full sun and torrential rain against an emerald lake and savage forests - all in the same day. Views beating to the rhythm of bike pedals, the variations become incredibly obvious. Uneven routes crisscrossing the countryside add to the contrasting enjoyment.

Leaving Meyrin, near Geneva, the Veloptuous Times participants passed through Nyon before directing their bikes straight for the forests leading to the Vallee de Joux. Last night, we stopped at Sainte-Croix, though Lake Neuchâtel took up a corner of the visible landscape.

The BMC bikes supplied for Veloptuous Times lend a sense of the extreme technical to the expedition in addition to the watchmakers we have been visiting. After more than 100 kilometers on these solid, technical machines, one can only thank their designers. Disk brakes, aluminum frame, and derailleur gears regulated to the millimeter make the comfort and security level of these bikes immense.
The first few wonderful kilometers between Agenhor in Meyrin and Hublot in Nyon posed no problems whatsoever. Warming up our limbs, this relatively short distance permitted us to take care of some last-minute purchases and details. Having left Jean-Marc Wiederrecht and his warm team at Agenhor, the members of Veloptuous Times moved on to Hublot. On the improvised menu was spaghetti carbonara, which was served to us by the brand within its micro garden in the industrial zone surrounding Nyon. Marine Lemonnier, in charge of communication, received us with a great smile -smiles being constant companions since we began this amazing adventure. Unfortunately, Jean-Claude Biver was detained from meeting with us.

It was already 3:00 pm when the two charged-up bikes began ascending the first of the Jura's foothills - there will, of course, be others. The sun was full and the air was heavy. The countryside slowly rolled by, splendidly full of the colors brought on by the end of the afternoon that was approaching. The shadows and the hills grew ever more as we ascended. The change in speed changed nothing else: we ascended and we got hot.
We stopped at a point that allowed us to see half of Lake Geneva. The essence of the trees changed. The leaves of the hardwoods were left behind for the pointy firs that now dominated the forest. The terrain chiefly comprising fields relented as the two-wheelers wandered between hills and valleys. The air became fresher as the altitude passed 1,000 meters. Now we needed to find a place to spend the night in our tent: a path led off the road toward a farm. It's as if the moment we needed water, there it was. And, fantastically, Alpine cheese and dried sausage as well.
The next morning, the cold was stimulating, which led us to quickly get ready and head out on the road to Rocheray, a town on Lake Joux. The road brought its share of surprises with a fox and a deer that scampered to get past. Finally there, Janek Deleskiewicz, director of design at Jaeger-LeCoultre and Marina Shvedova, in charge of international press relations, were waiting for us to share a breakfast.

Then we followed the emerald rivers of the lake, an exhilarating descent leading us in the direction of Vallorbe. After a time, we noticed some black clouds following us to the little village of Baulmes. It was from this moment, as the day was progressing within its comfortable Dr. Jekyll persona, that it switched unexpectedly over to Mr. Hyde. The storm broke, and for a good hour torrents of water struck out at us without pause and the temperature plunged. Climbing the slope at the same time, it suddenly showed 13 percent declivity for about eight kilometers. In contrast to the previous day, the next rise did not seem to end and finally ended in gusts of rain that was more than invigorating. Many turns of the pedals later, we arrived full of determination at De Bethune's workshop. Denis Flageollet, watchmaker-inventor and co-founder of the brand, welcomed us with open arms - two thoroughly wet and chilled figures - for an interview.
We spent the night exceptionally ensconced in the warmth of Sainte-Croix before departing for la Côte-aux-Fees the next morning.

  • Jaeger-LeCoultre - The 24th annual Veterans Day Ceremony

November 7, 2009 Fort Pierce, FLORIDA - The National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum hosted its 24th annual Veterans Day Ceremony ("Muster") on November 7th and 8th in Fort Pierce, Florida. Members of the Jaeger-LeCoultre North American team were on hand to witness and participate in the activities, including a 5K race, a live auction, and a live capabilities demonstration preformed by US Navy SEALs.

The Veterans Day ceremony honored several guests including Adm. Eric Olson, commander, U.S. Special Operations Command, and guest speaker Capt. Richard Phillips, former captain of the Maersk Alabama, who was held captive by pirates off the coast of Somalia before being rescued by the Navy SEALs.

"I am honored to stand here today in the midst of the true heroes of the Naval Special Warfare, " Phillips said. "Without their training and dedication, I can honestly say that I would not be standing here today."

"The muster is a great way to get both the frogmen and the public together to honor the legacy of Naval Special Warfare," McSween said. "The Museum is located on the original training grounds of the Navy's Naval Combat Demolition Units (NCDUs), which are the precursors to the modern-day SEALs. I can't think of a more appropriate location to bring the men of Naval Special Warfare together: this is their birthplace. It is great to witness SEALs revisit such an important place in their history".

Among the SEALs performing the capabilities demonstration, including fastroping, a sniper demonstration, and a hostage rescue, were two individuals who are currently testing and evaluating the newest addition to the Jaeger-LeCoultre diving line: the Master Compressor Diving Alarm Navy SEALs. As part of this program, these US Navy SEALs will be wearing the watch during their deployments and operations around the world. In addition to gathering performance information about the watch in an operational environment, they have visually documented it as well.
