  • Hublot - Ricardo Guadalupe

    Ricardo Guadalupe took over as Hublot's CEO on 1 January 2012, when his predecessor Jean-Claude Biver was made Chairman of the Board. He was born in 1965 in Neuchâtel to a Spanish family. After leaving school he studied at a Swiss business school before moving to the United States to follow a programme at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
    Once his studies were over he immediately joined the watchmaking industry, spending the first seven years of his professional career as Product Manager for Bulgari's Swiss operation. Ricardo Guadalupe met Jean-Claude Biver in 1994, and decided to join Blancpain, where he was made International Director for Sales and Marketing in 1997. In 2001 he became an independent consultant, and among other projects worked on the development of Leonard watches.
    His adventure with Hublot began in 2004. Alongside Jean-Claude Biver, Ricardo Guadalupe revived the brand, overseeing the development of the 'Art of Fusion' concept and the launch of the iconic Big Bang watch. Hublot joined the LVMH stable in 2008.

  • Hublot - Depeche Mode

    Ricardo Guadalupe had invited Martin Gore in the Hublot boutique located in the heart of Place Vendôme to launch their fundraising project for charity: water, a not-for-profit association whose mission is to ensure a clean and safe water supply in developing countries.

    This unique initiative is part of the Depeche Mode worldwide 2013 - 2014 Delta Machine Tour. To raise funds for charity: water, Hublot and Depeche Mode jointly unveiled:

    10 exceptional unique box sets, each containing a signed guitar and a special watch with a red chrono central hand, each engraved for one of the 10 cities with iconic meaning to Depeche Mode: Paris, New York, Basildon, Los Angeles, Milan, Warsaw, Moscow, Zurich, Berlin and Hamburg. The lucky buyer of the first box set (Paris) enjoyed the privilege of receiving it in person today at the Vendôme Hublot Boutique.

    The Depeche Mode Limited Edition 2014 watch series, made from steel (just 250 numbered pieces). These watches will be available in Hublot boutiques and throughout the international network very shortly.

    In grey steel, featuring a tone-on-tone calfskin strap with thermo-moulded nail shapes, the Depeche Mode Limited Edition 2014 series is a perfect embodiment of the Depeche Mode look, while also symbolising the Art of Fusion, a concept dear to Hublot.

    Depeche Mode and Hublot kicked off their partnership in 2010 by raising funds for The Teenage Cancer Trust through a charity concert at London's Royal Albert Hall, and a unique auction.

    In early 2013 in Berlin, Hublot and Depeche Mode decided to work together again on a larger scale, creating the Big Bang Depeche Mode limited series in black ceramic, in parallel with the Delta Machine world tour, for charity: water.

  • Hublot - New Interior Design Concept

    The opening of the Hublot boutique in the prestigious Istinye Park shopping centre in the Istinye quarter of Istanbul took place in the presence of Jean-Claude Biver, Chairman of Hublot. This opening in Istanbul heralds the arrival of a new concept in interior design for Hublot boutiques worldwide, a concept which has been developed entirely within the company. With a shop floor covering 50 square metres, the boutique in Istanbul gives a fresh interpretation of the concept of "fusion" so dear to the brand, using a new combination of materials such as silver brushed Oakwood and wool floors, silk-lined panels covering the walls, interwoven with elegant elements made from ebony and chromed steel to accentuate the display cases to great effect. In the more private spaces, gilded velvet is combined with a particularly elegant fabric to give a contemporary reinterpretation of XVIth century mouldings. A brand new lighting concept has also been installed for the display cases, using focused beams of light to highlight the watches, movements and precious stones. Together, these naturally create a soft, warm ambience in shades of grey and black, complemented by contemporary furniture, in particular the full grain leather sofas and armchairs which have been handmade in Italy. A range of light fittings including table lamps, wall lights and chandeliers, custom-made in Murano in Italy adds an artistic touch. To accentuate the display cases housing the showpieces, Hublot exclusively commissioned silvered, broad, rounded panes of glass made in Italy. Finally, the brand's key models have been reinterpreted on Pop Art-style canvases. The innovative and technological touch dear to Hublot is represented in the display cases with the spatial motors, which enable you to view a watch from all angles, and the special LCG glass panes which finely embellish the watch display cases on the walls. At the entrance, to welcome customers and invite them to enter the world of Hublot, a large plasma screen displays images of the brand's many events and partnerships. 66 Hublot Boutiques have been opened since 2007. Hublot chose to open its first boutique in Paris. Further boutiques are set to open in the coming weeks in Houston Texas, Munich in Germany, Lucerne in Switzerland and Santa Fe in Mexico, along with 3 new boutiques in China (in Shenyang, Changchun and Chengdu).
     

  • Hublot - 2 Million € BB

    This is a unique piece, a one-off, an even wilder gamble, a breathtaking expression of expertise providing a level of purity, colour, cut, finish and uniformity of the whole piece which is a truly rare feat.

    More than 13,000 hours were needed to cut the stones (with 45 gemcutters working non-stop for 1 month), which then took 2,000 hours to set.

    Each diamond in the piece could adorn a ring. Those set in the centre of the wristlet weight more than 0.40 carats.

    A secret project, the 2 MILLION € BB started life as a simple design hand-sketched around the table in Jean-Claude Biver's office at the Hublot stand at BaselWorld last year, as a "light-hearted confidential challenge" between Hublot's CEO and our master gemstone setters.

    Finished the day before BaselWorld 2011 opened, it would take no less than 12 months to bring this exceptional piece to life, made up of 637 baguette diamonds and a rose cut diamond on the crown, and featuring a Vendôme Tourbillon movement to appeal to lovers of fine watchmaking.

    A tour de force of patience and perfection, it was a long process. It consisted firstly of bringing the gemstones together, selecting them one by one to achieve perfect uniformity in terms of purity and colour (the diamonds selected by Hublot are of a remarkable quality, with colour graded as TOP WESSELTON and clarity of A VVS), then cutting each of them to the technical designs of the piece, and finishing by patiently setting each of them in a "Clou de Paris" setting, an extremely meticulous process, taking the master gemstone setters 9 months.

    All the diamonds used in this watch come from the same mine, located in Yakutsk in the Russian Far East, on the same latitude as Beijing and a 9-hour flight from Moscow. More than 270 carats of rough diamonds were chosen from a lot of 1500 carats, and from these the stones used were selected. For about a month, the expert hands of 45 gemcutters worked hard to create 637 baguette diamonds, totalling just over 141 carats..

    Today, at BASELWORLD 2011, the result is something which surpasses all expectations, a piece which crystallises the considerable creative and emotional investment, rendering it a true masterpiece, a perfect symbol of the fusion between jewellery and watchmaking.

    Before going on to achieve its ultimate destiny, as hinted at by the two little Vendôme columns on its dial which symbolise the most beautiful place in the world, the ultimate symbol of international luxury, the piece shall first go on display in the Hublot boutique at 10 Place Vendôme. A celebration of the creativity, ingenuity, skill, confidence, madness, perseverance and passion… needed to make the wildest dreams a reality.

Argentina's current national team coach is also known as the "player of the 20th century" in honour of his exceptional career which has left its mark on the history of world football.
