  • Corum Admirals Cup Mens Watch 08210129/V200PN

The Corum watch is beautiful. Nothing wrong with it. It came in a large watch case, a cloth to clean it, and warranty information. It has interesting features and seems very durable. It takes a bit to get everything set on the watch, but otherwise I am very happy with the purchase.

  • Corum - Second on the podium of the Julius Baer

Antonio Calce, CEO of Corum watches, announces with emotion and proudness the final result of the Okalys-Corum team at the Grand Prix Beau-Rivage Palace in Lausanne. The team of Nicolas Grange, owner and skipper, with Loïck Peyron at the helm of the Decision 35, wins a brilliant second place on the podium of the Challenge Julius Baer.

Talent, motivation and complicity are the key-words which build up the team's strength during this competition on the Lake Leman. The team members have been actively supported by Corum's 160 employees' encouragements. With this second place on the podium, the Okalys-Corum team offers a real reward to the collaborators of the watchmaking brand of la Chaux-de-Fonds.
Last race of the Challenge Julius Baer, the Grand Prix Beau-Rivage was announced as one of the most challenged ; a regatta week-end with at the stake a secured place on the podium for Okalys- Corum which shared the trio at the head of the challenge with Alinghi SUI-1 and Foncia. The issue of the race on the lemanique waters depended on the tactic, the team spirit and the wind which all would seal up the final classification of the Okalys-Corum team. At the end of the 09 season's seven races, the three winning teams which would pit their strength for the first step of the podium were already known with Alinghi at the head (8points), followed by Okalys-Corum (10points) and finally Foncia (13points). Only two points divided our team from the defender of the title. The victory was announced as very difficult and challenged. Even if Okalys-Corum won the Grand-Prix Beau-Rivage Palace, Alinghi SUI-I needed to realise a bad score and loose their advance of two points they had on the general classification. A week-end full of suspense spellbound the spectators on the docks of Ouchy.
At the end of the Grand Prix Beau-Rivage, one of the most challenged race, Chief Executive Officer of CORUM, Antonio Calce said:
A huge pride. If we look at the two winning teams of the Challenge Julius Baer, we can see that the team Okalys-Corum is composed mostly of semi-professionnals but passionate sailors who challenge exclusive professional navigators composing the largely well-known Alinghi team. At the end of the Challenge Julius Baer, Okalys-Corum and Alinghi count the same number of points, the same number of victories. To decide who is the winner between both teams, the number of second places during the season is decisive. We miss the victory by hair's-breadth. Even if my impressions remain very positive, because I consider the team Okalys-Corum won its victory, I feel a slight frustration for this first place they largely would have deserved. This is the sport's act. A true link exists between Corum and the team Okalys-Corum. Their performances are not only due to a professional competence but also thanks to their veritable passion and team spirit. This passion and this spirit have permitted to Corum and to the Okalys-Corum team to hoists themselves at the top.
This project has been federative from the beginning for all employees of the brand. A true symbiosis could be established with the Okalys-Corum team thanks to our common values. I would like to thank once more my team which has been present at each event of the Challenge and the sailors of Okalys-Corum which have competed alongside during this season. We are looking forward to the next season, of course this wonderful adventure continues.
Nicolas Grange, owner and skipper of Decision D35 Okalys-Corum reveals his impressions after the last race of the season:
It was a very good season for the Okalys-Corum team. We had the chance to sail with Loïck Peyron who supported our team of passionate sailing amateurs. The coaching, the trainings and the means were different than for a professional team like Alinghi. We also had to manage many changes during the season due to professional obligations. Considering these elements, we are really proud of our performances and moreover we are proud to count the same number of points (12) than the coming winner of the America's Cup. The most important thing to us, is to have pleasure by sailing! In perfect harmony with the CORUM credo : « Where there is passion, great achievements are within reach », this victory proves that only projects which are supported by b human values can succeed. In a difficult economical context, quality of human relationships are the key of success for the society. The sporty partnerships developed by Corum breathe a new energy and strength in the brand's sails, and allow to each employee to identify themselves to the victories and accomplishments of the athletes.
Review of the of racing week-end in Lausanne (results of the races taken from the Grand Chelem releases)
The Beau-Rivage Palace Grand-Prix was the last regatta of the Julius Baer Challenge and "justice of the peace" as the winner was still to be defined. Driving the suspense to its paroxysm, the wind finally did not rise on Friday and no race could be started. After three races on Saturday, Alain Gautier on Foncia finished the season successfully, he wins two of the three races and even frightens his direct challenger, Nicolas Grange's orange D35. Okalys-Corum finishes at the second place. Guy de Picciotto's Zen Too takes the third place of the podium and Alinghi SUI 1 finishes at the fourth place.
This week-end was also decisive for the final classification of the Challenge Julius Baer. The winning trio has shown its performances during the season and had a large advantage over the other teams. At this Grand Prix Beau-Rivage, the challenge between the first two teams, Alinghi and Okalys-Corum was fierce. Foncia, at third place, had nothing to loose and could allow more risky manoeuvres.
At the top of its performances, Alinghi SUI 1 finally wins the Challenge Julius Baer for the third time. With the same score, Okalys-Corum takes the second place on the podium. Foncia, winner of two Grand Prix and the Bol d'Or Mirabaud, finishes at the third place.

Summary of the history of this partnership
Confirming its attachment to the world of sailing, CORUM continues its history and reinforces its presence in the arena of nautical sponsoring. Marking a nautical double, the CORUM watchmaking brand, joined forces with the prestigious and winning OKALYS-CORUM team and lent its name to the Geneva Grand Prix (Grand Prix CORUM); a history which above all tells of the meeting of passionate people.
Building a long-term partnership, the watchmaking brand has signed a contract for three years and plans to make great strides in the discipline. To commemorate this new challenge, CORUM has created a custom trophy for the Grand Prix Corum event. Antonio Calce, CORUM CEO presented it to Ernesto Bertarelli's team, which was the first winner of the CORUM Grand Prix trophy in May 2009. The names of all winners will be engraved on it, in the order of their victories. As official partner of the Grand Prix, CORUM hoist its main sail on its watchmaking knowhow by proposing marine chronographs. Official model of the Grand Prix Corum and official watch of the Okalys-Corum team, the Admiral's Cup Black Hull 48 watch made of titanium is the brand's iconic model famous for its dodecagonal bezel and a dial decorated with nautical pennants. This model houses Caliber CO753, an automatic-winding mechanical chronograph movement chronometercertified by the COSC, the ultimate sign of reliability and accuracy.
The legendary Admiral's Cup lives on in this sports chronograph, built for extremes, perpetrates the legend of Admiral's Cup. Embodying the brand's athletic side, the Admiral's Cup Black Hull 48 mm is perfectly in line with technicity and performance of the Okalys-Corum Decision 35, 35-foot (10.81 meter) catamaran made entirely of composite materials.
