I gave this Chopard L.U.C Tourbillon QF Fairmined (161929-5006) watch to my teen for Valentine's Day. She gushed over it but by day three the back had fallen off. It was simple to screw back on but took us by surprise. For the money, it's a nice little gift for a young person.

The Chopard watch was listed at a good price, but it looked very cheap once I received it. I am not wearing it, nor would I give it to anyone.

The appearance is sort of like a rolex. It has class. It is a great buy if you are looking for a watch just to go out on the town and you are not trying to impress anyone. It is just a nice look for that reason.

Since 1988, Chopard has been the partner and official timekeeper of the prestigious Mille Miglia, which sees this year 430 classic cars compete over four days along a route stretching one thousand miles and winding through the most stunning Italian scenery between Brescia and Rome.
Born of the personal passion for classic racing cars nurtured by Chopard's Co-President, Karl-Friedrich Scheufeule - alos an active driver who takes part in the race personally each year - this link between Chopard and classic racing gave birth to the Mille Miglia watche collection. Each year, a limited series dedicated to the race is specially created.

Issued in limited series of 1,000 in steel and 100 in rose gold respectively, the Mille Miglia 2015 Race Edition picks up the design codes of the classic cars that took part in the Italian race between 1940 and 1957. On the varnished dial, the emblematic "Rosso Corsa" red colour reigns supreme. This watch face, with its black and white touches, recalls the new Mille Miglia GTS watches presented by Chopard at Baselworld 2015. The power-reserve indicator is reminiscent of typical 1950s petrol gauges, while the oversized 6 and 12 o'clock Arabic numerals echo the dashboards of vintage cars. In a nod to the participant numbers placed on the doors and bonnet of the competing vehicles, the date window appears clearly on a white background in the Mille Miglia red arrow-shaped logo.

The Mille Miglia 2015 Race Edition comes in a sturdy 43 mm-diameter case in 18-carat rose gold or steel, topped by a bezel with a black aluminium graduated insert.  
The black Barenia leather calfskin strap is secured by an 18-carat rose gold or steel folding clasp.

The screw-down back guaranteeing water resistance to 100 metres is engraved with the inscriptions "Mille Miglia" and "Brescia > Rome > Brescia" and fitted with a transparent sapphire crystal pane revealing the Chopard movement and its openworked oscillating weight.
This movement is the mechanical self-winding Chopard Calibre 01.08-C, entirely developed, designed and assembled in the Chopard's Fleurier Ebauches workshops. COSC-certified, it ensures extreme precision in driving the hours, minutes and seconds indications, as well as a date appearing at 3 o'clock and a power-reserve display at 9 o'clock and is endowed with an approximately 60-hour power reserve.

The Happy Fish collection welcomes a splendid model. Offering a delightfully harmonious vision in turquoise and gold, the graceful movements and flowing curves of a majestic fish that is visible by night come to life through delicate engraving on the shimmering mother-of-pearl. The delightfully rounded shapes adorned with gold leaf create a softly glistening and luminous effect enhanced by graded shades of snow-set blue sapphires.

Dancing across these waves are seven luminescent moving diamonds, while the red jasper eye of the fish stands out like an exclamation mark against the turquoise backdrop. The extreme delicacy of this jewellery craftsmanship continues on the bezel which is set with diamonds of three different alternating sizes for a softer effect, while the 18-carat rose gold case fitted with a white shimmering alligator strap shelters a mechanical self-winding movement.

The Happy Fish watch is a limited edition of 25 pieces and is exclusive to Chopard boutiques and corners.

The early 20th century witnessed the appearance of motor races with various countries competing against each other in cars sporting their national livery. Red was first attributed to an Italian car manufacturer before it became the colour of a whole country: Italy. It is to this nation that the new Mille Miglia GT XL Chrono Rosso Corsa pays vibrant homage. Chronometer-certified by the COSC, this sleekly sophisticated chronograph is bound to delight devotees of Italian speed machines…
Bright red is the vivid shade adorning the dial of the new Mille Miglia model from Chopard, named GT XL Chrono Rosso Corsa in reference to the "racing colours" sported by cars taking part in motor races until the late 1960s. This year the spotlight is on Italy and its famous "Rosso Corsa" before other Mille Miglia "Racing Colours" will later take this colour to the road. This extremely sporting and sophisticated watch is inspired by the legendary Mille Miglia car rally, with its Brescia-Rome-Brescia route that annually attracts the cream of classic racing cars, and which has been partnered by Chopard since 1988. The origin of "racing colours" dates back to the Gordon Bennett Cup, the famous car race that involved competing national teams from 1900 onwards. This sparked the emergence of "Vintage Blue" for France and "Rosso Corsa" for Italy, followed by "British Racing Green", "Speed Yellow" for Belgium and "Silver Racing" for Germany.
The new Mille Miglia GT Chrono Rosso Corsa features a generous 44 mm-diameter polished titanium case. Its red-varnished dial with silver-toned snailed hollowed counters echoes the colour of the stitching on the black leather strap, as well as the minute numerals transferred on the inner bezel ring. Its oversized 6 and 12 o'clock numerals transferred beneath the sapphire crystal lend an exclusive touch. Its aerodynamic titanium pushers, along with the tachometric scale engraved on the bezel, further reinforce its sporting nature. The perfect legibility of the information provided is highlighted by a sapphire crystal that is glareproofed on both sides, while the case-back is engraved with the legendary route of the Mille Miglia rally.
On terms of the mechanism, the self-winding movement chronometer-certified by the COSC beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, meaning 4 Hertz. It is visible through the transparent case-back and has a 46-hour power reserve. It drives the hours, minutes, small seconds at 9 o'clock, a date window with integrated magnifying lens at 3 o'clock, as well as a chronograph with sweep-second hand, a 30-minute counter at 12 o'clock and a 12-hour counter at 6 o'clock - the latter appearing on split levels. Its case equipped with a screw-locked crown is water-resistant to 100 metres. The Mille Miglia GT XL Chrono Rosso Corsa is produced in a limited series of just 1,000 watches, thereby underscoring its exclusive character.
