Bell & Ross and Dassault Aviation share the same passion for aviation, which guides them in their respective creations. In 2013, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Falcon business jet, Bell & Ross paid homage to the civil aviation of the 1960s by presenting the Vintage Falcon model.
This year, the two companies are joining forces once again to celebrate the most successful multi-role fighter aircraft on the market: the Rafale.

Engineers, master watchmakers, designers and professional pilots have combined their skills to give rise to an original concept: the instrument watch. As aeronautical instruments are the absolute benchmark in terms of legibility, reliability and performance, the BR 03 adopts the same fundamental design principles as a cockpit clock and expresses the Bell & Ross philosophy, whereby function must define form.

Similar to the Rafale, which was produced with innovative, highperformance materials, the case of the BR 03-94 Rafale watch was designed using ceramic, a material holding a privileged position in the aerospace sector.
To create the ceramic BR 03-94, the Bell & Ross designers had to rethink the already complex structure of its case. Therefore, the BR 03-94 is built around its movement - the mechanical chronograph movement with automatic winding Calibre BR-CAL 301 - and its steel container, protected by a cover, top and back made of ceramic. The eight screws, which are visible from the outside of the ceramic case, are functional and fasten the entire watch like a clamp, ensuring that the case is perfectly solid and water resistant

The stealthy matte black ceramic case is a reference to the anti-reflective tints of instrument panels in aeroplane cockpits. Rafale's characteristic colour adorns the dial: a monochrome camouflage grey. The typography of the numerals recalls that of the registration numbers that feature on the plane's fuselage. The hands used for the chronograph functions have orange tips (in aviation, this is the colour of essential features and test flights), and offer excellent legibility. On the flange, the tachymeter scale enables speeds to be calculated. The auxiliary counter of the small seconds displays the distinctive silhouette of the Rafale as a signature at 6 o'clock.

The BR 03-94 Rafale watch is equipped with a black natural rubber strap.
With a limited edition of just 500 pieces, the BR 03-94 Rafale will be presented in Le Bourget, at the International Paris Air Show, which will take place in France from 15 to 21 June 2015.

Bell & Ross has always had a keen interest for military history, in particular aviation history, which turned timekeeping into one of the keys to navigation. This year the brand commemorates the second world war with the launch of a watch that pays tribute to the air crews who fought during the war. Each watch features on its dial one of the roundels seen on the fuselage of military aeroplanes at the time.

This year marks a double commemoration, since it is the 70th anniversary of the end of the second world war and the 50th anniversary of the death of Churchill. The exhibition Churchill - De Gaulle is a tribute to two major figures of the second world war but also an opportunity to see some less well-known public and private facets of these two exceptional gentlemen. Exhibits and speeches presented for the first time show the development of the relationship between the these two great men who had a shared destiny. They were both military men and politicians, but also writers, speakers and, in the case of Churchill, even journalist and painter.

Bell & Ross is a partner of this exhibition dedicated to two great men who marked the 20th century.

Bell & Ross and Aeronautical Instrumentation

The iconic BR 01 Aviation collection is directly inspired by the instrumentation of aircraft cockpits, and addresses four fundamental requirements: legibility, functionality, precision and water-resistance.
Pushing its exploration of aeronautical navigation instruments further, Bell & Ross innovates year after year with completely new high-tech models —BR 01 Compass in 2010, and Radar in 2011—, offering a completely new way of reading time, inspired by flight instrumentation.

A new trio and a revised instrumentation panel
In 2013, Bell & Ross is enhancing the Aviation collection with three new instruments directly inspired by the cockpit, - Heading indicator , Airspeed and Climb - and essential to flying and navigation.

• The gyrocompass, course indicator or heading indicator, is a vital instrument for flying, used during both manual flight and autopilot, which indicates the course the plane is on.

• The anemometer, or airspeed indicator, indicates speed. It measures an aircraft's speed in relation to the air through which it is moving and allows the plane to be flown in a controlled way without visibility.

• The variometer or vertical speed indicator, indicates to the pilot at all times whether the plane is ascending, descending or in level flight. This instrument works using atmospheric pressure and is graduated in hundreds of feet per minute.

With this new trio, Bell & Ross recreates the graphic style of navigation instruments as closely as possible, once again going beyond the traditional approach to reading the time.

These three new models —BR01 Heading indicator , BR 01 Airspeed and BR01 Climb— are each available in limited editions of 999 pieces.

The first 99 will be offered exclusively in a lavish collector's box containing the six instruments: BR 01 Horizon, Altimeter, Turn coordinator, Heading indicator , Airspeed and Climb. The box is designed as a control panel where the essential instruments are laid out in T shape for optimum legibility. An exclusive box that will make its owner feel as though they own a fragment of an aircraft's cockpit, delighting both aviation fans and watch collectors..
