  • Longines - Future Tennis Aces

    The draw ceremony for the 6th edition of the Longines Future Tennis Aces 2015 was held on the 28th of May under the attendance of Arnaud Clement, patron for the 2015 edition. The event, hosted by journalist and former French tennis player Sarah Pitkowski, along with Vice-President and Longines International Marketing Director Juan-Carlos Capelli, provided the opportunity to officially introduce the public to the tournament program, organised by Longines since 2010.
    This year, 16 young boys under the age of 13 and from 16 different countries will have the opportunity to compete on a court installed at the foot of the Eiffel Tower under conditions identical to those of the Roland-Garros tournament, for which Longines has been the Official Partner and Timekeeper since 2007.

    Prior to the tournament, held between May 28 and 30, Longines invited the 16 players to a training camp at the Châtaigneraie Tennis Club - the "Longines Academy" - where they received valuable advice from Remi Barbarin and Julien Boutter, two specialists in the field.

    After spending the entire week alongside event sponsor Arnaud Clement, these young champions will enjoy a unique experience, while two finalists will get to take part in an exhibition match in his and Michael Llodra's company. At the end of the tournament, the winner will receive a cup straight from the hands of FFT President Jean Gachassin, along with a watch from Longines. In addition, the two finalists will receive an annual bursary to finance their equipment until their 16th birthday.

  • Longines - Longines Avigation

    The 44 mm circular steel case of the Longines Avigation - a contraction of "aviation" and "navigation" - referring to a navigation system invented during the 1920s - has the same diameter as the original one. It houses an L704 self-winding, mechanical calibre which shows the hours, minutes, seconds and date, and has a second time-scale. As in the 1949 model, the movement is encased in a soft iron plate and dome which protect it from the effects of magnetic fields.

    The black dial features large white numerals as well as a 24-hour scale in red. The stick hands on the main dial are rhodium-plated and the lozenge-shaped hand on the second time-scale is red. All the hands are coated with Super-LumiNova®. The upper segment of the dial bears a distinctive sign, namely a broad arrow, used in the United Kingdom to denote government property, including military equipment and therefore the watches used by the British army.

  • Longines - The Prix de Diane Longines, with Kate Winslet

    As the Title Partner, Official Timekeeper and Official Watch, Longines presented the programme of the event and revealed the name of the Longines Ambassador of Elegance who will be lighting up the Prix de Diane Longines with her presence, namely Kate Winslet.

    In all, nine races - including the famous Prix de Diane Longines, the world's top race for fillies - will be held during the afternoon of 15 June, in the unique atmosphere of the Chantilly Racecourse.

    Longines' involvement in equestrian sport dates back to 1878, when the brand created a chronograph engraved with a jockey and his horse. For the Prix de Diane Longines 2014, the brand will be promoting a ladies' watch in steel from its Conquest Classic collection. Set with 30 diamonds, this timepiece with its white mother-of-pearl dial and diamond hour symbols is a perfect example of the elegance of this unique race meeting.

    This year, the event will be enhanced by Longines' Ambassador of Elegance Kate Winslet. As the embodiment of refinement, the talented British actress will be presenting the "Mademoiselle Diane par Longines" award for elegance during the afternoon to a young lady chosen for her outstanding elegance. Moreover, Julien Dore, will be giving an exclusive concert.


    Longines will also be involved in the Prix de La Reine Marie-Amelie Longines, a race for amateur riders of the International Federation of Gentlemen and Lady Riders (FEGENTRI), of which Longines is the Official Partner and Official Watch.

    During the 2014 edition, the Swiss watch brand will renew its support to talented young jockeys through the Prix Longines Future Racing Stars, a race in which young jockeys from all four corners of the globe compete against each other. In a similar vein, Longines organizes on Saturday 14 the Longines Ladies Awards which will be presented during a gala evening held in the Grandes Ecuries of the Chantilly Chateau.
     

  • Longines - La Grande Classique 100 Diamonds

    The 29 mm round case is set with 100 Top Wesselton VVS diamonds. On the model with the white mother-of-pearl dial, the baton shape hands are black. The dial is also adorned with 12 diamond indices.
     

    The Grande Classique 100 Diamonds features an ultra-slim case - only 4.60 mm. This profile has been achieved through the particular design of the case, which incidentally Longines has patented, whereby the back incorporates the lugs for the bracelet.

The previous year Andre Agassi joined the family of Longines' ambassadors. The first spot showed the tennis star and the children supported by Agassi's charity, the Andre Agassi Foundation.     One year later, tennis legend Stefanie Graf also became a Longines Ambassador of Elegance. Under the dazzling Las Vegas sun a second film adventure began. Mandy Walker captures the magic of the couple's visit to the Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy.

The youngest pupils are having a drawing lesson. After a good deal of laughter, the children concentrate on their masterpieces. Agassi looks at their work closely. The budding artists don't seem to be particularly intimidated by their famous visitor nor by the presence of the film crew.

    For most of them, it is actually their second experience of filming because they were also featured in the first film made in 2007. What is more, the children are not acting because most of the little stars are students at the school that bears Andre Agassi's name. Mandy Walker zooms in on the tiny faces. A little girl looks at her quite openly and says "I learn effort." A young boy says "I learn respect."

    The scene changes: a lawn basking in the sun, an ancient tree. The radiant Stefanie Graf is sitting with a group of children who are also drawing. Ms. Graf smiles and casts a caringeye over the group. The children speak to the camera again: "I learn to be myself," says one. A boy sitting next to Stefanie says "I learn to conquer my way." Stefanie looks at his drawing and realises that he is drawing her! A portrait of Andre then appears alongside hers.

    The film ends with a close-up of the couple, who announce in unison "It's time to give a bit of your time to others" as an echo the Longines slogan appears on the screen and offers the final word: "Elegance is an attitude". The film offers a few moments of intimacy, generosity, humanity and sharing between the Swiss watch manufacturer and its two ambassadors.
