Longines' passion for equestrian sports dates back to more than a century. In 1878, the Swiss watch brand produced a chronograph engraved with a jockey and his mount. The Longines Equestrian Pocket Watch Horses Trio 1911 was inspired by a metal pocket watch kept in the Longines museum and produced in 1911.

This 18-carat rose gold pocket watch has a cleverly crafted background depicting a trio of horses. The heads of these three proud animals stand out against a background of delicately worked foliage. The plant motifs are repeated in the middle of the piece. This unusual model is produced in a very limited edition. Each copy is numbered.

With a diameter of 48.20 mm, this model features the L878.4 calibre with manual winding. This movement is developed exclusively for Longines. Its white dial is decorated with large black painted Arabic numerals and a minute circle. It displays the hours and minutes with elegant "Breguet"-type blued steel hands and there is a small seconds at 6 o'clock. The sides and the bow on this watch are finely crafted in imitation of the original model.

On Saturday 11 April 2015, Craig Williams riding Criterion won the Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes, the richest weight for age race over 2000m on turf in the world. The Swiss watch brand Longines is the Title Partner of the Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes, as well as the Official Timekeeper and Watch of the racecourse of Royal Randwick, and the Official Timekeeper and Watch of the Australian Turf Club. The winning owner, trainer and jockey were presented with elegant Longines watches from the hands of Mr. Juan-Carlos Capelli, Vice President of Longines and Head of International Marketing, and Chi Ling Lin, Longines Ambassador of Elegance.
This event was the occasion to discover Conquest Classic, a collection of Longines timepieces dedicated to horse lovers.

This weekend was also marked by a world premiere. Indeed, during a press conference held in the Longines Owners Pavilion at Royal Randwick Racecourse on Friday 10 April 2015, the Swiss watch brand presented the Longines Positioning System (LPS), a game-changing development for timekeeping and tracking technology in thoroughbred racing. Used for the first time during the Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes Raceday, it inaugurates totally new data-handling dimensions and deepens the understanding of the races.

Longines, a timekeeper for sporting performances since 1878, is launching a new line of chronographs specially developed for sports that require an extremely high level of precision. The Conquest 1/100th series responds to the needs of athletes, professionals and sports fans besides many others, since it measures time at multiple intermediaries and has an intuitive analogue display that shows the time to one hundredth of a second using a separate hand. All of this is possible thanks to the latest generation of quartz movements developed exclusively for Longines by ETA.

The Conquest 1/100th Alpine Skiing is the black dial watch in the Conquest 1/100th series. This chronograph is specially designed for professionals and alpine ski enthusiasts who are looking for a watch capable of measuring intermediate times from the starting gate to the finish line, gate by gate, to the hundredth of a second.

The demands required for Longines to reach such an extreme level of precision have also led to the development of the new unique quartz movement, the L440. It includes a microcontroller with a flash memory that allows the watch to be reset instantly and split times to be recorded. With a diameter of 41mm, this bright steel model has a black dial that displays the hour, minutes, small seconds at 6 o'clock, the date and chronographic functions: a central seconds hand, a 30 minutes counter at 2 o'clock and a 12 hours counter at 10 o'clock. The hand in red displays time to one hundredth of a second and is the watch's crowning glory at the centre. The model is also fitted with a steel strap and a triple safety folding clasp.

Last Friday saw the launch of the 2014/2015 Alpine skiing season, which for Longines will be characterised by youth. The brand offers its support to the best up-and-coming Alpine skiers through the Longines Future Ski Champions race, which will take place
in Val d'Isere in December. This year the focus will be on the female skiers for this unique competition. Each will be hoping to be crowned champion for 2014 and to take home a Longines watch as well as a trophy.

With the same purpose in mind, Longines will also be organising, for the third year running, the Longines Rising Ski Stars prize, awarded to the best female skier under the age of 21 and the best male skier under the age of 23 who compete for the FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup. At the end of the 2014/2015 season, the two winners will each receive a Longines watch, a trophy and a cheque for CHF 20,000.

The launch of the new Alpine skiing season was also an opportunity for Longines to unveil the name of its new Ambassador of Elegance, American alpine skier Mikaela Shiffrin, two-time winner of the « Longines Rising Ski Stars » prize. The talented athlete was also World Champion in 2013 and won two crystal globes in slalom.

Finally, the Swiss watch brand announced the renewal of its long-term partnership with the FIS, for which it has been the Partner and Official Timekeeper since 2006.

The Official Watch of the season will be a one hundredth of a second chronograph, the Conquest 1/100th Alpine Skiing.

52 years after its first association with the Games in Perth, Australia, Longines renews its support to this multi-sport event, taking place from 23 July to 3 August in Glasgow. Involving 71 teams of athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations and Territories, this will be the largest competition ever held in Scotland.

Longines will provide the On Venue Results (OVR) service that includes the handling, the processing and the broadcasting of the official times and scores of the different sport events.

Timekeeping itself is only a modest part in the global picture and Longines will rely on its long-lasting experience in complete data handling for Glasgow 2014. Any score, distance, name, team, ranking and time requires technology to instantly process and distribute it as TV graphics for television networks. Scoreboards and displays will be spread around the different sporting venues, and the Commentator's Information System (CIS) will make available to rights holding broadcasters comprehensive information about the competitions, statistics and results.

The Official Watch of Glasgow 2014 will be a chronograph in steel from the Conquest Classic collection, housing an exclusive mechanical column-wheel calibre. With a diameter of 41 mm, its black dial is set with one arabic numeral and 11 applied indices with Super-LumiNova®. It displays the hours and the minutes, a small second at 9, a 30-minute counter at 3, a 12-hour counter at 6 as well as the date at 4:30. Just as the entire Conquest Classic collection, this timepiece is water-resistant to 5 bar and its screw-down case back is fitted with a sapphire glass.

Kent Farrington from the USA won the prestigious Longines King George V Gold Cup on his debut at The Longines Royal International Horse show. He withstood tough competition from runner-up and three-time Gold Cup winner Robert Smith (GBR) on Talan and Leon Thijssen (NED) on Tyson who came in third.

Points won during the Longines Royal International Horse Show count towards the total score for the 2011 Longines Press Award for Elegance. The winner is announced at the final international show-jumping competition of the season in Rotterdam on 28th August 2011. The top scorers at Hickstead were:
