  • Panerai - Luminor Base Logo

Launched in September 2000, www.paneristi.com is managed voluntarily and independently from the Panerai brand. Each day it attracts thousands of users from all over the world. The Paneristi are spread throughout all the countries of the world but North America is the region most bly represented, followed by Europe and Asia, in particular Singapore and Hong Kong. The Paneristi periodically arrange to get together for reunions and share comments, ideas and experiences.

Over the years, Officine Panerai has created several special models as a tribute to the loyalty and passion of the Paneristi. The Luminor Base Logo created in 2010 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the website's founding was developed taking into account the preferences expressed by the Paneristi.

The new Luminor Base Logo is distinguished by the minimalism of its lines and its design is consistent with the details of vintage Panerai watches. The Luminor case in polished AISI 316L stainless steel, 44mm in diameter, expresses solidity and strength, and it has the characteristic bridge device with locking lever to protect the winding crown, helping to ensure water-resistance to 100 metres. The added inscription of "Paneristi" is engraved on the locking lever and the inscription PANERISTI.COM 15TH ANNIVERSARY is engraved on the back of the timepiece.

The black dial has the classic baton hour markers with figures at the cardinal points, and the OP logo which gives its name to the model is printed in blue at 6 o'clock. The legendary nocturnal visibility typical of every Panerai model is ensured by a special coating of Super-LumiNova® ecru, a shade of vintage inspiration which is co-ordinated with the sewing of the strap.

The new Luminor Base Logo (PAM00634) uses the OP I hand-wound mechanical calibre with a power reserve of 56 hours, and it is supplied with a black leather strap with contrasting sewing, easily replaceable thanks to the special system of screwed bars, patented by Officine Panerai.
Only 500 units of the Luminor Base Logo will be produced.

  • Panerai - Radiomir Firenze 3 Days Acciaio - 47mm

The Radiomir Firenze is entirely hand-engraved by Italian master craftsmen, making each timepiece unique. Its design is inspired by motifs existing in the Florentine iconography. Similar to the inlays adorning the marble facades of the Florentine's churches, the engravings enhance the elegant structure of the case, enfolding the case-band and the crown. Shaped by the master craftsmen, the lines appear to form geometric figures creating a harmonious piece. Some symbolic details stand out, such as the Florentine lily, emblem of Firenze.

The engraving is entirely done by hand, and each case takes one craftsman more than a week to finish. The geometric and floral motifs are first drawn as a temporary outline - using powdered chalk or magnesium powder - and then engraved with a burin. The engraved surfaces are formed of very thin parallel lines, giving depth to the design and accentuating the contrasts between light and dark.

The new Radiomir Firenze houses a hand-wound mechanical, P.3000 calibre, executed entirely by Panerai and visible through the sapphire case-back. Two mainspring barrels, connected in series, provide 3 days of power and the balance wheel oscillates at a rate of 21,600 vibrations per hour. The P.3000 movement is equipped with a system that allows the adjustment of the hour, through the decorated crown, without interfering with the running minutes or the timekeeping of the movement. Consistent with its origins as a watch originally designed for military use underwater, the new Radiomir Firenze (PAM00604) is water-resistant to 100 metres. It is supplied with a black alligator strap.

The Panerai Radiomir Firenze is limited to 99 pieces and is only sold at the Florence boutique in Italy.

  • Panerai - Luminor Submersible 1950 Carbotech™ 3 Days Automatic - 47 mm

As well as providing exceptional technical performance, carbotech has an uneven, matt black appearance, which varies according the cutting of the material: the result is that each watch is truly unique.

The structure of carbotech is designed to enhance both the aesthetics and the performance of the material, which is used to make the case, the rotating bezel and the lever bridge which protects the winding crown.

Every detail of the design of the watch draws its inspiration from the history of the brand. The Luminor 1950 case, developed by Panerai in the late 1940s for the Italian Navy, is enhanced by a rotating bezel with markers consisting of small studs, inspired by the model created for the Egyptian Navy in 1956.

The dial of the new Luminor Submersible 1950 Carbotech™ is black with applied hour markers, the date window is at three o'clock and the small seconds counter adorned with Panerai blue details is at nine o'clock. The screw-in caseback is made of titanium with black treatment. The P.9000 automatic calibre beats at the heart of the watch. It is water-resistant to 300 metres.

The new Luminor Submersible 1950 CarbotechTM is fitted with a black rubber strap, personalised for the first time by the OP logo in Panerai blue, and it is supplied with a spare strap and a screwdriver.

  • Panerai - Special Edition set Luminor Black Seal and Luminor Daylight

Between 1993, year of the first watch collection not exclusively made for military use, and 1997, year of Richemont's buyout, Panerai only produced a few hundred watches.

The set Panerai is presenting today is inspired by this period. Indeed, the Special Edition set (PAM000785) consists of of two models inspired by two of the most representative watches of the pre-Vendôme era. These two timepiece were ordered in 1996 by the American actor Sylvester Stallone, who was at the time involved in the film Daylight: the Luminor Black Seal and the Luminor Daylight. These two watches, produced
in limited editions of 500 units each, are now offered exclusively as part of the set. The box made of pear wood, also includes a model of a human torpedo as well as a publication on the military equipment of the Royal Italian Navy special forces.

The design of the new Luminors is faithully inspired by the 1996 original model. Both cases are made of stainless steel and measure 44 mm. Beating at a ryhthm of 21,600 alternations per hour, the two timepieces are equipped with a hand-wound P.5000 calibre executed entirely by the Panerai manufacture in Neuchâtel. While the Luminor Black Seal has a black dial with numerals at 3, 6 and 12 o'clock, the Luminor Daylight has a white dial featuring a numeric hour markers and a detailed minute track. Both watches have the small seconds dial at 9 o'clock. The brown leather strap is also inspired by the pre-Vendôme period. The Special Edition set includes two spare straps identical to the original and a screwdriver.

  • Panerai - New manufacture in Neuchâtel

    • A new integrated manufacture with almost all the metiers of the art of watchmaking
    • 130 new jobs
    • Expanded Research and Development activities: the Workshop of Ideas
    • Zero carbon dioxide emissions

The new production facility will be opened at the end of 2013 and it will be at Pierre-a-Bot, on the heights above Neuchâtel. Its birth will complete the progress which in just a few years has established the Florentine brand all over the world as one of the most important productive expressions of haute horlogerie sports watches.

At the moment, the stages of development, manufacturing the various components, assembly and quality control are all carried out by Officine Panerai internally but they take place in different production sites. The unification of the various stages in a single location which is also significantly larger will bring several benefits to the production, to the benefit all admirers of Panerai watches: higher capacity, greater independence in all stages of production and better quality control.

The new Panerai manufacture will have an area of 10,000 square metres in which there will be 290 employees, 130 more than the 160 who are currently employed at the building in the centre of Neuchâtel, where the brand is located at the moment. In addition to the production lines, equipped with the very latest technologies, there will be space in the new manufacture for all the trades related to the prototyping, production, assembly and rigorous quality control of the components, movements and cases of Panerai watches, trades that are carried out by master watchmakers and their highly skilled colleagues.

Inside the new building there will be a large space for the Workshop of Ideas, the area where all the research and development activities which for years have been behind the innovative drive of the brand will be consolidated. Materials research, the study and design of new movements together with the continuous refinement of the quality and creativity expressed by its products are fundamental requirements of a brand which finds in its history and its military origins the need to surpass its own standards so as to meet the requirements of its demanding customers.

As has always been the case, the activities of the manufacture at Neuchâtel will carry out the completion and execution of the creative ideas of the Panerai designers who contribute to preserving one of the most distinctive elements of the brand: the combination of Italian history, design and passion with Swiss precision, craftsmanship and technical watchmaking knowledge which makes Panerai watches unique and immediately recognizable all over the world.

In the words of Angelo Bonati, CEO of Officine Panerai, "In 1997 a great adventure was begun which has been creating the foundations for the future development of the Panerai brand and for its perpetuity".

The new Officine Panerai manufacture will have zero environmental impact in terms of carbon dioxide through careful integration of technologies for the recovery and recycling of resources, devices for reducing emissions and eco-sustainable mobility policies for employees.

  • Panerai - New advertising campaign

Officine Panerai presents a new official advertising campaign that sees the Panerai watch, now more than ever before, as the absolute star of the advert: an iconic luxury sports watch capable of relating its own unique design, its history, its technical content and authenticity.

The new campaign, conceived by the Hi! Comunicazione agency in Milan and featuring photos by Raffaello Benedetti Bra, sees Panerai watches play the leading role in what is a forceful advertising message in its understated, elegant simplicity, a message expressed through different themes and subjects, offering a comprehensive view of the brand's fundamental values. The mood and tone of the ad are epic, highly memorable and together convey a classic-ness that transcends time and space, reinforced by short, sharp words.
In its launching phase, the campaign has two themes. The first is the history of Officine Panerai, its links with Florence of the second half of the nineteenth century - where the brand originated - and its role as supplier to the Italian Navy. The history of Panerai emerges in the campaign in a mythical dimension, like the military operations of the Navy raiding units which, in the '30s and '40s, carried out legendary feats wearing Panerai watches on their wrists. The sea provides the main setting, with all the visual elements expressing a message of strength, soundness and heroism.

The other theme is the perfect fusion between design and technology embodied by Panerai watches. The element of design emerges thanks to emblematic images of Panerai watches, whose iconic simplicity, harmony and refined details can be appreciated all at once. The sophisticated mechanisms of the movements made by Officine Panerai in its factory in Neuchâtel appear in the background, as if to conjure up the watches' inner soul, extraordinarily important yet hidden from view.
Both themes are interpreted with different creative ideas, subject to and expressed through an array of different watch models. The same themes will be further developed over time, so as to gradually explore the advertising strengths of the brand, particularly its Florentine origins, its associations with science and with the world of classic yachting. The overall campaign is modular and easily adapted to the many needs of what is a niche brand in its exclusivity, yet firmly established on all leading International markets.

The numerous campaign claims, to remain in English the world over ("Strength and Honour", "Design and Uniqueness", "Art and Science", "History and Heroes", etc…) are modular and can be adapted to preselected themes and subjects, playing on associations with concepts and values, underlining that the Panerai brand identity is the perfect combination of opposite, complementary or contiguous elements: Italian style and Swiss technology, tradition and innovation, simplicity and exclusivity.
The new advertising campaign has been created for the press (magazines and newspapers) and comes in quarter page, single page or - a new departure for the brand - double page ads. A digital media version is planned for a later stage.

  • Panerai - Luminor 1950 composite 3 days - 47 mm

Officine Panerai presents a new Special Edition in Panerai Composite, the synthetic composite used in haute horlogerie for the first time by Officine Panerai and produced by an electro-chemical process of transforming aluminium. The new Luminor Composite 1950 3 Days - 47mm combines the characteristics and performance of this material, exceptional for its lightness, strength and durability, with the new hand-wound P.3000 calibre, entirely designed and produced in the Officine Panerai manufacture in Neuchâtel.
The Luminor 1950 case in Panerai Composite is 47 mm in diameter, a classic size for Panerai watches, and it has a matt brown appearance of great evenness. Made of the same material are the bridge protecting the winding crown with the classic clamping lever and the round bezel which surrounds the sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment. Water-resistant to 100 metres, the case has the polished crystal back which enables the movement to be seen. The sandwich dial too is dark brown and stripped to essentials with the characteristic small seconds dial at 9 o'clock. The dial is of sandwich construction, being formed of two thin metal discs, the upper one of which is perforated to allow the luminous substance placed between them (Super-LumiNova®) to be seen. The hands are also covered with the same luminous substance, in a special ecru colour so as to reproduce the vintage appearance of the dials of the period.
The movement used in the Luminor Composite 1950 3 Days - 47mmis the manufacture P.3000 calibre. With a diameter of 16½ lignes and hand-wound, the movement has a structure with large bridges, comparable to plates, while from the technical point of view it has two spring barrels, ensuring a power reserve of 72 hours (three days), and a large-diameter balance wheel with adjusting screws.Identified by the reference PAM00375, the new Luminor Composite 1950 3 Days - 47mm is produced in a unique numbered edition of 2,000 examples and it is supplied with a leather strap, closed by a buckle made of Panerai Composite.
Movement: Hand-wound mechanical, Panerai P.3000/1 calibre, executed entirely by Panerai, 16½ lignes, 5.3 mm thick, 21 jewels, Glucydur® balance, 21,600 alternations/hour. Incabloc® anti-shock device. Power reserve 3 days, two barrels. 160 components.Functions: Hours, minutes, small seconds.Case: Diameter 47 mm, brown Panerai Composite.Bezel: Brown Panerai Composite, integrated into the case.Back: See-through burnished sapphire crystal.Device protecting the crown: (protected as a Trademark) Brown Panerai Composite.Dial: Brown with luminous Arabic numerals and hour markers. Small seconds at 9 o'clock.Crystal: Sapphire, made from corundum, 2mm thick. Anti-reflective coating.Water-resistance: 10 bar (~100 metres).Strap: PANERAI personalised leather strap and large-size Panerai Composite buckle. Supplied with a second interchangeable strap and a steel screwdriver.Reference: PAM00375.
Calibre P.3000Entirely designed, developed and produced in the Officine Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel, the hand-wound P.3000 calibre presents the main characteristics of the Panerai movements both in terms of structure and in terms of performance, robustness, accuracy and its long power reserve.

The thickness of the calibre P.3000 is 5.3 mm and the diameter is 16½ lignes, a substantial size which traces its origins from that of the movements which were fitted to the historic Panerai models. The calibre is immediately recognisable by its construction, which is similar to that of a three-quarter plate movement: a large bridge, next to another smaller one, covers the majority of the mechanical parts and it is fixed to the bottom plate by a series of screws of substantial thickness, thus forming a particularly rigid structure.

The movement has 21 jewels and it uses two spring barrels connected in series. Such an arrangement enables long, thin springs to be used, which ensures the delivery of a more even force and also does so over a longer period of time, with a power reserve of 3 days. The balance wheel is unusually large (13.2 mm) and it is the variable inertia type, with four adjusting screws arranged externally round the ring, so that the rate can be regulated without it being necessary to remove the whole assembly. Supported by a bridge with twin supports - a fixing much safer and more stable compared to the cantilevered single bridge - the balance wheel oscillates at a frequency of 3 Hz, equivalent to 21,600 alternations per hour. It is fitted with an Incabloc® antishock device and is free-sprung, so there is no regulating lever.

With brush-finished bridges and chamfered angles - that is, with the angles smoothed and polished - the P.3000 calibre is also fitted with the device for the rapid adjustment of the time: a star wheel with 12 points and a small spring clutch enable the hour hand to be moved one hour at a time, without interfering with the movement of the minute hand or the operation of the watch.

  • Panerai - Luminor Marina 1950 3 Days Automatic Composite 44 mm

With its automatic Panerai P.9000 movement, its Luminor 1950 case in Panerai Composite® and its strict adherence to the functional and aesthetic codes which make every Panerai watch unique, the Luminor Marina 1950 3 Days Automatic Composite - 44 mm is a classic example of Panerai's tradition for innovation and quality.

The Luminor 1950 case and the bridge protecting the winding crown are executed in Panerai Composite®, the synthetic ceramic, used in haute horlogerie for the first time by Officine Panerai, which is created by an electro-chemical process involving the transformation of aluminium. Panerai Composite® is much lighter than ceramic but at the same time it is much harder and more resistant than steel, furthermore it is matt and extremely distinctive in appearance.

The large, unadorned brown dial is of a sandwich construction consisting of two superimposed layers containing the Super-LumiNova® which forms the fluorescent figures and hour markers. It is in the classic Panerai style, reflected by its thickness and high legibility even in the dark. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment.

The P.9000 automatic movement, which can be observed through the smoked sapphire crystal case back, is 13 ¾ lignes in diameter and 7.9 mm thick and it has been entirely designed and constructed within the Officine Panerai manufacture at Neuchâtel. This calibre has a date function, small seconds at 9 o'clock and a power reserve of three days, achieved by two spring barrels connected in series, with an oscillating rotor which winds the springs in both directions.

The Luminor Marina 1950 3 Days Automatic Composite - 44 mm is water-resistant to 30 atmospheres (about 300 metres) and it is supplied with a strap of antiqued brown leather, with a Composite buckle of the same colour. Identified by the reference PAM00386, it is part of the Contemporary collection.

  • Cabestan - Scuderia Ferrari One

    WORLDTEMPUS - 7 May 2010

Several brands—the latest in line being Girard-Perregaux and Panerai—have attempted to make good commercial use of a cooperation with Ferrari. But—honestly—they didn't really succeed.

Cabestan's Jean-François Ruchonnet and Timothy Bovard are expecting to break the streak with the collaboration they announced yesterday: the Scuderia Ferrari One by Cabestan uses the movement of the Winch Tourbillon Vertical as its mechanical base. For its visuals, Ruchonnet allowed himself to be deeply inspired by Ferrari race car technology and design. The result is eight cubic centimeters of pure mechanics dressed in a uniquely captivating design.

To find the pure essence of what makes up Ferrari's design magic, Ruchonnet teamed up with the Ferrari design team in Maranello headed up by design director Flavio Manzoni. The two worked together to identify elements in Ferrari's Formula 1 race cars that would become the basic design elements of the Scuderia Ferrari One: each component had to serve a specific purpose, and every material was chosen to enhance performance.
"This is not a simple licensing agreement as was the case with Panerai," Cabestan's president Timothy Bovard explains. "Cabestan and Ferrari have partnered to design, produce, and market the Scuderia Ferrari One by Cabestan. Ferrari will furnish certain components of the timepiece such as the titanium, the carbon fiber, and the leather."

"This is a joint product development between Ferrari and Cabestan and not a typical licensing/sponsorship agreement," Bovard continues. "As such, the financial relationship between the parties is royalty-based." In addition, Ferrari and Cabestan will directly market the timepiece to Ferrari owners only. "The Scuderia Ferrari One by Cabestan is a much more exclusive timepiece than any other ever developed with Ferrari or, in fact, with any other car brand in the world," Bovard explains the difference between this collaboration and others between watch- and automakers. Additionally, it will be possible for customers to have some elements of their own Scuderia Ferrari One by Cabestan personalized.

The Scuderia Ferrari One by Cabestan was created to honor the past sixty years of Ferrari racing in Formula One and will be offered only in a limited edition of 60 pieces. "This is just the first creation, and others will follow to celebrate specific events and car models in the world of Ferrari," Bovard assures us.
Bovard expects the first pieces to be ready by the end of the year. They will retail for € 300,000—which is more than the cost of a new Ferrari.
