The new Meisterstuck collection is inspired by the standards of the famous Montblanc Meisterstuck fountain pen. The moonphase display of the Meisterstuck Heritage Moonphase is integrated into the scale of the date display, which relies on a classical blued hand. The moon's phases appear in the traditional manner inside a semicircular window along a "double-bubble" line, which gives the moon's silhouette its gradually changing faces on the underlying disc.

The timepiece has all the characteristic features associated with Montblanc Meisterstuck Heritage design. The flanks of the 39-mm-diameter case descend vertically and bear horizontal satin finishing; the bezel is narrow, convexly rounded and polished to a glossy finish; the slightly cambered dial has a finely shimmering sunburst pattern; the hour circle is made of clearly faceted, applied indices and an applied Roman numeral "XII"; the dauphine hands are also sharply faceted.

The Meisterstuck Heritage Moonphase is powered by automatic Calibre MB 29.14 whose mechanisms can be viewed through a pane of sapphire crystal in the back of the case.

A black alligator-skin wristband with large reptilian scales and a pronged buckle round out the timelessly elegant appearance of the Montblanc Meisterstuck Heritage Moonphase. This timepiece will be available starting in the summer of 2014 for 11,500 euros in rose gold and 3,490 euros in stainless steel.

A three-day "International Gathering of the Tribe" in Sin City proved to be a major focal point of the Las Vegas shows - which included JCK, Couture, and other satellite exhibitions - that just ended at the beginning of this week.
What started out as Thomas Mao's private Internet page for horological commentary has, a decade later, blossomed into an original and interesting site for connoisseurs of fine timepieces that includes forums and articles.
More than 100 delegates of the online horology community PuristSPro attended from all corners of the globe. The meeting's focus was on independent watchmakers and manufactures promoting traditional horological values in the modern world. As the site has long been a supporter of independent watchmaking, an "independent's day" was included on the agenda. A number of these lone craftsmen produced special editions for the anniversary: Paul Gerber, Kari Voutilainen, Peter Speake-Marin, Ludovic Ballouard, Maximilian Busser, Bart Grönefeld and Donald Corson - the latter, an autodidact watchmaker, with his own UFO-Tourbillon. The audience was inspired by the stories of these men and their watches.
The other days were focused on manufactures with a "purist" approach to watchmaking and included Chopard, Audemars Piguet, Montblanc, Bulgari and DeWitt providing interactive sessions and presentations. The enthusiastic attendees, many of whom had interacted on the PuristS forums daily for years but never met in real life, reported having enjoyed this time of celebration and sharing.
