Seth Hancock of Claiborne Farm and the late Marcel Zarour Atanacio, the former chairman of OSAF (South American Organization for the Promotion of Thoroughbreds), have been chosen as the recipients of the 2015 Longines and IFHA International Award of Merit, presented by Longines, Official Partner and Official Watch of the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities.

The award was given by Juan-Carlos Capelli, Longines' Vice President, Head of International Marketing, and Louis Romanet, chairman of the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA), at the Gala Dinner of the Pan American Conference, on 5 June, in New York.

Seth Hancock oversaw Claiborne Farm from 1972 through 2013. Soon after he became president, he syndicated Secretariat for a then record $6.08 million before the champion 2-year-old colt had begun his 3-year-old campaign, a campaign that saw him become the first American Triple Crown winner in 25 years. Under Seth Hancock's guidance and leadership, Claiborne Farm has grown into an international business focusing on breeding and raising world-class Thoroughbred racehorses.In early 2014, he was succeeded as president of Claiborne Farm by his son Walker Hancock.

The late Marcel Zarour Atanacio was the former chairman of OSAF from 2011 until his death in late 2014. Under his stewardship, he advanced OSAF's activities and organization in order to strengthen the working relationship among its members and between South America, as well as the rest of the racing world. In March 2014, he oversaw an agreement between Longines and OSAF whereby Longines became an official partner of the federation and the Swiss timekeeper would become the main sponsor of the highly rated Group 1, the Longines Gran Premio Latinoamericano.

Longines, Official Timekeeper of the Dubai World Cupt and Presenting Partner of one of its highlights, the Dubai Sheema Classic presented by Longines, celebrated the 20th edition of the Dubai World Cup on Saturday 28 March 2015.

The winners of this year's Dubai World Cup, among which were His Highness the Aga Khan, Alain de Royer-Dupre and Christophe Soumillon, respectively winning owner, trainer and jockey of the 2015 Dubai Sheema Classic presented by Longines, as well as H.E.Sh. Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Saeed bin Suroor and William Buick, respectively winning owner, trainer and jockey of the 2015 Dubai World Cup, and Longines Ambassador of Elegance Aaron Kwok were presented with a special 20-timepiece-limited edition of the Conquest Classic Moonphase from the hands of Mr. Juan-Carlos Capelli, Vice President of Longines and Head of International Marketing and Mr. Patrick Aoun, Regional Brand Manager Longines Middle East. The sophistication of this rose gold chronograph, including a moonphase display, makes it an eminently refined timepiece and echoes the excellence and elegance of the stars of the equestrian universe.

In addition, this raceday witnessed the victory of Ana Pribylova at the Longines Most Elegant Lady prize and Marlon Weir at the Best Dressed Man prize. They were honoured by receiving refined Longines watches as well.

The was awarded to the two most precise classical archers over the season, Brady Ellison (USA) and Aida Roman (MEX), who also both clinched the World Cup title. Each was presented with a trophy, a Longines watch and a cheque for CHF 5,000.

The Swiss watch brand is also proud to announce the continuation of the partnership with World Archery that it entered into in 2008. The Official Watch for the event was a steel chronograph from the brand's Conquest Classic collection. With a diameter of 41 mm, this model features a black dial and houses an exclusive column-wheel chronograph movement. Like all the timepieces in the Conquest Classic collection, the watch is water-resistant to 5 bars and has a sapphire glass, screw-in case back.

The name Longines has long been associated with breathtaking feats achieved by pioneers who have always dared to go beyond their limits, notably in underwater exploration. In the 1950s the brand supplied measuring instruments for the bathyscaphe Trieste, which set a diving record in 1953. In addition to technical equipment, Longines also produced robust and reliable watches intended for use by keen amateur divers. Dating from the 1970s, two such models have been taken as inspiration for the new The Longines Heritage Diver watch.

Available in two versions, one with three hands and the other a chronograph, these new models boast a black, satin-finish dial that elegantly combines red highlights with details coated with Super-LumiNova®. Moreover, both versions feature a bidirectional rotating inner flange. Like the original creations, the two new models have a diameter of 43 mm. The case back, crown and bezel are screwed in, thus ensuring water-resistance to 30 bar (300 metres). The cushion-shaped steel case has a brushed sunburst decoration on the upper surface and is polished around the sides. The case back is engraved with the figure of a diver, recalling the first diving watches produced by Longines.

The model with 3 hands differs from the other with its daring mix of colours set off by the black dial, namely one red hand and red minute zones, touches of Super-LumiNova® coating and grey rhodium plating. The graduated scale from 0 up to 60 enables the diver to calculate how long he or she has been underwater by synchronising the 12 o'clock hour symbol with the minute hand. The inner flange is activated using the crown at 2 o'clock. The chronograph version boasts the same colour scheme, but in contrast the graduated scale on the flange goes from 60 down to 0. This enables the diver to calculate the remaining time, for example to allow for decompression when returning to the surface, by synchronising a given point with the minute hand. The new The Longines Heritage Diver watches are fitted on a black synthetic or rubber strap.

As part of this agreement, the Swiss watch brand will this year present the Longines Gran Premio Latinoamericano. This flat racing event is the perfect occasion at which to discover Conquest Classic, a collection dedicated to the world of horse racing. The event's Official Watch will be a steel chronograph from this line. With its 41 mm diameter, this timepiece has a black dial and is equipped with an exclusive column-wheel self-winding movement. As is the case with all models in the Conquest Classic collection, the watch's movement can be admired through its sapphire crystal case back.

Longines supports the activities of OSAF (Organización Latinoamericana de Fomento del Sangre Pura de Carrera), an institution involved in the promotion and development of horse races and thoroughbred horses throughout Latin America. OSAF is present in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.

The Longines Gran Premio Latinoamericano is the most important international Group 1 horse race in Latin America. This annual event is held in a different country in the region every year. On 15 March 2014, the Monterrico racecourse in Lima will host this prestigious event.

Longines was the Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of the proceedings. Bringing together over 650 exhibitors and breeders spread over 120,000 sq.m., the event served as preparation for the Longines FEI World Cup Jumping competition final, to be held precisely in Lyon From April 17 to 21 2014. What's more, on that Sunday, the Longines Grand Prix presented by GL Events was run - and won by Maikel van der Vleuten riding VDL Groep Verdi.
In the context of Equita'Lyon, Longines also provided its support to JustWorld International, a charity association, to help it further its mission successfully. JustWorld International collects funds for a variety of projects designed to assist children in developing countries, particularly within the ambit of its "Give 4 Good" worldwide campaign, backed by many professional riders. Every year, "Give 4 Good" provides over 3,000 children with an opportunity to improve the course of their life. In this perspective, Longines set up a "Longines Clear the Jump" contest at the 2013 Equita'Lyon competition. Every obstacle faultlessly cleared at the Longines Grand Prix presented by GL Events, had Longines make a donation to JustWorld International, enabling the Swiss watch brand to assist the association's work concretely.  
In Lyon, Longines presented Longines DolceVita. The timepiece of the event was a quartz watch in steel set with 32 diamonds whose sparkle emphasises the rectangular form and harmonious proportions of the case. The white dial features ten indices, an Arabic numeral 12 and silvered hands that indicate the hours and minutes, with a small second at 6 o'clock. This elegant, contemporary model is mounted on a steel bracelet.

The Commonwealth Games is an international, multi-sport event involving 70 teams of athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations. The largest multi-sport event ever to be held in Scotland, it will take place from 23 July - 3 August 2014. The event was first held in 1930 and takes place every four years. Glasgow 2014 will be the 20th Commonwealth Games and will feature 17 sports in 11 days of competition with 261 medal events on show. The Games will play host to 4500 athletes and sell 1,000,000 tickets with the event aided by an army of up to 15,000 local volunteers.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II launched the Glasgow 2014 Queen's Baton Relay on its global journey on Wednesday 9 October 2013 in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace attended by some of Scotland's greatest athletes, inspirational young people and senior representatives from across the Commonwealth.
The Queen placed Her message calling the athletes of the Commonwealth to next summer's Games inside a baton specially crafted in Scotland which will now travel to the 70 nations and territories of the Commonwealth before being opened at the Opening Ceremony.
The Queen's Baton Relay is a unique tradition that unites two billion citizens of the Commonwealth in a celebration of sport, diversity and peace and rallies 4,500 athletes from the 70 nations and territories. The Queen's Baton Relay and the Queen's Baton hold special royal significance. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is the Patron of the Commonwealth Games.
Longines' involvement in the Commonwealth Games dates back to 1962, when it was the timekeeper of the event in Perth (Australia).

Longines has resolved to provide its backing to a competition that embodies to perfection the key values that Longines' slogan distils: "Elegance is an Attitude". In recent years, this event has won recognition as one of the world's finest indoor competitions. Truly representative of Longines's own values, this new partnership further confirms the company's active investment in equestrian sports.
The brand's passion for equestrian sports began in 1878 with Longines' design of a chronograph featuring an engraved jockey and his mount. By 1912 the company had partnered for the first time with an international show-jumping competition. Today, the brand is an active partner in flat racing and endurance competitions along with show jumping.
The 2014 edition of the CSI Basel will take place January 9-12.

To mark its 180th anniversary, Longines is launching various new models throughout the year.

Founded in 1832 in the town of Saint-Imier, the famous Swiss watchmaker has a long tradition marked by the continual elegance of its products. Longines Heritage 1940 and Longines Heritage 1942 both symbolise the brand's rich history and are thus perfect products for celebrating this anniversary and extending Longines' Heritage segment. The distinctive shape of the watch case lends these models a striking look.

Longines Heritage 1940

Boasting a contemporary spirit, this watch is based on a model dating from 1940. It keeps indeed its central lines, such as the high bezel that gives it a b character and reminds the Longines' models of that time. Longines Heritage 1940 immediately catches the eye through its sleek lines and shaped contours. The circular steel case with a diameter of 38.50 mm houses a self-winding, mechanical movement, the calibre L615. The lacquered dial is available in white or black and features a railway-track minute ring and 11 Arab numerals. The hands are of blued steel in the white-dial version and rhodium-plated in the black version. And finally, the small seconds and date aperture at 6 o'clock complete the image of Longines Heritage 1940, which is mounted on a black alligator strap.

Longines Heritage 1942

Longines Heritage 1942 has been directly inspired by a model dating from 1942 which was fitted with calibre 13ZN. This new timepiece has a circular steel case with a diameter of 40 mm which houses calibre L688, a column-wheel chronograph movement designed exclusively for Longines. The round push-pieces blend perfectly into the distinctive shape of the case and remind the Longines' chronographs of that period, which are exceptional and much sought after models. The lacquered dial, available in white or black, features 9 Arab numerals to contrast with the dial and a railway-track minute ring as well as a tachometric scale around the rim of the dial. Finally blued steel hands, for the white-dial version, or rhodium-plated hands, for the black-dial version, harmonise beautifully with the elegance of the dial. Longines Heritage 1942 is fitted on a black alligator strap.

Sixteen children from all around the world will be playing in a mini-tournament leading up to an exciting mixed doubles final involving Gustavo Kuerten and Mary Pierce, who both won the French Open ten years ago. After this event, Longines will be continuing its support for disadvantaged children through its sponsorship of the charity foundations set up by Andre Agassi and Stefanie Graf, two of the brand's ambassadors of elegance. Finally, at a gala dinner a representative of the famous Swiss watch company will have the singular honour of presenting the Longines Prize for Elegance to a sportsperson whose commitment to helping those in need deserves recognition.

Longines has chosen to look to the future at Roland Garros this year by focusing on young tennis talent. In order to promote sport, respect for others, fair play and tolerance that the sport entails, the Swiss watch manufacturer will be hoping to find the tennis champions of tomorrow. In line with its slogan "Elegance is an attitude", Longines has become more and more involved in elegance in sport by supporting, as a first step, the charity foundations set up by Andre Agassi and Stefanie Graf, who are among its ambassadors of elegance. This year Longines will again be sponsoring the Andre Agassi Foundation and Children for Tomorrow, but also wants to help discover new young talent in the field of tennis by sponsoring promising players in the long term.

Longines will be inviting 16 children (8 boys and 8 girls between the ages of 10 and 12) from all around the world to come to Paris. Having been selected in their own countries on the basis of their tennis skills, these young hopefuls will play mixed doubles in a mini-tournament based on tie-break scoring. The children will be coached by Mansour Bahrami, who set up the Legends Trophy, as well as by Agnieszka Radwanska and Tsung-Hua Yang, who are also among Longines' ambassadors of elegance. The two winners of the tournament will then team up with Gustavo Kuerten and Mary Pierce for a show final that will take place on Saturday, 5 June 2010, on court no. 7. This match will give the children an opportunity to play alongside two tennis legends and to gain immeasurable experience: Gustavo Kuerten and Mary Pierce won the French Open ten years ago, walking away with the Musketeers Cup and the Suzanne Lenglen Trophy respectively. To reward and support the young victors, Longines will be offering them an annual stipend until they are 16 to help them to develop their tennis career. After the final, Longines will also be donating a cheque for $100'000 to the foundations set up by Andre Agassi and Stefanie Graf, which will be presented personally to two children from the Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy in Las Vegas.

At the gala dinner on the Saturday of the weekend when the finals are held, Longines will have the honour of presenting an award to a sportsperson whose commitment to helping the needy deserves recognition. In awarding the Longines Prize for Elegance, the Swiss watch manufacturer will be paying tribute to a tennis player who has demonstrated true elegance in his or her heart.
 
Finally, Longines will also be taking advantage of the occasion to launch its Longines Admiral Chronograph Ceramic. The face of this magnificent self-winding, mechanical chronograph is surrounded by a black ceramic bezel and is a perfect example of beauty combined with performance. Longines' latest model in its line of elegant sports watches is mounted on a stainless steel bracelet whose central links are also in ceramic.
