  • Hamilton - Jazzmaster Lady

Both classical and classy in appearance, the new Jazzmaster watches offer the contemporary woman the choice of an automatic or quartz movement. Feminine charm comes in the shape of teardrop indexes, sculptured nickeled hands integrating white Super-LumiNova® and a delicate, shimmering sunray pattern on the dial.

These duo of watches comes in a 30 mm stainless steel case. Both are fitted with a midnight blue strap or a white leather strap easily accessed thanks to the easy click feature.

  • Hamilton - Hamilton takes to the air

Which brand sets appointments at an altitude of 2,610 metres? The one and only Hamilton, which in this case had flown into Zermatt for the launch of its new Khaki Takeoff, issued in a limited edition in conjunction with one of the world's most well-respected rescue teams. The famous company also serves as a learning centre for teams from dozens of different countries who come to the Valais mountains to gain unique experience of search-and-rescue missions in sometimes extreme Alpine conditions.

For Hamilton, this partnership is as much about heart-felt kinship as it is about prestige. Not only has Hamilton been historically committed to the field of aviation, but it has also proved a faithful ally, including by supporting one of the most brilliant aerobatics pilots, Nicolas Ivanoff, for the past ten years. It's also been five years since Air Zermatt and Hamilton first crossed (flight) paths…

Inspired by the glaciers of the Valais region
This high-flying encounter gave rise in 2010 to the first Khaki model adorned with the famous Air Zermatt insignia. The next and most recent one shown here will be joining the 2015 collections. "We move at our own pace", says Sylvain Dolla, CEO Hamilton. "We have no strict schedule; we carefully monitor the feedback from pilots who tell us what they would find really useful, and we do our best to deliver it the following year."

As one would expect, this model boasts a generous 46.3 mm diameter. It is equipped with a specifically developed ETA H-31 calibre ensuring a 60-hour power reserve. But the most distinctive feature of this timepiece is the way it can be parted from its strap and thus transformed into a traditional fully-functional detachable chronograph that naturally finds its place on the cockpit instrument panel of the eight Air Zermatt helicopters. This system is nothing new for Hamilton, which had already used it for its Khaki Navy Pioneer, a model mounted at the time on a gimbal suspension system.

Another detail that betrays Air Zermatt's vocation is the fact that this watch has a counter displaying the hours rather than the date and thus serving to measure the elapsed time in flights that last longer than one hour. The pushers of these chronographs are thus also placed at noon so as to be easily activated even when the watch is not on its strap. This 'bullhead' type of design is not the general rule at Hamilton, which finds it appreciable within this context of professional usage, but of no particular relevance to the public at large.

    One model, three versions
The Khaki Takeoff is being introduced in two initial versions. The first is a 60-piece limited edition bearing the insignia of the mountain rescue service along with red markings. Why 60? Sylvain Dolla salutes the bright idea expressed by the pilots: "From the Matterhorn, you can see 60 mountains towering to 4,000 metres and above. The Takeoff will thus not be numbered, but instead each of the models will carry the name of one of these 60 peaks". Collectors take note: the most famous summits will thus be embodied in what are by nature one-of-a-kind creations. By order of engraving, the Mont Blanc will be the equivalent of watch number 1, the Matterhorn will be number 11, the Jungfrau number 36… and so on and so forth, each encapsulating a proud alpine and horological heritage.

Alongside this highly exclusive model, another one launched at the end of 2014 will be limited to 1,999 units and similar in all ways, apart from yellow tachometric markings. Finally, Hamilton has also announced the November 2015 launch of a three-hand plus date model with a more urban-style 42 mm case.

  • Hamilton - Flintridge

The original watch featured a protective cover and was the exclusive property of sportsmen destined for the great, dusty and damp outdoors. Today's wearers safeguard their own time with an intricately decorated folding flap ensuring the dial is for their eyes only.

    Hamilton Flintridge Gent

At first glance the closed Flintridge Gent reminds of an intricate 1930s radio microphone. The cover hosts a Clous de Paris pattern, interrupted only by two peepholes for the day and date, plus an embossed logo. Raising the "lid" reveals a silver-colored dial, also with a stamped Clous de Paris centerpiece, and dauphine-shaped, polished hands.

The H-40 movement, with 80 hours of power reserve, is visible through the case back. Giving today's Flintridge an unmistakably modern air is the layered architecture of the case with the distinctive finishes of its various surfaces. Its soave signature is a grey leather strap.

Only 999 watches will be available.

    Hamilton Flintridge Lady

The secret of the 2014 Flintridge Lady is pure feminine charm. A polished cover appears to emit sunrays from a round opening just above the 6 o'clock position. Shining through this opening is a cluster of seven diamonds, a tempting invitation to raise the protective covering.

The silver-colored dial, with finely shaped hands and applied indexes, along with the case's smooth surfaces, bring more elegant touches combined with an astute eye for detail.

The watch is worn on a burgundy strap. Only 999 ladies will own one of these limited edition watches.

  • Hamilton - Hamilton RailRoad Auto Chrono

Two new RailRoad timepieces connect Hamilton's deep-rooted tradition of transportation timekeeping with technology and design that love to access undiscovered territories. Alluding to the brand's title as "The Watch of Railroad Accuracy", gained in nineteenth century America, they integrate styling elements from pocket watches of that era. The RailRoad Auto Chrono has a coiled length of track accommodating a tachymeter, while the RailRoad Small Second has a new propriety movement affording an eye-catching dial layout. In this article, the RailRoad Auto Chrono watch is in highlight.

The case of the RailRoad Auto Chrono, with its rounded edges, vertical brushing and tapered pusher protectors, transports the imagination directly to the times of pocket watches. No longer confined to pockets, today's timepiece is secured by a stylish stainless steel bracelet or a black leather strap with fine stitching.

  • Hamilton - Hamilton Skeleton Gent

As a watch journalist, I am supposed to be objective and impartial, reporting on developments in the watch industry, new watches and profiles of personalities.

I have a confession to make.

I have a soft spot in my heart for Hamilton Watch. I lived in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the birthplace of Hamilton, for more than 20 years before I moved to Switzerland, and my father-in-law, Robert V. Hartman, was a master watchmaker for Hamilton. So, I was introduced to Hamilton very early on and grew to love the brand.

Hamilton has a long, very American history and today's Hamilton, owned by the Swiss Swatch Group, honors this heritage with its designs, its marketing and its emphasis on innovation. As a result, I have remained close to the brand and am fortunate enough to have several Hamilton watches in my collection, including the iconic Ventura and the recent Hamilton Navy Pioneer Limited Edition.

Hamilton has done a good job honoring its past while at the same time continuing to innovate with new movements, designs and initiatives. Innovation has indeed been a hallmark for Hamilton since the beginning, when the company pioneered the mass-produced low-cost watch, as well as precise railroad watches.

Later, the company earned plaudits for its efforts during World War II, and the postwar era was distinguished by ground-breaking work in automation and new materials, including breakthroughs in lubrication.

    Skeleton
I am a big fan of skeleton watches. I love being able to see into the beating heart of the watch, which is why I was so impressed when Hamilton introduced the Jazzmaster Viewmatic Skeleton for men and women at the end of 2013. This is a watch that is not only good looking, but also ably embodies all that Hamilton has going for it. It is a skeleton, showcasing the automatic movement beating inside, while also featuring a brand-new movement, the H-20-S, and a new laser-engraving technique.

"The H-20-S is a skeleton movement exclusive to Hamilton and was developed with ETA," says Sylvain Dolla, president of Hamilton Watch Worldwide. "Often a skeleton is designed in a traditional way. With the Jazzmaster Collection, we underline the contemporary decoration, including laser engraving and vertical brushing, as well as a 3D and see-through effect. Thanks to generously dimensioned openings and a multilevel dial, the wearer enjoys a maximal view on the movement, including components such as the hairspring and the beautiful barrel escapement."

Hamilton has a lot to offer watch lovers, both entry level and those who are more sophisticated. The price points are reasonable and buying a Hamilton is a way to be a part of this very American brand's continuing legacy.

  • Hamilton - Jazzmaster Lady Auto

This model with a mother of pearl dial, is punctuated with 12 diamonds. Elongated teardrops mark the hours.
The automatic movement is visible through the case back. A round face flows into an oval-shaped case form, while teardrop-shaped lugs and indices tease the eye.

The Jazzmaster Lady Auto features a classical, five-row stainless steel bracelet. Hamilton developped a versatile and highly practical attachment concept. An easy click spring bar facilitates the exchange of the jewelry-style metal bracelets for a white leather strap.

  • Filmmaking - Action!

    Urwerk & Jackie Chan
The star of martial arts comedies, Jackie Chan, found himself instantly drawn to Felix Baumgartner's muscular creations at a private presentation in Paris (photo) and quite naturally asked to wear them on-screen. Launched in China although not yet in Europe, Chinese Zodiac shows three very unexpected UR-202s worn by Jackie Chan and his team. This is a great piece of exposure for Urwerk, and all the more so because the hilarious actor even manages to take photographs with his timepiece !
    Hamilton & Bruce Willis
You don't change a winning team. In the Die Hard saga, Bruce Willis once again wears a Hamilton but has picked a new model. After Die Hard, Back to Hell, the toughest guy of successful action films shows up in Die Hard, a Beautiful Day to Die with a Hamilton Jazzmaster Viewmatic on his wrist (a classic style that is surprising for Bruce Willis who may have a double personality?) In the film, his charming and muscular son, Jai Courtney, wears a watch that is better suited to elevated testosterone levels - a Hamilton Khaki X-Patrol. Hamilton has adopted a habit of partnering with science fiction movies, such as the very futuristic 2001: A Space Odyssey by Stanley Kubrick, or more recently I am Legend and the very popular trilogy Men in Black.

  • Hamilton - Playing the Jazzmaster tune and staging a face-to-face horological encounter

The Jazzmaster is the undisputed star of the Hamilton collections. After devoting two in-house (ETA-based) movements to this range, the H21 and H31 chronographs with their 60-hour power reserves, Hamilton unveils the H20s - of which the letter 's' stands for 'skeleton-worked'. Available as of early October 2013, this Jazzmaster Viewmatic Skeleton will be the brand's first three-hand skeleton model.
Hamilton also welcomes a second new movement, H12, that will also be used in the Jazzmaster collection, but this time for a new Regulator model (a timepiece in which the hours and minutes hands are not placed on the same central pivot, but offset in two separate counters). "This is a movement developed with the support of the Swatch Group but which will be offered to other brands in addition to Hamilton", says Sylvain Dolla, CEO Hamilton International.

This invaluable economic, logistic and industrial support is doubly beneficial to Hamilton. First of all, by enabling it to meet b demand that has seen the brand record "double-digit growth for seven consecutive years", as Sylvain Dolla points out. It can thus offer an extremely diversified range of products to a "young, urban clientele often making its first purchase in the field of mechanical watchmaking", adds the CEO. "These customers are also increasingly better informed: they arrive in the boutique with a good knowledge of the models and sometimes even with screen captures from our website!".
The second positive repercussion of the Swatch Group backing is the extremely attractive pricing of the models, mostly falling within the CHF 500 to 1,500 range. Given its ongoing success, does Hamilton intend to move upmarket, including in terms of price? "Definitely not!" insists Sylvain Dolla. "In this price segment, we have a wide-open road ahead of us for many years to come".

    Limited-edition movie presence

Anyone acquainted with Hamilton is aware that the brand has been highly active in the field of cinema since the 1950s, from the first Elvis Presley feature films to action flicks such as Men in Black, Die Hard and Fight Club. "We work on a daily basis with the Los Angeles studio accessorists", explains Sylvain Dolla. "It is generally they who come knocking on our door, making specific requests for an upcoming production. They don't have any specific watchmaking knowledge, a fact that sometimes leads to some daunting mechanical challenges in order to give horological shape to their cinematographic visions!"
This year, the vision is embodied in the Jazzmaster Face 2 Face. It is based on the principle of one watch with two independent movements. The visual effect of this 888-piece limited series lies in the fact that each of the two faces reveals either a chronograph or a three-hand dial, juxtaposed with the skeletonised rotor of one of the two automatic movements. This imposing Face 2 Face model with its outsized oval-shaped 53 x 44 mm case displays a striking contrast between the displays and the movements and the void surrounding them and taking up as much if not more space.

Hamilton thus wraps up Baselworld 2013 while remaining true to its image as a dynamic, youthful, creative and accessible brand. The only variation in its line of conduct relates to its future orientation: thus far bly rooted in military circles (Hamilton has supplied timepieces to most of the world's armed forces), the brand now intends to focus more on the civilian environment.

  • Hamilton - Jazzmaster Auto Chrono

The new Hamilton Jazzmaster Auto Chrono uses the latest innovations in watchmaking to improvise on the proven melody represented by its original version. Driven by the recently developed H-21 movement, this high-performance automatic chronograph can rely on 60 hours of power reserve. Modernity is king in the confidently contemporary shaping of the case and the dial design.

In its entirety, the Hamilton Jazzmaster Auto Chrono is a picture of sophistication that masters usability and reliability.

    Detail shapes design

Special shaping of the antireflective sapphire crystal enables maximum dial visibility, subtly guiding the eye to the three counters. These are grouped on the left to allow the date display at 4 o'clock optimal exposure. Tapered pushers elegantly mirror the lugs' form and the requited love of detail also finds expression in 'Clous de Paris' dial decoration.

Styling choices enable the Hamilton Jazzmaster Auto Chrono to harmonize with the rhythms of diverse lifestyles. A new five-row stainless steel bracelet for instance merges seamlessly into the contemporary case. While rose gold-colored indexes bring warm tones to a version with a silver dial and crocodile-pattern brown leather strap. The five-b family is equipped to satisfy different wearer types, united by their zero-tolerance attitude with regard to timekeeping accuracy and material quality.

Hamilton was founded in 1892 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA. Hamilton watches combine the American spirit with the unrivalled precision of the latest Swiss movements and technologies. Known for its innovative design, Hamilton has a b foothold in Hollywood, with products appearing in 400 films. The brand also boasts a b aviation heritage. Hamilton is a member of the Swatch group, the largest watch manufacturer and distributor in the world with 160 production sites in Switzerland.

  • TAG Heuer - Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton began karting at the age of 8 and was very soon spotted by Ron Dennis who saw in him a rising Formula 1 star. In 2002, he moved up to racing cars, winning the English Formula Renault championship the following year.
In 2004, he moved on to the F3 Euroseries, where he notched up 15 victories, 10 of the fastest times and 13 pole positions and where, a year later, he won the title. His rise continued in 2006 as he won the GP2 championship with the ART Grand Prix team.

This young prodigy's career, made up of eagerly accepted challenges, will flourish this year in Formula 1 as he joins the two-time world champion, Fernando Alonso, as part of the McLaren Mercedes Vodafone team.
TAG Heuer is proud to count Lewis Hamilton among its ranks - never a man to refuse a challenge - and wishes him great success in the formidable world of Formula 1.

  • TAG Heuer - Sharapova, DiCaprio, Wood and Hamilton

    La Revue FH - 30 April 2009 - No 8
In a time of economic challenge, TAG Heuer is extending its bold vision of the avant-garde with a brand new, emotionally charged ad campaign that challenges the very rules of endorsement marketing.
The famous challenge of TAG Heuer, «What are you made of?», is the common thread linking the past campaign to this daring new one. Now, however, the confrontational claim expresses the unique drive and passion of these super-achieving Knights of Time.
The visually stunning campaign coincides with the signing of new TAG Heuer ambassador Leonardo DiCaprio, who is partnering with the brand to support two of the world's most important environmental charities: the Natural Resources Defense Council and Green Cross International. The Hollywood superstar and committed environmental activist will appear in the new campaign endorsements of TAG Heuer's new ultra-masculine Aquaracer 500. Other visuals will feature world number one golfer Tiger Woods for Link, 2008 F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton for TAG Heuer's bestselling Carrera line and tennis superstar Maria Sharapova for women's expression of Aquaracer and Link.
The sophisticated visuals were shot by master photographer Tom Munro, whose glamorous photos regularly appear on the covers of Italian Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. Produced by CLM BBDO, the campaign will be launched worldwide in May.
«TAG Heuer's 2009 ad campaign is an inspirational tale of personal achievement, » said Jean-Christophe Babin, TAG Heuer President and CEO. «It tells the story of extraordinary individuals who transcend obstacles to realize dreams and attain the unreachable - and then keep going, setting their sights even higher, on horizons not yet dreamed of. These incredible men and woman are champions who never stop thinking of themselves as challengers. This is why, in their stunning portraits by Tom Munro, they don't wear the watches on their wrists but brandish them in their fists - as public declaration of their determination. The timepieces aren't accessories, they are talismans - lucky charms accompanying heroes on a perennial quest to be better, ber, faster.»
