  • Hamilton - Jazzmaster Skeleton Lady

This sophisticated automatic ladies' watch expresses the sheer beauty of overcoming technical challenges. Integrating a cut-out flower into a mother of pearl dial was indeed no easy task. The elaborately decorated Hamilton H-20-S movement that reveals itself through the petals is a justified source of fascination.

In the widely spoken language of color, blue is said to exhibit inner security and confidence, very appropriate for the skeletonized construction. Navy blue is used in the design of the two new Hamilton Jazzmaster Skeleton Lady models, for example in a fashionable, satinized strap, and saluting the fine art of watchmaking is a flamed blue second hand. The 36 mm diameter case is delicately set with 68 diamonds.

  • Hamilton - RailRoad Lady Auto - 32 mm

In 2015, a rich palette of blues, from navy to petrol, adds its signature to the latest Hamilton ladies' watches. The color of elegance, sophistication and serenity makes b style statements in the name of the modern female. Harmoniously partnering materials such as mother of pearl and diamonds, or flirting with sunray patterns or teardrop indexes, blue steals the show.

We are introducing today the first watch: the RailRoad Lady Auto - 32 mm. Eleven diamonds, set in square chatons, and a precise automatic movement keep this refined ladies' timepiece on track for looks and performance. Fine blue markings towards the center of a mother of pearl dial form a perfect circle and match the flamed blue second hand.
A petrol blue leather strap intensifies the distinctive color code, or a classical metal bracelet presents a different look. The easy click fixture facilitates alternating between the two, to suit a change of mood or outfit. Femininity always has the final word via elongated indexes and slender nickeled hour and minute hands.

  • Opinion column - Watches 1 - cars 0

Everyone has lucky days. Really lucky ! The kind of luck that allows us to catch the bus in extremis in driving rain or even better that stops a pair of tights from running when caught on a chair. That kind of luck happens! For anyone in any doubt, I have irrefutable evidence. Just as I was getting annoyed with my boyfriend's invasive watch collection, a friend said to me with a sigh : "you're so lucky - mine collects cars ! And old cars at that, which means that they can't go faster than 40km an hour downhill - assuming they even work in the first place". And right there and then, although I am well aware that one shouldn't take pleasure in other people's misfortunes, my personal world seemed a little brighter. Because a car collection means a garage needs to be built next to the house, which therefore no longer looks like a chic, contemporary villa ; or else implies a need to find parking spaces in a block of apartments, which is basically mission impossible.

All of a sudden, the watches belonging to the man in my life seemed so small and inoffensive. I could almost have given them a hug. Well, I did say almost, so let's not get too carried away! But it no longer seemed to matter that they have insidiously colonized my space inside the chest of drawers, nor that we have installed a hideous safe in the dressing room after some stormy discussions… Because the watch-loving man would have preferred to have his collection in the bedroom, as close to him as possible - to the point where I felt my place on the pillow was threatened ! Never mind the pile of empty, useless boxes in which the man stubbornly refuses to put away his watches due to extreme laziness.

And never mind the deadly boring monologue which accompanies every burst of renewed enthusiasm for a watch he had neglected. My whole being was pervaded with a Zen-like sense of serenity. Because, yes, I am lucky, I might have had to share my life with cars and even had to have one in my living room, because there are always potential risks when it comes to a collector's ideas on interior design. I might have found myself confronted by a partner transformed into a Sunday DIY specialist, covered in grease and bursting with pride in his mechanical feats. Or have had to accompany him to the races every Sunday and then get excited about his - pseudo - exploits, or even spend the night in the emergency department because he mistook himself for Hamilton !

I am so lucky that I am even going to treat my man to a new watch !

  • IWC - Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton present their own watches

Apart from their professional interest in Fomula One, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg also share a passion for mechanical watches. As brand ambassadors of IWC Schaffhausen, they had a hand in the design of their own watches, and, prior to the first practice sessions on the track, appeared for their presentation at an IWC event in Singapore.
The results are impressive: the Ingenieur Chronograph Edition "Lewis Hamilton" (Ref. IW379602) has a distinctly technical appeal, while the Ingenieur Chronograph Edition "Nico Rosberg" (Ref. IW379603) is both lighter and sportier in appearance.

The main aims of the collaboration between IWC and the two drivers were to equip both teammates with a personalized and characteristic watch and to adapt the concept of "performance engineering" to the successful Silver Arrow drivers.

The fact that the watch chosen was a chronograph from the Ingenieur family was no coincidence. First, the chronograph is the epitome of sports timing; and, second, the Ingenieur collection pays tribute to the global partnership between IWC and Mercedes AMG Petronas with materials typically used in motorsport, such as titanium, carbon fibre and ceramic. For both Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton, the only conceivable material for the case was titanium.
The rugged timepieces have been equipped with one of the most efficient movements manufactured entirely by IWC, the 89361 calibre, equipped with IWC double-pawl winding system.

The upper totalizer displays clocked hours and minutes as clearly as the time of day. Stopped times up to one minute are measured by the central seconds hand. Another very practical feature for anyone who frequents the world's racing circuits is the flyback function for measuring pit-stop times.
Both of the special editions, which are each limited to 250 watches, have a special feature on the reverse side: inset into the titanium case back is a medallion of carbon fibre, which may well show signs of wear and tear.
A certificate supplied with each watch confirms that the material originally comes from one of the Silver Arrow cars used by Mercedes AMG Petronas.
The back of the watch is sealed with a water-resistant sapphire glass that bears the personal logo of Nico Rosberg or Lewis Hamilton on the inner surface.

    Lewis Hamilton's timepiece
"I wanted to have a watch that featured a lot of technology," says Lewis Hamilton. The racing driver prefers metal bracelets and chose rugged, skin-friendly titanium for the Ingenieur Chronograph Edition "Lewis Hamilton". In doing so, the technophile Mercedes driver also created the only watch in the entire IWC collection with a titanium bracelet.

    Nico Rosberg's timepiece
"For me, IWC watches epitomize not only complex technology and unmatched performance but also passion and emotions," is how Nico Rosberg sums up his impressions. "These were also the elements that I wanted my watch to embody. I was certain that the combination of my favourite material, titanium, with the black strap and the bright dial would create a striking contrast." The yellow colour of the seconds hand and of the hands in the totalizer at "12 o'clock" recalls the neon yellow helmet that was Nico Rosberg's trademark for 7 years. The watch features a rubber strap, which has an added touch of luxury with its embossed calfskin inlay and grey quilted stitching.

Renewal of partnership with Mercedes AMG Petronas
IWC Schaffhausen also announces the renewal of its current partnership with the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One™ Team for a further 3 years.

  • Summer watches - 6 colourful men's watches for the summer

When taking colour as your sole point of reference, you can run the entire gamut of watches, from in-your-face fluorescence to the subtle gradient of richer colours on the dial of a more classic piece and all points in between. Take a look at the photo gallery above to see what we mean.

A fluorescent yellow-green has become the signature colour of HYT watches after the company started out showing the hours on its watches by the movement of a liquid in this colour. In the latest limited-edition H1 model, the same colour grabs the attention on the case of the "Azo project", named after the type of polyepoxide used in the manufacture of the case.

A simple change of strap colour can make a big difference to a watch, as Bell & Ross demonstrates with the bright orange canvas strap on its limited edition BR 03-94 Carbon Orange model. Orange is the colour reserved for essential information in a plane's cockpit and thus fits perfectly with the brand's aviation associations.

Hamilton, on the other hand, goes for a tone-on-tone extension of the blue background and red accents on the dial of its Pan Europ model with a matching stripy textile strap. The result is a watch that looks as if it was made for the summer. Blue is also the logical colour for the new Abyss 44mm chronograph by Hysek, especially when teamed up with a matching blue leather strap. Swivelling lugs on the lightweight titanium ensure that it adapts perfectly to the contours of your wrist.

On its Marine "Deck Chronometer", L. Leroy opts for brown tones reminiscent of the teak found on vessels when the company used to produce marine chronometers for over thirty different naval forces. H. Moser & Cie. takes things a step further with its new signature smoked red-gold dial on the Venturer Small Seconds, adding a pleasing new hue to the palette of dial colours.

  • Hamilton - Hamilton Skeleton Gent

As a watch journalist, I am supposed to be objective and impartial, reporting on developments in the watch industry, new watches and profiles of personalities.

I have a confession to make.

I have a soft spot in my heart for Hamilton Watch. I lived in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the birthplace of Hamilton, for more than 20 years before I moved to Switzerland, and my father-in-law, Robert V. Hartman, was a master watchmaker for Hamilton. So, I was introduced to Hamilton very early on and grew to love the brand.

Hamilton has a long, very American history and today's Hamilton, owned by the Swiss Swatch Group, honors this heritage with its designs, its marketing and its emphasis on innovation. As a result, I have remained close to the brand and am fortunate enough to have several Hamilton watches in my collection, including the iconic Ventura and the recent Hamilton Navy Pioneer Limited Edition.

Hamilton has done a good job honoring its past while at the same time continuing to innovate with new movements, designs and initiatives. Innovation has indeed been a hallmark for Hamilton since the beginning, when the company pioneered the mass-produced low-cost watch, as well as precise railroad watches.

Later, the company earned plaudits for its efforts during World War II, and the postwar era was distinguished by ground-breaking work in automation and new materials, including breakthroughs in lubrication.

    Skeleton
I am a big fan of skeleton watches. I love being able to see into the beating heart of the watch, which is why I was so impressed when Hamilton introduced the Jazzmaster Viewmatic Skeleton for men and women at the end of 2013. This is a watch that is not only good looking, but also ably embodies all that Hamilton has going for it. It is a skeleton, showcasing the automatic movement beating inside, while also featuring a brand-new movement, the H-20-S, and a new laser-engraving technique.

"The H-20-S is a skeleton movement exclusive to Hamilton and was developed with ETA," says Sylvain Dolla, president of Hamilton Watch Worldwide. "Often a skeleton is designed in a traditional way. With the Jazzmaster Collection, we underline the contemporary decoration, including laser engraving and vertical brushing, as well as a 3D and see-through effect. Thanks to generously dimensioned openings and a multilevel dial, the wearer enjoys a maximal view on the movement, including components such as the hairspring and the beautiful barrel escapement."

Hamilton has a lot to offer watch lovers, both entry level and those who are more sophisticated. The price points are reasonable and buying a Hamilton is a way to be a part of this very American brand's continuing legacy.

  • Richard Mille - The Brand supports Felipe Massa

On September 11, Felipe Massa, 32, announced his departure from Scuderia Ferrari after seven years as an official team driver. His record in the Italian team is exemplary: 132 starts, 11 victories, 15 pole positions, and second place in the 2008 World Championships, just one point behind Lewis Hamilton.
Regardless of what the 2014 season holds, Richard Mille will continue to support Felipe in his sporting decisions. "Felipe is a remarkably intelligent, insightful man, whose impressive career is far from over. We have remained at his side through thick and thin, as with our friend Rafael Nadal, offering our unwavering support and friendship", explains Richard Mille.
As the brand's first partner in 2004, Felipe driving for Sauber has contributed to the development of some of the most unprecedented technical watchmaking solutions, and still tests them today on the world's biggest race tracks. The finest example of this collaboration is the RM 006 FM featuring carbon nanofibers. It was the first time a tourbillon watch was worn at the start of an F1 race, and it remained on his wrist throughout the entire 2004 season, witnessing the Brazilian driver's victories and vicissitudes without requiring any maintenance.

  • Hamilton - Khaki Pilot Pioneer Auto Chrono

Hamilton has been fuelling its expertise in creating aviators' timepieces since 1919. This mix of a pioneering heritage and technological innovation is again prominent on the brand's radar screen in 2013, in the form of the Hamilton Khaki Pilot Pioneer Auto Chrono.
Inspired by Hamilton timepieces created in the 1970s for the British Royal Air Force, the design team chose clean styling to showcase the new watch's appealing materials and easy-to-use timekeeping competence. The numbers on the dial are bold to facilitate fast easy reading, and Super-LumiNova® hour indices help in the dark. They are white on the rugged black dial and black against the alternative ivory-colored background. Sandblasted elements on the case remain true to the pioneering aviation roots of the design, protecting the wearer against distracting reflected sunlight, inside and outside the cockpit environment.

The Hamilton Khaki Pilot Pioneer Auto Chrono is powered by the newly developed, propriety H-31 movement. Stemming from the Valjoux 7753, it offers 60 hours power reserve and can be seen through the open case-back. An asymmetrical case integrates a protected crown and pushers. And just like the glass of its highly respected 1970s ancestors, the sapphire crystal is bly domed.
A wide choice of attachments is available, embracing stainless steel, black leather and a selection of textile straps, including a very appropriate military kaki option.

  • Hamilton - Jazzmaster Lady Auto

This model with a mother of pearl dial, is punctuated with 12 diamonds. Elongated teardrops mark the hours.
The automatic movement is visible through the case back. A round face flows into an oval-shaped case form, while teardrop-shaped lugs and indices tease the eye.

The Jazzmaster Lady Auto features a classical, five-row stainless steel bracelet. Hamilton developped a versatile and highly practical attachment concept. An easy click spring bar facilitates the exchange of the jewelry-style metal bracelets for a white leather strap.
