TAG Heuer - Limited Edition Monaco for Porsche Club
WORLDTEMPUS - 1 July 2010
"It's not just the cars, it's the people…" Vu T.H. Nguyen, executive director of the Porsche Club of America, loves to say. And thus, Nguyen and Porsche owner Georg Bartkowiak (the selfsame marketing expert who is behind the unique mini-brand Grieb & Benzinger Platinum) have joined forces with TAG Heuer to create a special edition of the Monaco model released last year expressly for Porsche drivers to be able to show their true colors.
The Porsche Club of America was founded 55 years ago by a commercial artist at home in the greater Washington, D.C. area. The annual "Treffen"—which began as a get-together in Stuttgart with the Porsche Club of Germany—remains one of the club's most important ventures and allows members to have an all-inclusive Porsche experience in the country of the car's manufacture. Now serving more than 100,000 members, the PCA is the largest single-marque club in the world.
The official limited edition of the TAG Heuer Monaco manufactured for the Porsche Club of America has a special dial designed in red and black rally stripes and a prominent racing number: "55." The case back is embellished with the Porsche Club of America's logo. The time, legible in darker conditions thanks to the use of luminous substance on the steel hands and hour markers, is secured to the wrist by a special black leather strap with racing holes and red stitching that is not available at retail. This model can only be ordered through the Porsche Club of America.
