This new version of the Imperiale watch is being launched in three of Chopard's favourite colours: timeless white, as well as two subtle pastels. Lavender blue and powder pink. Crafted in rose gold for versions with a pink and white mother-of-pearl dial, and white gold for the blue version, the Imperiale watch also comes with a range of satin straps matching the dial colours. The bezel, lugs and hour-markers are set with brilliant-cut diamonds,
resulting in a model whose elegance is rooted in History and entirely in tune with modern times.

Born in the 1990's and entirely redesigned in 2010, the Imperiale watch presents a wealth of distinctive features which are reminiscent of the imperial era - starting with Roman
numerals punctuating the dial and marking off the hours. In this fresh development of the line, they appear on a shimmering mother-of-pearl dial giving the watch unprecedented luminosity. The hands divide this canvas, while their curves are reminiscent of the sharp daggers used by sovereigns in battle. The crown, curved like a lotus flower and set with a diamond, is mounted on a case middle with curved sides to give a lighter touch to the model. The shape of the lugs reflects the tradition of antique columns, which have remained famous for the balance and perfection of their proportions.

On the occasion of the 66th Cannes International Film Festival, which began on May 15th and will end this Sunday, stars are thronging the red carpet to pay tribute to the 7th art.
While the race for the famous Palme d'Or which rewards the best film of the year is the prize most coveted by directors, the race for "who will be the most beautiful woman to glide up the famous red-carpeted staircase" involves a bevy of actresses, jewellers and fashion designers. While the sun was a no-show at the party this year, diamonds nonetheless sparkled as usual in the spotlights.
Chopard, the historical partner of the Festival for which Caroline Scheufele redesigned the Palme in 1998, enables certain celebrities to choose jewellery to set the perfect finishing touch to their outfits.
Among them was Marion Cotillard who came to Cannes to promote the film Blood Ties directed by her partner Guillaume Canet and made a noteworthy appearance in her delightfully 1970s dress, while fellow actresses Bing Bing and Eva Longoria also wore their Chopard jewellery with exquisite elegance.

Chinese actress Fan Bing Bing chose to wear a white and rose gold bracelet set with pink sapphires (282 carats) and brilliants (8 carats), white and rose gold earrings set with navette-cut rubellites (35 carats), pear-shaped rubellites (18 carats), pear-shaped diamonds (2 carats), heart-shaped emeralds (2 carats), rubies (2 carats) and brilliants as well as two yellow gold rings set with pink sapphires (13 carats) and brilliants.

Presenter Jane Fonda looked radiant on the red carpet wearing a pair of yellow diamond chandelier earrings (28 carats) set in 18-carat yellow gold, and an emerald cut yellow diamond ring (10 carats) set in brilliant-cut white diamond pave (6 carats) and 18-carat yellow and white gold.

Presenter Kerry Washington looked beautiful on the red carpet wearing a pair of fancy-cut yellow diamond earrings (10 carats) with trilliant-cut white diamond detail, set in 18-carat yellow gold.
