Zenith - 13th Annual Best Buddies Challenge
Zenith Timepieces continuously supports causes dedicated to the advancement of humankind, through supporting research, exploration, sporting and scientific progress. Founded by Anthony Kennedy Shriver-The Best Buddies International is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating opportunities for friendship, employment and leadership training for people with intellection and developmental disabilities.
Over 1,500 people participated in the Best Buddies Challenge weekend which consisted of a charity walk, run and ride to benefit Best Buddies International. Tom Brady, the New England Patriots quarterback and Best Buddies Global Ambassador, will serve as Honorary Chairman and will lead his team to the finish line.
The weekend program kicked off with The Tom Brady Football Challenge which took place at Harvard Stadium on Friday June 1st. During the game, Brady quarterbacked alongside Best Buddies participants and supporters. As official timekeeper of the organization Zenith Timepieces sponsored a team in the Football Challenge.
Following the game, celebrity chef, Guy Fieri, a best-selling cookbook author and host of several Food Network shows, including "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" and "Guy's Big Bite" hosted a tailgate party along side several lucky Best Buddies participants who served as Fieri's sous-chefs. After the tailgate party, Zenith Timepieces donated their signature "El Primero" watch that was auctioned off by Tom Brady and Anthony Kennedy Shriver.
The second day of the challenge, on Saturday June 2nd hundreds of cyclists took the starting line at Boston's John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum or the picturesque 100-mile ride portion of the Best Buddies Challenge that began in Hyannis Port and finished in Boston. The challenge also featured an alternative 50 and 20 mile cycling routes, as well as the Carl Lewis Challenge, a 5K run or walk led by the Olympic gold-medalist.
The challenge weekend was capped off with a New England-style clambake and private concert by Indie-Pop band The Plain White T's.
