AUTAVIA

In 2003, TAG Heuer is launching a contemporary version of the Autavia model created by Jack Heuer himself 40 years ago.
In tribute to Autavia, the legendary dashboard and instrument panel counter that was standard equipment on many planes and cars in the 1930s, Jack Heuer created the Autavia model in 1963, fitted as of 1969 with a Chronomatic Caliber 11 with microrotor, a genuine technological innovation for the period as the first automatic chronograph movement.
Having become a legend thanks to F1 Swiss racing driver Jo Siffert, the Autavia was redesigned in 2002 by Jack Heuer himself with the TAG Heuer Research and Development teams and will be presented for the first time at the Basel Show in 2003.

The tonneau shape of its case with its crown positioned at 9 o'clock and its two registers, respectively placed at 2 o'clock (for the seconds) and at 4 o'clock (for the minutes), make the Autavia a resolutely contemporary model with an avantgarde design in the choice of its two dials: an opalescent silvered version with black registers and blue hands, and a black one with silvered registers and orange hands.

2000 AQUAGRAPH, THE PROFESSIONAL DIVER'S CHRONOGRAPH

Twenty years after the creation of a 2000 series developed to meet diver's expectations, TAG Heuer presents the 2000 Aquagraph, an automatic chronograph with unique functions, a high-tech creation designed for professional diving.
Several innovations have been combined within this exceptional sporting model:
To ensure maximum security when diving, TAG Heuer has patented a unique autolock turning bezel system which avoids any risk of the diver turning it accidentally in one or the other direction. Thus, even if his arm hits a rock, the reference points cannot be thrown out and the diver can enjoy unrestricted freedom of movement.
The automatic Caliber 60 movement is unique, since it displays the chronograph minute hand in the center of the dial and not in a register like traditional automatic chronographs. Reading off the minutes timed at decompression levels is thus obvious and immediate. In addition to Caliber 60 and the autolock turning bezel, the 2000 Aquagraph ensures effective water-resistance at 500 meters. It also comprises a screw-locked crown with safety indicator and an automatic helium valve for dives in hyperbaric chambers.
Because when diving a watch is not just indispensable but vital, the TAG Heuer 2000 Aquagraph has been designed as a constant point of reference, the last indicator when all other instruments have stopped.

"MICROSPLIT CONCEPT WATCH" BY TAG HEUER

TAG Heuer presents a world preview at Basel 2003 of an innovativeconcept watch on the cutting edge of high technology: the Microsplit.
This concept watch features two major innovations:
- The Microsplit is the first product in watchmaking history to incorporate "Liquid Metal™". Hitherto used in aeronautics, this amorphous metal makes the case of the chronograph almost as scratch-resistant as ceramics.
- The Concept Watch is also the first prestigious Swiss wrist-worn 1/1000th timekeeping instrument.
After launching the Micrograph, the first 1/100th of a second timekeeping instrument in 1916, and later the Microtimer in 1966 which was the first wrist-worn 1/100th of a second timekeeping instrument, TAG Heuer pursues its quest for innovation by incorporating timing to within one thousandth of a second within a wrist chronograph. However, watch connoisseurs will need to be patient, since this model is still only at the state of a Concept Watch.
