TAG Heuer - Special Night welcoming Ron Howard
The acclaimed Hollywood movie director was visiting Tokyo at the occasion of launch in Japan of his latest film "Rush" starring Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Bruhl. TAG Heuer partnered with the production team to recreate the sexy and glamorous golden age of Formula 1 racing.
Ron Howard, sporting his favorite TAG Heuer watch Carrera 1887, declared: "To make this film Rush, I wanted to describe legendary rivalry between Niki Lauda and James Hunt in 1976 F1 Grand Prix season by accurately recreating the glamorous golden age of Formula 1 in the 1970s. To do so, supports from various brands, from formula car to dresses, were essential, and TAG Heuer is one of the brands which helped my film making the most accurate."
At the end of the talk show, Japanese actress and singer Sumire - wearing a TAG Heuer Formula 1 Ladies 'watch - presented TAG Heuer Carrera "Fuji Speedway" special limited edition to Ron Howard, as a commemoration of the last scene of the film.
"It was risky to shoot in the rain, however, at the same time, it was a very special experience.", said Ron Howard. "Filming Fuji Speedway was quite cinematic as it is located just under Mount Fuji. We also wanted to pay tribute to Akira Kurosawa's genius and got inspired by his amazing, unique way of filming to shoot this final Fuji Speedway scene, making it quite dramatic."
"Rush" will be in cinemas in Japan on 7 February.
