TAG Heuer - 150 years of avant-garde design
GMT- Printemps-Ete 2010
What a wealth of amazing feats over the past 150 years! Since TAG Heuer loves to share them with other enthusiasts, this sports timing champion naturally chose to launch its 150th anniversary celebrations near London, at the headquarters of its historical partner McLaren.
TAG Heuer's pioneering spirit and enduring love of motor racing is reflected in its ongoing partnership with McLaren, which began in 1985 and was the first of its kind between a watch brand and a Formula 1 racing team. What better place in which to unveil the new version of the Silverstone, the Formula 1 automatic chronograph par excellence?
The Silverstone race track holds special significance for TAG Heuer, since many of its ambassador-drivers and its F1 drivers have recorded wins there that proved decisive to their career. From Emmanuel de Graffenried, the very first brand ambassador in 1949, to Mika Häkkinen in 2001 and Lewis Hamilton with Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Benz in 2008, along with Juan Manuel Fangio in 1956, Jo Siffert in 1968, Alain Prost in 1985 and 1989, Ayrton Senna in 1988, David Coulthard in 1999 and 2000, the Silverstone race course has inspired the greatest names in the sport to give their very best performances.
The revisited yet characteristic shape of the square case with rounded edges undoubtedly perpetuates this twin passion for design and speed.
