Newsletter - The little Saxon town of Glashutte in the news
In our penultimate newsletter of the year we concentrate on the theme of Christmas. This is the last full shopping week before the holidays, so it's time to think about those Christmas gifts. If you're short of ideas, we're here to help! We start today with a selection of affordable gents' watches under 3,000 Swiss francs and continue throughout the week with a review of some table-top clocks by Marie de Pimodan-Bugnon and a round-up of jewellery-inspired watches by Isabelle Guignet.
Our Advent calendar competition continues with some great prizes on offer this week, from Sennheiser headphones offered by Raymond Weil in today's competition to Lebeau-Courally cufflinks and even a full watchmaking experience kindly offered by the people at Armin Strom. That is a gift that very few people have the chance to experience.
After our director Brice Lechevalier returned from Glashutte with news of the new A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Tourbillon Handwerkskunst, with one of the finest dial finishes seen this year, the little town of Glashutte remains in our sights this week with two articles on Glashutte Original: Keith Strandberg interviews the director of the town's watch museum about the "Glashutte in the GDR era" retrospective exhibition, while Roberta Naas talks about her involvement in the "Impressions" book, which brings together different first-person accounts of the brand.
