The natural world presents a wealth of b and opposing forces, most powerfully revealed in the perpetual cycle from night to day, dusk to dawn. Our inner-most character, as well as the persona we assume in society, our alter-ego, are governed by dual-sided forces. For 2012, Concord introduces a pair of C2 Chronograph Black & White models that explore the yin and yang of life and the mystery of duality.
Black suggests power, authority and timeless style. It is often associated with intuition, elegance, formality and class. Some view it as the color of mystery and solemnity, evoking the depths of the unknown, and nurturing the imagination of a different world. Others point out that black is "achromatic", neither emitting nor reflecting light. Whatever one's personal appreciation of this hue, it exercises undeniable attraction in Concord's 2012 limited-edition timepiece evocatively named the C2 Chronograph BlackFrost. It is set with black diamonds and fitted with a black alligator strap, creating a spectacular contrast with the gleaming steel case and white dial.
White is a universal symbol of innocence and purity. Its ability to reflect light means it is often regarded as a summer color, although it can also naturally evoke a pristine winter mantle of snow. Its neutrality makes it a popular fashion choice because of its ability to blend in while maintaining a distinct personality. Paradoxically, white suggests extreme coolness and intense heat - or even both, as in a white-hot fire burning beneath ice. In short, the color white epitomizes the contradictions found in both nature as a whole and human nature in particular. The core-line C2 Chronograph all-white version features white diamonds framing a pure white dial. Fitted with a white alligator strap, it radiates an alluring aura of immaculate elegance.
Both models have a beautifully proportioned 43 mm case that offers an aesthetically pleasing combination of angles and curves, and is water-resistant to 100 meters. Concord's lug-free tubular attachments ensure an ideal visual flow from strap to case, and an ideal fit on the wrist. Driven by a 37-jewel mechanical automatic movement beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, the dial indications feature central hour, minute and sweep seconds hands, along with chronograph counters at 6 and 9 o'clock, small seconds at 3 o'clock, and a date display at 6 o'clock.
The C2 Chronograph Black & White models may be chosen individually, or as a pair by one individual seeking to reflect the dual sides of his or her own nature.
