Since the set-up of Antoine LeCoultre's workshop in 1833 in the legendary Vallee de Joux, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Manufacture in Switzerland has always regarded inventiveness as one of its core values. While this passion for creating and inventing has primarily been expressed over the past 178 years through the innumerable watches and movements that have made Jaeger-LeCoultre a leader in the watchmaking world, digital technology now means the brand can share its history, expertise and enthusiasm with a much wider audience.
Having developed and offered the first watchmaking school for the iPhone and iPad, the first interactive publication kiosk online - e-Library, the first Virtual Museum ever, devoted to a watchmaking legend - the Reverso - and the first watchmaking "Treasure Hunt "on Facebook, the Jaeger-LeCoultre website now, yet again, proves its desire to use the Internet as an exclusive space for expression and encounters with enthusiasts.
Ergonomics, speed and user-friendliness were paramount during the design phase. Modern, intuitive and luxurious but never ostentatious, the new Jaeger-LeCoultre website prides itself on the richness and variety of its content, enabling Internet users to indulge in a true brand experience. To enter the site, for the watchmaking aficionado and neophyte alike, is to immerse oneself in the very spirit of Jaeger-LeCoultre and become an actor in a saga that began nearly two centuries ago. The concept of this new site also demonstrates a commitment to the public through listening, dialogue, service, news and sharing.
It naturally features all models from the current collections, but also highlights older timepieces, via a comprehensive chronological presentation and a genuine virtual museum, to which both the Manufacture and internet users have made contributions. While the virtual museum has seen the legendary Reverso with the reversible case play a solo starring role in the watch's 80th anniversary year, it will soon be opening its doors to include other brand models.
In a world where image is king, videos offer visitors an insight into the artistry and craftsmanship displayed each day by watchmakers at the Manufacture, besides presenting the latest brand news and updates on cultural and sporting events in which Jaeger-LeCoultre is involved.
One of the strengths of the new site - an online space for dialogue and exchange in six languages - is its interactivity. A link to a concierge service makes it easy to contact the brand directly.
