The 18K rose gold case features open, arch-shaped attachments for the strap, while the juxtaposition of black Arabic and Roman numerals on the off-white lacquered dial anchor the timepiece firmly in Deco design language.

Two versions of the 867 Tuxedo timepiece will be offered: a 27.50mm model powered by the hand-wound RL430 movement, created by Piaget for Ralph Lauren, and — for the first time in the collection — a 21.50mm model. This new smaller size will be powered by a Swiss quartz caliber — both decorated with Côtes de Geneve.

In tribute to the rose that is named in honor of Yves Piaget and that also inspires a collection of its jewelry and timepieces, the House of Piaget is celebrating June 13th as the first "Piaget Rose Day." In the U.S., Piaget commemorated the day in partnership with the New York Botanical Garden. Larry Boland, President of Piaget North America and Brian Sullivan, Vice President of Landscape, Outdoor Collections and Gardens, planted special Piaget Rose bushes in the famed Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden.
 

Other events took place around the world, including the reopening of Piaget's Place Vendôme flagship boutique in Paris, along with a private concert by Grammy-nominated jazz singer and Piaget ambassador, Melody Gardot.

Piaget has also launched an updated version of its U.S. e-commerce site with exclusive jewelry and timepieces from the Piaget Rose collection. A worldwide social media competition invites fans of the brand to post rose-themed testimonials to their loved ones on the Piaget Facebook page. The winner will be invited to visit the Piaget Manufacture in Geneva and experience the Piaget Rose collection firsthand.
The rose has been a key design motif for the House of Piaget since the 1960s. Mr. Yves Piaget's passion for the flower was recognized in 1982 when the winner of the Geneva International Competition of New Roses was christened the "Yves Piaget Rose," further solidifying the House's connection to the rose.
A favorite among Hollywood stars, Piaget Rose jewelry has been worn by celebrities such as Zoe Saldana, Teri Hatcher, Rose McGowan, Paula Patton, Emmy Rossum and Taraji P. Henson. Rising star, Brit Marling, who perfectly embodies the spirit of the collection, recently wore the Piaget Rose pendant in 18-carat white gold and diamonds to the New York and Los Angeles premieres of her new film, "The East."

In 2004 and 2012, Piaget has developed and created the world's thinnest skeleton models: Caliber 600S and Caliber 1200S. In 2005, the Manufacture took things to the next level by gem-setting for the first time the entire gold mainplate and functional parts. Embodying this expertise that is indeed unique in the world, Caliber 600D presented in 2005 was followed in 2010 by Caliber 838D. Eventually, at the SIHH 2013, Piaget unveiled Caliber 1200D, the first ever automatic gem-set skeleton movement.
Caliber 1200D is the 34th movement to be entirely developed and produced by the Manufacture in the last 15 years. It is an unprecedented feat blending watchmaking and jewelry know-how, and its extensive two-year development process alone called upon the full range of Piaget's skills. Mirroring Piaget's unique mastery, this 3 mm movement representing the thinnest in the world in its category is adorned with 259 brilliant-cut diamonds (approx. 0.8 ct) and 11 black sapphire cabochons (approx. 0.2 ct) set within a diameter of 31.9 mm. This exceptional gem-setting requires four days of work to complete just one movement.
 

Setting the entire mainplate also requires paving the functional parts - a constant challenge mastered by only a rare few jewelers. An ultra-thin caliber naturally comprises extremely slender parts, such as the jumper-spring cover that measures just 0.69 mm. The Piaget master-jewelers even applied their artistry to concealing the screw threads beneath black sapphire cabochons.
Reflecting the exceptional nature of its movement, the 18K white gold case of the Altiplano automatic gem-set Skeleton movement also called for the exercise of the most sophisticated skills perpetuated within the Manufacture. At just 6.10 mm thick, this case also sets a record for slimness, as well as being adorned with a setting of 40 baguette-cut diamonds (approx. 3.2 ct) on the bezel. Delicately set on the middle, the crown, the lugs and even the sapphire crystal case back, 347 brilliant-cut diamonds (approx. 1.4 ct) refine this precious composition, while the strap buckle sparkles with 24 brilliant-cut diamonds (approx. 0.06 ct).
 

For 2011, Ralph Lauren introduces a new square design inspired by the grand era of Art Deco style. Celebrating the functional elegance of clean, geometric lines, this style came of age in the 1920s-at the same time as the first generation of wristwatches. This timepiece's tastefully restrained size, just 27.5mm wide, likewise reflects the timeless proportions of the iconic dress watch. With its precise case shape, dial composition of concentric squares, and combination of Roman and Arabic numerals this debonair timepiece embodies the synthesis of classicism and modernity that is Art Deco at its finest. This watch hosts the calibre RL430-made by Piaget for Ralph Lauren, which offers a 40 hour power reserve, beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour. Available in rose gold or white gold, including a guilloche reference that continues Ralph Lauren's devotion to this exquisite and rarefied artform.
