Glashutte Original Senator Perpetual Calendar Boutique Edition (100-02-07-12-30)

The Glashutte Original Senator Perpetual Calendar Boutique Edition (100-02-07-12-30) watch actually looks exactly as the image, it's has a little weight to it but I love it anyway. The only thing, is you can't see the date under the numeral 6, although it says its there.

The seductive form of the Pavonina collection case dates back to the 1920s, when the distinctive „cushion" shape was widely used with wristwatches. Glashutte Original's designers reworked the form slightly, adapting it to suit the contemporary woman and integrating flexible lugs in the case. The Saxon watchmaker has applied for a patent for this solution, which allows a perfectly snug fit between the watch and the wrist of the woman wearing it.

This model displays a stainless steel case paired with a shimmering petrol green satin strap. The crown is decorated with a white agate.
Watches in the Pavonina collection feature the absolute precision and user-friendly comfort assured by the Calibre 03-01 quartz movement. The plate is decorated with the characteristic Glashutte striping, and the engraved logo appears in gold on the silver plate. The polished case back provides ample space for individual engravings and personal dedications.

The 62nd Berlinale saw the German watchmaker enhance its commitment by founding the "Made in Germany - Perspektive Fellowship" award, together with the Berlinale's "Perspektive Deutsches Kino" section.

The €15,000 award is funded by Glashutte Original and designed to support talented young directors as they develop materials and a screenplay for their next film project. All the directors who screened films in the Perspektive Deutsches Kino programme in 2012 are eligible to compete for the 2013 award.
A prominent Jury has been selected, and their decision will be announced during the Perspektive Deutsches Kino opening ceremony set for February 8, 2013 during the Berlinale. The three jury members are: author and director Hans-Christian Schmid; Nicolette Krebitz, best known as an actress, and the documentary and feature film producer, Heino Deckert.

Last year's Festival saw the inaugural edition of a series of events under the heading "Reden uber Film", arranged jointly by Glashutte Original and the Perspektive Deutsches Kino. The sessions offer the public and press an opportunity to meet with key players in the film business.
The success of the initial round of Film Talks at the 2012 Festival has led the organizers to move the event to a larger venue for the 2013 edition.

During two days (12th and 14th of February) the initiators invite the interested public to join the one-hour talks at the Home Base Lounge, Köthener Strasse 44.
A selection of the Saxon manufactory's exclusive watches will be exhibited in the lounge again this year, and a professional watchmaker will be on hand to explain the finer points of the complications to connoisseurs and friends of hand-made timepieces from the manufactory in Glashutte, Germany.

For more than 165 years, Glashutte has been a centre of fine German watchmaking. Today the town is renowned as the home of Glashutte Original and its watchmaking school. The German Watch Museum Glashutte, too, co-founded by Glashutte Original and the town of Glashutte, attracts thousands of visitors every year. After touring the modern and interactive exhibition, visitors pass a further highlight of the museum: the restoration workshop of Glashutte Original. Here, guests are offered an unobstructed view of watchmakers' workbenches, tools, and watchmakers at work, all of whom are highly qualified employees of Glashutte Original.

These master craftsmen have a special task. They repair and restore historic timepieces - old clocks and watches manufactured in the town of Glashutte since the middle of the 19th century. Their precious expertise serves the German Watch Museum, of course, but is also available as a service to private owners of wrist- and pocket watches, precision pendulum clocks or marine chronometers made by various famous Glashutte watch manufacturers such as Julius Assmann, Adolf Schneider, Strasser & Rohde or Paul Stubner, to name just a few.

The unique expertise and value of the Glashutte Original Restoration Workshop is evident in the fascinating story of a rare precision pendulum clock discovered in the astronomical observatory in Qingdao, China, where it had served for more than fifty years and was in dire need of repair. As the rightful heir to Glashutte's long history in watchmaking, Glashutte Original agreed to inspect, restore and repair the clock and had it shipped to Glashutte for that purpose. There, Glashutte Original's expert restoration team undertook repairs and a complete overhaul of the historic timepiece, manufactured in Glashutte by the noted firm of Strasser & Rohde in the 1950s. It took the specialists ten months to restore the Qingdao gem to its former beauty; all of the components and individual parts, including the wheels, hands, dial, pendulum and wooden case were lovingly repaired or carefully reproduced.
On completion of the work, the clock was carefully packed and shipped to China, first to Shanghai and subsequently to Qingdao. It was accompanied by the expert watchmaker who was responsible for its repair and would ensure proper regulation of the heavy pendulum on arrival. The rare timepiece was ceremoniously returned in 2010 to the Qingdao Observatory, where today it serves as a witness to history and the fine art of mechanical timekeeping.
