  • Breguet - The Beatles's songs warm up New York's Canergie Hall

On the evening of Friday, October 24, 2014, Breguet sponsored an event at world-renown music institution, Carnegie Hall, featuring The New York Pops performing songs from The Beatles. The concert, appropriately titled "All You Need is Love", was a tribute to the iconic band's 50th Anniversary arrival to the U.S. and the birth of Beatlemania. A group of VIPs were invited by the brand to pre-concert cocktails and a sit-down dinner at Carnegie Hall's private club rooms surrounded by a gallery of Breguet's timepieces. Guests were treated to a surprise visit by Carnegie Hall historian, Mr. Gino Francesconi, who recounted the night of The Beatles' performance at Carnegie Hall on February 12, 1964 and shared insightful stories about some of the rare items on display at the museum.

Breguet's support of Carnegie is part of the brand's legacy of preserving arts and culture around the world.

  • Arnold & Son - New Advertising Campaign

The new Arnold & Son global advertising campaign lavishly illustrates the brand's novelties. It presents the Royal Collection and the Instrument Collection novelties within a spectacular environment and reflects the heritage behind the timepieces with a description of each model and its in-house manufacture movements.
Arnold & Son's history goes back almost 250 years. In retrospect, it is clear that John Arnold was one of the greatest watchmakers who ever lived and that he, together with Abraham-Louis Breguet, largely invented the modern mechanical watch.

The new Arnold & Son advertising campaigns also highlights the brand's prowess in the development and production of in-house manufacture movements in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. The Royal and Instrument Collections are composed of an impressive number of Arnold & Son calibres with a complete range of sophisticated complications. Unlike other watch manufacturers, who often use the same calibre for different models, Arnold & Son develops a new movement for every single model. Every Arnold & Son movement has its own story to tell and reflects the brand's heritage.
The Royal Collection is a reflection of elegance and sophistication in the inimitable English style. It is inspired by and pays tribute to the timepieces produced in the earlier part of John Arnold's life and made for King George III and members of the royal court. The Royal Collection demonstrates the brand's traditional prowess in the classical decorative arts. The watches are all housed in exquisitely elegant cases.

The Instrument Collection is inspired by the timepieces produced during the second part of John Arnold's life and, after his death, by his son, John Roger. These timepieces focused on chronometry and were designed with absolute precision in mind. They were the work of watchmakers dedicated to solving the problem of determining longitude accurately at sea. So successful were they that Arnold & Son became principal suppliers of marine chronometers to the British Royal Navy. The Instrument Collection combines marine precision with aesthetic perfection and a purist design which permits the main complication to take centre stage. Like the Royal Collection, the Instrument Collection is a sublime expression of a long and proud heritage.
The new campaign was launched this fall with new models such as the TB88 or the DBS Equation Sidereal and will continue next year to present Arnold & Son's novelties for BASELWORLD 2013.

  • Breguet - Marine GMT 5857

The timezone of this Marine GMT watch, a function that frequent travellers find most useful, is shown by the two central hands. A chapter ring of hours, off-centre at 6 o'clock, shows the reference time. An aperture for the dates in the reference timezone makes the watch even more practical.

The distinguishing features of the Marine GMT 5857 include the tough and action-ready character emanating from its 42 mm diameter case, its welded lugs, rubber strap and guards protecting the crown. In contrast, the dial is engine-turned in a wave pattern on silvered gold for the steel version and on blackened rhodium for the model in rose gold, the sophistication of which is underlined by finely interlaced circles. The hours chapters are also differentiated by Roman numerals for the reference time and Arabic numerals for the timezone.
The sapphire crystal caseback reveals the selfwinding calibre 517F movement of 11½ lignes with a power reserve of 72 hours. The use of silicon for the inverted in-line lever escapement and the flat balance-spring ensures a stable rate from a balance vibrating 28,800 times an hour.

  • Perrelet - Split-second Chronograph "LOUIS-FReDeRIC"

    Press release - 9th february 2009

Perrelet rewrites watch making history with the launch of its special, split-second Chronograph as homage to the "savoir faire" of Louis-Frederic Perrelet.Grandson of the eminent Abraham-Louis Perrelet, Louis-Frederic (1781-1854) underwent his first years of formation under the watchful, yet benevolent eyes of his grand-father in Le Locle. After reaching adulthood, he chose to quit the harsh mountain climate for the excitement that Paris had to offer. There, he is known to have worked for the famous Abraham-Louis Breguet, most probably by a contact established by his grandfather. This stage evidently helped to sharpen Louis-Frederic's skills to the extent that he soon was granted access to the royal court. On his merits he served no fewer than three French kings as official Royal watchmaker. He equally gained fame by many an exhibition culminating in winning 4 gold medals for outstanding horological work. In 1827, he deposited a patent application for a new invention, the chronograph split-second mechanism. His patent was officially registered in his name on March 11, 1828. This invention led the "Academie de Sciences" in Paris to award him with another gold medal a few years later. The transcripts at the Academy were recorded as follows:
"Monsieur Perrelet is now accepted among the distinguished ranks of watchmakers of the highest order by virtue of his craftsmanship and experience… in all his works, you will find a good disposition and perfect execution illustrating the able artist's hands to which we owe the invention of the counter with double stop."

Driven by the same passion, Perrelet's engineers have conceived a series of new timepieces by reinterpreting this complication with the possibilities offered by today's technology. The 1st series is limited and numbered to 50 pieces in a combination of 18 carat white and rose gold with a black skeletonised dial. The second series limited to 27 pieces in 18 carat white gold only, features a blue, skeletonised dial. Both editions feature Perrelet's automatic, semi-skeletonised calibre P-241. Central hour and minute hands work in perfect harmony with the seconds and date being displayed by rotating glass disks. Another two disks serve to display the chronograph totalisers, all of which produce a highly innovative and aesthetically appealing look to the watch. The contemporary design is enhanced by using a natural rubber straps which has been embossed with the Perrelet Logo. A gold deployment buckle is standard for both models.
The anti-reflective sapphire crystal allows an unimpeded view into the intricacies of this beautifully skeletonised movement revealing rhodium-plated bridges and plates, blued screws, polished and angled parts as well as allowing the dominant barrel to unwittingly take centre stage. The entirety of the watchmaking masterpiece provides the connoisseur
with a fascinating voyage for the eye that would have surely also appealed to Louis-Frederic.
The Louis-Frederic limited Split-Second Chronograph is immediately available at official Perrelet retailers throughout the world.
