Chaumet - Dandy Collection
In 2003, Chaumet creates the first distinctive dress watch: a round dial in a cushion-shaped case with an off-centered bayadere stripe running over the strap. Paying tribute to men who combine elegance, wit and impertinence, the Dandy collection houses ingenious complications (like Chronograph, GMT, Jumping Hours, Power-Reserve, Big Date or Metronome) giving birth to timeless yet stylized designs.
Six years later, in 2009, Chaumet introduces the Dandy Arty edition. This new aesthetic redefines the use of sapphire crystal and radicalises asymmetry with horizontal time reading, giving birth to a precious instrument with a unique look.In 2012, Chaumet innovates by adorning the Arty watches with ornamental stones - Tiger's Eye & Snowy Obsidian - which enable to rediscover the Arty design, in respectively 12 and 18 pieces limited editions. When technicality & design are coupled, it is an ultimate classic which comes to life. A slender-slim profiled case elegantly displays time on a dial shared both by traditional hands and an original indented wheel.
The white gold "slim" watch is a wink at Chinese culture, with the "12" written in Chinese and its red details. Connoisseurs will appreciate the Zenith manufacture self-winding calibre for Chaumet which beats at the rhythm of the small second wheel. As an allusion to women, first clients of the Maison, the Dandy collection also offers more feminine versions with Miss Dandy watches, featuring the cushion shape & the bayadere stripes in a thinner & smaller version.
Ultimate elegance
Dedicated to whom discretion rhymes with distinction, Dandy timepieces are just like their owners: they enhance timeless elegance with stylized details.
- Refined material combinations: gold, diamonds, onyx, full grain box calf, satin, alligator from Louisiana
- A play on contrasts: a combination of polished and fine-brushed surfaces highlights the tight lines of the cushion-shaped case and counter rims, the round opening dial is decorated with vertical stripes and with a horizontal line that enhances the Chaumet Paris signature
- Elegant for day and night wear: a urban and elegant watch with a box calf, alligator, or steel bracelet, which takes on a more elegant evening wear aspect with its tuxedo strap in taffeta and satin or with the patent leather and satin strap for the Dandy Arty edition.
- Meticulous details: the engraved bayaderes stripes from the dial continue onto the strap and are engraved onto the bottom of the case as well
- Refined finishing touches: the dials combine azure, fine-brushed sunray pattern or opaline surface, « guilloche »; the movements are decorated with « Côtes de Geneve » or Dandy pattern when they are visible.
Daily sophisticated instrument
Dandy watches are the host of movements, from the most classical that will never go out of fashion, to the most surprising ones.
The indispensable complications are or course found in the Dandy collection: Chronograph to keep & master time or GMT for the globe-trotters or those willing to keep an eye on a particular time slot.
Jumping Hours, Big Date or Power Reserve bring their technicality to the collection, bearing in mind the Metronome Edition, which small second beats time like a metronome.
Dandy, reinterpreted in its Arty design, unveils movements that sublimate its design: that is how the Open Face Edition lets the onlooker admire its plate, visible, for there is no dial to hide it.
Dandy Arty: design, avant-garde & chic
The Arty edition is the most advanced expression of daring Dandy creations: in a play of contrasts and materials, the cushion-shaped is reinterpreted to give birth to design watches that evolve and change like piece of art.
The atypical shape of the case is even more emphasized by the black metalized sapphire crystal with subtle midnight blue reflections or by an ornamental stone flange specifically cut in thin layers. A precise line with a crown at 12 o'clock evokes the winder of pocket watches. Patent black calf leather straps, with their satin bayadere stripe, play with the contrast of matt & shiny textures to reveal even more the daring interpretation of elegance and chic.
On the reverse, the case-back unveils, through a sapphire glass, the automatic movement designed by Jean-Marc Wiederrecht for Chaumet. This unique calibre, which beats in the heart of every Arty edition watch, offers an innovative way of time reading from left to right, with hours & minutes and seconds on two off-centred counters.
