Vacheron Constantin - In the Victoria Hall, Geneva
On September 24th 2010 in Geneva's Victoria Hall, Vacheron Constantin, the watch manufacturer with the world's longest-running uninterrupted history and the main sponsor of the Orchestre Suisse Romande (OSR), welcomed 60 guests for a classical music concert conducted by the orchestra's Musical Director Marek Janowski and graced with the presence of OSR President Metin Arditi, as well as Vacheron Constantin CEO Juan-Carlos Torres and International Director Marc Guten.
Performing to a full house, Romanian pianist Radu Lupu delighted the audience by playing Beethoven's Fifth "Emperor" Piano Concerto in E flat major, op. 73. The second part of the concert featured a more distinctly modern atmosphere with the Symphony no. 15 in A major, op. 141 by Dimitri Shostakovich.
During the intermission, Vacheron Constantin's guests and the audience in general enjoyed an opportunity to admire the precious timepieces from the brand's Patrimony collection.
After the concert, the invitees adjourned to the Cafe Lyrique for a private reception. In his welcome speech, Juan-Carlos Torres emphasised the longstanding ties of friendship and partnership between Vacheron Constantin and the Orchestre Suisse Romande, as well as with Metin Arditi and Marek Janowski.
Vacheron Constantin and the Orchestre de la Suissre Romande (OSR)
Vacheron Constantin has always been closely involved with the arts. Supporting music is a means of ensuring the continuity of a universe imbued with passion and technique, while partnering the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande is first and foremost a means of contributing to the cultural vitality of a region that saw the birth of Vacheron Constantin. It also highlights the virtues of human creativity and talent, without which art in general - and classical music and fine watchmaking in particular - could never shine so brightly. A world-famous institution endowed with a rich history and a resolutely future-looking approach, the OSR displays a constant determination to excel.
