Ludwig Strasser enjoys a worldwide reputation as a very creative micromechanical engineer noted for his exceptional imaginative capacity and above-average gift for higher mathematics. He is well known for his precision pendulum clocks, which he produced in the firm he founded together with Gustav Rhode, Strasser & Rohde.
His ability to share his knowledge in an easily understandable manner made Ludwig Strasser an exceptional teacher at the German Watchmaking School. For 37 years, his in-depth expertise served the training institute. Under his leadership the school became an institution known and respected around the world.
Strasser's tireless and dedicated commitment to the school was also noted by the Saxon royal family: in 1902 King Albert of Saxony awarded him the title of "Professor". Ludwig Strasser's exceptional craftsmanship and pedagogical skills are presented with the aid of precision pendulum clocks, escapement models, timers and marine chronometers, calculators and precision measurement tools. The special exhibition will be open to the public from 18 October 2013 through 12 January 2014 at the German Watch Museum Glashutte. The exhibition catalogue will be available in the museum shop.
