Speake-Marin - Passionate, Distinctive & Exclusive
Enduring timepiecesSpeake-Marin watches are instantly recognisable thanks to the Piccadilly case featuring screwed lugs and pleated crown - inspired by Peter's formative years in antique timepiece restoration in Piccadilly, London. The three-piece case is not only built to last on a physical level; it also exudes an aesthetic classicism, making it a timeless design that will transcend the centuries. This aesthetical horological harmony extends internally as well: Speake-Marin is also a byword for superlatively engineered movements thanks to the brand's stunning in-house SM2 calibre.SM2 CalibreStarting with a blank sheet of paper, Peter wanted to create a movement that reflected the culmination of his experience and featured everything he had come to respect and admire in a timepiece. The superlatively finished SM2 Calibre is large and over-engineered for maximum reliability and longevity. Even the screws are larger than conventional screws and there are more of them to ensure a solid construction boasting maximum rigidity. Ease of servicing has been designed in to make life easier for any watchmaker working on the movement and to minimise risk of damage or mistakes. The heart of the regulating system, the balance, features a traditional large, relatively slow balance wheel with Breguetovercoil, beating at 21,600bph. The graceful double-ended swan neck regulators not only add to the overall elegance, but they also enable simple and precise adjustment of the rate. The plates and bridges and impressive balance cock are characterised by elegant, arcing forms. They are made in untreated German silver, which provides a warmer colour than the usual plated bridges and contrasts superbly with the large jewels and wheels. ExclusiveSpeake-Marin timepieces are not just mechanically and aesthetically distinctive; they are also exclusive thanks to the limited numbers in which they are created. Intrinsic and extrinsic creativity Besides designing, developing and crafting timepieces by harnessing the creative force of Peter Speake-Marin, Speake-Marin also offers bespoke creation service to retailers, businesses, groups of collectors and individualsby creating commissioned limited editions or unique pieces, offering a choice of dials, case materials and case sizes - including the possibility for unique hand-engraved dials and movements to match a wide range of budgets and tastes.
