RJ-Romain Jerome - Moon Invader 40
Four decades after Apollo 11 and one year after the launch of the Moon Invader collection, the Moon once again shines through a new timepiece from RJ-Romain Jerome: the Moon Invader 40. Loyal to the brand's aesthetic codes and reflecting the attributes of the 46 mm Moon Invader watches, the new lunar legend surprises by the size of its 40 mm case.
SECRET CODES OF A SURPRISING COLLECTION
Mingled with steel and fragments from Apollo 11, the case of the Moon Invader watches has been designed like a space vessel capable of journeying through small and vast spaces, carrying in its hold Moon seeds that are the stuff of dreams. Each watch is thus imbued with the memory of the lunar adventure that made its mark on history.
The functional ball-and-socket joints on the four "corners" of this rounded square are shaped like the pivoting "feet" of the lunar landing modules. These extremely sophisticated components mounted on axles anchored in the case hold the spring-bars of the leather straps and enable the watch to adapt to all wrist sizes. This comfort-driven feature also creates a powerful and immediately recognisable aesthetic identity.
One of the aesthetic signatures of the Moon Invader collection, the RJ security screws bearing four cup marks are also echoed on the back of the watch, on the movement's functional locking screw. They evoke both the legendary universe and the futuristic codes of contemporary astronautics.
While preserving the emblematic X motif characteristic of RJ dials, the Moon Invader features a "meshed" pattern directly inspired by the woven metal strands on the tires of lunar roving vehicles. On a multi-layered dial, this grid creates a high-tech screen effect never previously used in the watchmaking world and lending a symbolic functional dimension to the collection.
The inner bezel ring and the small seconds counter are satin-brushed and the cut-out hands are enhanced with Superluminova (emitting an electric blue luminescence in the dark). The mechanical self-winding movement housed in the Moon Invader watches has been especially developed for RJ-Romain Jerome.
In harmony with the timeless promise implied by the special Moon SilverRJ plate appearing on the stellar-patterned caseback of the watch, and thanks to a silver alloy with a very low oxidisation rate and incorporating lunar rock fragments, the Moon now makes its home on the wrist.
The Moon Invader 40 watches are available in three versions: black PVD, steel and titanium. They are scheduled to land on earth this summer.
