DeWitt - DeWitt and Guards Polo Club sign partnership
This partnership includes customised giant clocks around the Club's premier playing field at Smith's Lawn, known as The Queen's Ground, a display of watches in the Clubhouse, the organization of joint events and the development of two specially designed watches, for gentlemen and ladies.
Since the beginning of 2010, DeWitt has been reinforcing its positioning in the UK thanks to the excellent and proactive work of its new distributor, Linder Luxury. This new and b partnership is the illustration of this development in the UK, and is therefore a joint partnership of DeWitt and Linder Luxury with Guards Polo Club.
The most important tournament organized by Guards Polo Club is the historic "Queen's Cup". This year, The Queen's Cup is celebrating its 50th anniversary and for this special occasion, DeWitt will design two special commemorative watches.
Timothy Mayer, Communication Manager at DeWitt: said: "To become the Official Timing Partner of Guards Polo Club is an honour and an opportunity which DeWitt is proud to have been given. Polo is a spectacular sport, based on tradition, technique and audacity. Guards Polo Club is one of the world's most prestigious clubs and its philosophy and values correspond perfectly with DeWitt's approach to watchmaking."
Guards Polo Club's Chief Executive, Charles Stisted, said on signing this agreement: "Guards Polo Club is delighted that DeWitt is creating a timepiece of history to commemorate the 50th anniversary of The Queen's Cup. This high-goal tournament is one of the world's greatest competitions and the roll call of winners includes some of the sport's most famous names, including HRH The Prince of Wales. We are also honoured that DeWitt is bringing its clockmaking expertise to the game itself by installing an impressive clock within our scoreboard on The Queen's Ground, our number one ground on Smith's Lawn."
The DeWitt "Queen's Cup 1960-2010" gentleman's watch is inspired from the new Twenty-8-Eight Tourbillon model, recently presented at Baselworld 2010. The watch - a 43mm, 18-carat rose gold with a mechanical manually-wound Tourbillon movement manufactured entirely by DeWitt and a hand-made guilloché dial - will be produced in a limited edition of 50 pieces. The No 1 model will be auctioned on the 10th June 2010 during the Queen's Cup Anniversary Dinner. The proceeds of this sale will be donated to the Sands Charity, which supports anyone affected by the death of a baby and helps promote research to reduce the loss of babies' lives.
The DeWitt "Queen's Cup 1960-2010" lady's watch is inspired from the new Dame de Pressy model, also presented at Baselworld 2010. This watch, an extremely rare and precious little treasure, is the expression of timeless feminity. It presents a mechanical, manually-wound and skeletonised movement and is decorated with more than 460 brilliant-cut and "snow-set" diamonds on case and buckle (~ 4.38 carats). This watch will also be produced in a limited edition of 50 pieces. The No 1 model will be presented to H.M The Queen on the 13th of June 2010 after the Final of The 2010 Queen's Cup.
